  1. Car is being bought privately so in theory the seller could write a reciept for the car lower than what I paid. The car is around $30,000 so lets say £15k but to add shipping etc your looking at about another £5k for tax and vat. So I thought get a reciept for as little as possible (within reason) and then pay less for duty and vat.
  2. Hi all just a quick update on my quest for an american import. I am now looking at a 67 gt 390 mustang (the bullitt car) and looking to get one imported from the states. However the real killer is the import duty and vat which collectivly work ut at about 30% of what you actually pay for the car. So what I am thinking is would it be possible to pay the full amount to the seller and then get a reciept for a smaller amount. Yes cheeky i know but how do they work out the duty and vat. Is it on what you pay for the car? In which case could you not simply say the car cost you half of what you paid using the receipt as proof and thus pay half the relevant fees? Trev
  3. I thought it was pretty good considering its a facelift and leather interior
  4. Saw this on Autotrader, seems very cheap and looks to be in good condition. Mileage is a little high but certainly wouldn't put me off http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/TOYOTA+SUPRA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-4294966972-4294967173/advert.action?R=200813306650880&distance=94&postcode=cv22+7df&channel=CARS&make=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage
  5. Stunning Supra, those wheels are very nice

    My new Supra!

19" wheels. Was a little concerned about the ride quality when I bought the car but i find it to handle pretty wheel. You wouldn't want to use them for track use but overall the car rides wheel and i find it tramlines much less than my old car on 18" wheels. However it can feel a little more skittish in the wet than my previous supra but I think thats down to the tyres.

    My new Supra!

Its an NA. Would have liked a TT but would have been well over twice what i paid for this car for a mint TT in similar colour, mileage etc. This is going to be my daily driver and then I am hopefully going to set myself aside about some money for a 'weekend car'. Want something a bit more on the crazy side. Thinking of maybe a TVR at the moment or possibly a project supra

    My new Supra!

Hey Darren Glad to see you back on the forums I actually took a couple of photos of the car today. Still needs a bit of work to get it how i want it and not driving it too much at the moment as am still living in London until the end of the month. Then the car will get a proper wash and some work done on it ready for the summer Trev
  9. Also how easy are they to fit? My normal garage has quoted me £65 for the labour but when i spoke to him about fitting the connectors he seemed to think that you need to solder on the new connectors. But looking at the current ones they look like they are crimped on. Any ideas?
  10. Hi all I have just been on the phone to my local toyota garage about getting some new UK battery connectors to replace my smaller jspec ones. They quoted me £25.45 for the connectors and then £79 per hour to fit them as I don't like the look of the postive connector with all the wiring going to it so would rather let someone else bugger it up than me. Does this sound a little expensive to you guys Trev
  11. I think it looks really nice too. I'd like to see it in a few different colours though as I am not 100% sold on the grey. I had a quick play to see what it would look like in black and think it would look pretty good. Would also help to cover some of the shut lines.
  12. I have just tried to pm jon about getting my lights refurbed so Ill wait and see what the turnaround time is. Thanks for the help
  13. Hi guys I am thinking of buying some new headlights and possibly selling my current jspec facelift lights. They need refurbing so how much do you think they would go for as they currently are? Cheers Trev
  14. Hi again Could someone on here who has a halfords hcb005 battery please measure the width of the battery (front to back) as I need to get a new brace and I have been offered one that is just slightly over 176mm but i want to make sure that this big enough. I would do this myself but my car is not currently with me Many thanks
  15. Ill get someone to measure the battery i have and let you know
  16. not with my supra at the moment so cant be sure. Ill need to get someone to measure their battery to see if it fits You can see the problem I have had here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=140032&page=2
  17. I have to say this is one great looking supra. I have been toying with the idea of a project car myself and I think I'd go down this route with a TRD kit as they really enhance the Supra without losing the standard cars looks too much. I'd even be tempted to tone the kit down a bit more by trying and retain the standard front bumper. I have been working in photoshop on my ideal supra and came up with this
  18. Do you know if its wide enough to fit a UK battery. Could you measure the distance between the 2 clamp plates? Also what condition is it in, any scuffs etc?
  19. Hi all I am looking for a set of battery connectors to fit UK battery terminals as my 96 NA supra's ones are too small. Please pm me if you have any Thanks
  20. Oh well, mine is now a one off I suppose. A bit like an aston martin, hand finished lol
  21. Hi All I am looking for a battery clamp/brace from a 93-95 supra as my 96 NA supra has a jspec clamp that is too small for UK batteries and apparently the earlier cars had wider clamps. pm me if you have one thanks
  22. So can anyone tell me, are the UK battery braces wider than the jspec ones as mine was far too small? Also where can i get or does anyone have the part number for some UK battery connectors
  23. Hi all I changed my battery yesterday in my 96 NA supra (import) after reading this thread to a halfords hcb005 following many people saying they were a good battery and that I wouldn't need any new connectors etc to fit the battery. What a nightmare, read what happened here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?p=1808408&posted=1#post1808408
  24. So my next question is: Does anyone have either the part number for a UK Spec battery brace and are they wider than the jspec ones? Also I need the part number for the UK connectors
