    Japfest 2008

Did anyone see the Toniq R? Not very japanese but I think it looked pretty nice. Sure it would be a very good trackday weapon too and at under £20k new not too badly priced. http://www.toniqr.co.uk/Upload/toniqr/11.jpg Also that white Evo X was very nice. Not really an Evo person but that one was amazing

    Japfest 2008

Hi all Just got back from Japfest and was very impressed. It was the first owners club event I have attended and was really good to meet all of the members. Here are a couple of pictures I took of the midlands convoy and at japfest itself, will have some videos hopefully tomorrow
  6. Done my for sale sign too. The place will end up looking car lot See you guys tomorrow, time for bed
  7. Damn it. Only finished cleaning the car an hour ago and a bloody birds shat all over the bonnet.
  8. BBC weather today is saying that to south will be worst effected by the rain tomorrow. Looks like it will linger all day. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3456
  9. Got a good break in the weather today so i have cleaned, polished and waxed the car top to bottom. Looks great now but now sure how good it will look after a 2 and a half hour drive in the rain tomorrow
  10. lol, yes your probably right
  11. I have also been looking at the possibility of converting a 996 to 997 and spoke to a company that did this car: Think you'll agree a very nice car. The conversion would cost around £12k though so I'd probably need to look for a accident/repairable or stolen/recovered car to use as a base.
  12. My only other worry would be getting rid of the car once the novelty had worn off. Selling an Esprit must be very difficult. I have seen some on Autotrader that have been on there 4 months or more. I think a porsche would make more financial sense as it would probably be easier to shift and also probably drop less in price during ownership
  13. I have spoke to a few Esprit owners who have said to allow £4-5k a year for servicing and maintance which is a bit alarming
  14. Sorry i thought you put 968 not 964, my bad
  15. Agree with your point on NSX's. One thing I really want as well is a car that looks as good as it goes. This then rules out the R34. Goes better than probably anything on the list, looks worse thatn anything on the list though 993's are too expensive for their age. Would really like a 993 turbo but they are well out of reach. 968 doesn't do it for me. I am sure as a drivers car very good but doesn't have the allure of the 911
  16. At the moment a Porsche is at the top of the list as it ticks most of the boxes that I am looking for and is probably the most practical of the bunch. However and this is maybe the one thing that might swing my dicision, does it has soul & character and do they lack that rareity & specialness of older porsches like the 993? I know it will be brilliant to drive and the 911 has a lot of history etc but everytime I see cars like the Esprit I am just blown away. Yes they have horrible interiors and no back seats but they have a presence and character that the Jag and Porsche can't match. If you see a porsche or Jag you think 'nice car' but if you see an Esprit, exige and the TVR you think 'wow'.
  17. Surely the Lotus is fairly reliable, it has a toyota engine in it?
  18. Yes good question should have listed my requirements. Right basically I am looking for a car that will be driven primarily at weekends as I am a train commuter during the week so when I do drive it I want it to be something very special. However I would like something that will have some level of reliability and that won't spend the entire winter in the garage or be off the road half the year in a workshop (so maybe not a TVR then).
  19. Hi all As some of you may know I am currently looking to sell my Supra details of which can be found here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=149145 (shameless plug). Anyway once sold I am hopefully going to look at replacing it with something a bit different. My budget around £20k and at the moment my shortlist is as follows (in order of current favourite) ---------------------- Current shortlist ---------------------- Porsche 996 http://web5.pistonheads.com/aimg/400887-1t.jpg Lotus Esprit http://web5.pistonheads.com/aimg/438958-1t.jpg Jaguar XKR 100 http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/426/426485-1t.jpg Lotus Exige http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/462/462688-1t.jpg Tvr T350 http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/472/472152-1t.jpg Nissan 350z http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/486/486881-1t.jpg ------------------------- Other considered cars ------------------------- Noble M12 bmw m3 e46 67 Ford mustang gt390 TVR Tuscan New shape Ford Mustang Nissan Skyline r34 GTR bmw 645i Mint Supra turbo vvti - with some upgrades Honda NSX Anyone got any thoughts on the list above or any alternative cars they reckon might be worth a look?
