  1. Problem is getting it to either garage. They've ordered the discs and pads now too so I am happy for them to do the work if I can get them a caliper. Ill speak to Chris to see if he can supply a caliper for me. Trev
  2. AH HA now we are getting somewhere. They told me all they will do is a straight swap for the caliper and wont try and fix it as thats not how they work or the service they offer. Therefore should I get them to supply the sidcs and pads as the price is ok for those and then get someone else to try and fix my caliper. Or do I go for a used caliper from Silverstone or Chris W and get them to fit the lot? Trev
  3. They said the drivers disc was very hot and couldn't gaurantee it hadn't warped and that the discs come in pairs do they'd replace both.
  4. Apologies I am back again. I've got the garage to break down the quote and they are saying its the replacement caliper thats going to cost the most money. Pads £52.14 Discs £97.70 Labour £110.45 Total £259.69 However with the caliper on top they have quoted £446.50 so they are charging me £186.81 for the caliper which seems like a lot. Should I go for a used caliper? Silverstone motors have said they have some in stock and Chris W also thinks he might have some. Trev
  5. Hi All Can anyone tell me what size the front discs are on a jspec NA supra at the front. I am trying to source some ferodo discs but my local garage say they need to know the disc size. Thanks Trev
  6. Right one last question. What size are the discs? I am speaking to a supplier that needs to know before he can give me a quote. Cheers Trev
  7. If you've got an active front spoiler and want to shift it I might be interested. If that is the case, I say get the front bumper
  8. Thanks I've tried ringing the closest garage possible and they are going to get me a quote on the parts so ill keep you posted
  9. Personally I think as these cars get older and if they make the transisition to classic status then you'll find factory standard cars will be worth more. As for kits, wheels etc I don't think you can ever plan to increase the value of your car unless they are serious modifications such as expensive brakes and engine upgrades. The only exception I would think would be kits like the widebody TRD 3000 kits which are rare and if official then probably would increase the value. Trev
  10. Could you possibly order some for me from there if I call my garage and ask them to cancel the order on the discs and pads? Trev
  11. Too late now, the garage has been given the green light and are expecting the parts on Monday.
  12. If its only saving a few quid then its probably not worth it. I just wanted to get peoples opinions on the price based on the fact they are ferodo discs and not Toyota OEM.
  13. Right. My local garage is fitting an exchange unit caliper and ferodo discs and pads on Monday. They have estimated it to be £380+VAT. Just want to check that I should be paying this much for replacement parts and those discs? Trev
  14. I am sure they will charge me for finding the fault. Its just they aren't a specialist so I was concerned that they might charge me too much for the parts. Not concerned about labour charges as I imagine they will be the same where ever. Ill get them to break down the cost of the parts and labour and post up here to see how they compare to others on cost.
  15. No, can't even notice it at slow speed and a knocking noise occurs at motorway speeds. Just worried that the garage might have already stripped the brake down and might not drive the same if they refit the disc and pad. Trev
  16. Theres no way I can trailor it so it might be a case of sticking with the current garage
  17. Just spoke to Silverstone garage. They are a 40min drive away and are going to give me a quote. They said they would probably just stick a new piston on rather than save the old one. Would it be ok to drive the car there with the current brakes? Trev
  18. Hi Chris, just sent you a PM. They are jspec brakes (2 piston). Is it likely this type of caliper can be saved rather than replaced or it it not worth it? The reason I ask is because the calipers are both painted and decalled so replacing one means recoating the calipers, another job I could do without. Trev
  19. Not trying to skrimp on the brakes but don't want to pay a garage too much if they are saying that the parts for the car are specialist because its an import. I've tried contacting Chris Wilson to see if he can help supply parts. Trev
  20. They quoted me £380+Vat for the whole job, does that sound right then?
  21. Just found these discs. Would they fit the Supra?
  22. Hi All I urgently require a set of front discs and pads for my Jspec NA supra. Any recommendations on suppliers, individuals etc welcome. Thanks Trevor
  23. Right. Just got off the phone from the garage. They say the piston has seized and and say the need to fix the piston and replace the discs and pads on the car. Total is £446.50. Sounds like a lot to me. Does anyone know anyone local that can do the job cheaper. Also the garage has offered to fit the parts if I get them so would that be better and if so which discs and pads should I get. Any help would be really appreciated as I am a bit gutted at the moment. Thanks Trevor
  24. Yeah I totally understand that things like this go wrong. This is my third supra and generally the last 2 were great cars. Like I said overall I am very pleased with the car it would just have been nice to not have any issues so soon after buying the car. Trev
  25. Its booked it at a local garage tomorrow to hopefully work out whats wrong. Can I ask how much a new front Jspec caliper would be?
