  1. Here is a picture of my car I took at the weekend. You can hardly notice the colour difference from most angles but looking at the car straight on and its very obvious that the bumper doesn't match. Its driving me nuts, need to get it sorted ASAP
  2. He's based in the midlands somewhere so might be worth a trip to take a look at the bumper this weekend if he still has it. You never know it might match up, but if doesn't then a respray it is
  3. here is the bumper in question thats for sale: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/standard-blue-supra-bumper_W0QQitemZ190194856101QQihZ009QQcategoryZ10428QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. So best bet is to get it resprayed and blended?
  5. Well the bumper for sale is from a body shop and all i know is that it has come from a 96 supra. As mine has faded I am either thinking of trying to get this one as cheap as I can hoping it will match or it will have to be a full respray which is looking likely to be £200. Any ideas of how much I should be looking to pay for a front bumper?
  6. Do the bumpers have any colour code on them? If so I can get the guy to check the original stamp
  7. Cheers Pete, your a star. Any ideas about the cool water blue colour, is this a stock colour?
  8. Hi there Does anyone know the paintcode for an RSP supra? Mine is a facelift 96 (p reg) NA model. Also I have seen a bumper for sale but the guy selling it says its cool water blue. He says its from a facelift 96 supra so is this a stock supra colour, I have never heard of it? Thanks
  9. Hi all This might be a repost but I was just checking out the wiki page for the mkiv supra and there is a fact on it about the braking system that I found very remarkable. 'This unique Formula One inspired braking system allowed the Supra Turbo to record a 70-0 braking distance of 149 feet (45m) , the best braking performance of any production car tested in 1997 by Car and Driver magazine. This record was finally broken in 2004 by 3 feet by a Porsche GT.' Is this true?
  10. Think there seems to be some crazy comparisons going on here between Supra's, MR2's and hot hatchs like the focus st. If all you want is a car that goes from 0-60 in 4 seconds then buy a caterham or lightweight sports car The purpose of the Supra is completly different. Its not a race car is a GT. Its built for speed and comfort. Driving at a consitant high speed is what a supra does best. They might do 0-60 in 7+ seconds but it will sit at 100+ mph all day without any bother. They have a boot, back seats and a fairly roomy cabin non of which an mr2 has. The other thing the Supra has is a look thats aged better than pretty much any other 13 year old car on the road. If you look at the sort of cars that were being built the Supra stands out as still having looks that demands attention. I also like the history of the Supra. In 93 toyota produced the BEST car they could, with the BEST technology they had with the aim to produce a SUPERCAR that was easy to drive and live with, quiet comfortable but could carry speeds that were reserved for porsche owners. These cars also cost £40k back in the day so when you buy a supra your not buying a focus with a few bits bodged on the car, your buying a piece of history, a car that has been purpose designed and built for the job it does and a car that stood on the same platform as porches and ferraris of that era. Move on 13 years and if you want the same sort of car from ford then its not a focus its the new ford GT. A GT car, the best car ford can produce, purpose built & designed and the fookin expensive price tag reflects that. In the grand scheme of things hot hatches like the Focus ST will be forgotten quickly as soleless granny wagons that had a splash of paint here and a few engine mods there but the Ford GT has a story as does the Supra which is why it is and always will be a special car to own. p.s. I own a £40k supercar, and proud of it!
  11. What year vipers are you refering to. The new srt-10's or the older models like the GTS and the rt-10. I am not a massive fan of the older vipers but an srt-10 coupe in blue with white stripes would be my ideal car http://photos2.ebizautos.com/43/2469972_45.jpg
  12. I have just done a bit of price calculating based on the importing guide that I found and have put together a list of a few US cars. The list comprises of the US price, which is the cost of the cheapest US car I could find including shipping, taxes etc. The list also has the UK price which is the price of cheapest equivilent listed on autotrader.co.uk and how much you would save when importing yourself. -------------------------- 05 Mustang GT (v8 version) -------------------------- US Price: £12223.25 UK Price: £17500 Saving: £5276.75 -------------------------- 05 Corvette C6 -------------------------- US Price: £21917 UK Price: £27000 Saving: £5083 -------------------------- 07 Shelby GT500 Mustang -------------------------- US Price: £28379.50 UK Price: £40000 Saving: £11620.50 -------------------------- 04 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Convertible -------------------------- US Price: £28961.13 UK Price: £35000 Saving: £6038.87 -------------------------- Corvette Z06 -------------------------- US Price: £38719.50 UK Price: £51000 Saving: £12280.50 -------------------------- 06 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe -------------------------- US Price: £43824.87 No UK price for comparison So there you go, clearly some great savings to be made if your thinking about getting an american car.
  13. This is what you need then: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-SHELBY-MUSTANG-GT-500-FREE-WORLD-WIDE-SHIPPING_W0QQitemZ330205843817QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item330205843817 free worldwide shipping
  14. What sort of car would you be interested in importing?
  15. Just found this guide which seems very useful http://www.import-car.info/times2.shtml
  16. Not too sure really. Theres some real bargains to be had in the states at the moment as the pound is so strong. I'd be very tempted by a corvette c6 or mustang.
  17. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about importing cars from the USA? With the pound so strong against the dollar now might be a good time to look into buying some american muscle. What I need to know is: - how much would it cost to ship a car across - What regulations, tests, paperwork, certificates etc would the car have to meet to get it registered Also if anyone knows of any guides on importing cars or contacts that would be great. Thanks
  18. I like mine fairly standard and shiny
  19. No Stratford is my home town so not far at all. Can you give the details for them. Also do they have a website or have you got any pictures of your respray. I'd be keen to see the quality of the work.
  20. So any recommendations on bodyshops anyone?
  21. Not after a new nose, just want to get the current one resprayed but looking at fitting the active front spoiler lip that came as standard on the TT cars. Didn't know if it would be easier to get a bodyshop to fit it to the bumper while its off the car for the respray?
  22. Also I have been thinking about getting an active front spoiler fitted. Does it make sense to get this done at the same time while the bumper is off the car?
  23. Hi everyone I am looking for a company to respray the front bumper of my Supra in RSP as the bumper has faded and doesn't match the rest of the car. You can see the problem in these images So can anyone recommend any good bodyshops, preferably in the midlands area? Also any ideas on cost. I have been told about £200 should cover it for a good job Cheers
  24. Cool, any ideas how much i should be looking at for a respray or any decent bodyshops?
