  1. Hi, Further to Steves post I have only one key for my 94 import Supra. Apparantly its has an immobiliser fitted, although I have no idea how to tell. I have central locking as well. What info would I need to take to Toyota to get a spare cut and "coded(?)" for the immobiliser? Cheers
  2. So guys (and gals), Am I OK just using normal unleaded from a variety of different stations in my SZ? Or should I be using the expensive stuff....or is that only really necessary in the Turbos? Mainly just have a 5 mile run to work and after that motorway or dual carriageways. On a better note had a little blast to 140mph (indicated) the other day (then got up to traffic and was a bit worried about the cops). Had thrashed my Prelude 2.3i to indicate thisonce , but was screaming its head off. This felt nice, and had a bit more as well. Also had indicated 125 in 3rd at the redline mark. Love this car more every time I get in it!! Does this sound about normal?
  3. Ermmm confused now. I thought the NA was the UK equivalent of the SZ. So what exactly is my Jap Auto non turbo?
  4. Ok, last problem thats worrying me now is...Im off to Cardiff this weekend am a little worried about getting a puncture. Apparently, I have AVS Alloys 18" and am just wondering would I be able to slip on the stock spare wheel if I need to? Even if its just to get me off the road a couple of miles.
  5. Best thing to do is to disable system restore before running your antivirus software scan. Some deleted files are reloaded by system restore on rebooting the machine. Hope this helps Simple tips are: 1. Always update your Anti Virus 2. Use an up to date adaware program And most importantly: Dont keep putting scans off!!!!!
  6. Damn, only problem now being that as I only have the one motor I cant get back if I take it down to Envy to do. (I wanna change the dials and lighting as well). This keeps gettin worse...surely there must be somewhere around Glasgow that deals with Supras and are reputable.
  7. How hard is it to strip out? Also if I take the car to say Envy, how do I drive it back if it takes more than a day? Am looking at getting the brushed aluminium like Hornets.
  8. Hi, Just joined and received the e-mail from your good self asking to confirm my user id. How do we go about getting the Membership card and stickers. Do I have to send you my address, or will you contact me in the future. Not being pushy but just unsure where we go next. Cheers Billy
  9. Thanks again Homer. As Ive no idea about what I should be using in my car is there anywhere on the site that gives recommendations of what oils etc to be using, even if I should be using Super unleaded or normal. What differences would it make? As I said before not very car wise but dont want to be messing this up before Ive even got started. Will be giving Envy a ring tomorrow to see if I can get it booked in for a thorough lookover (I know its after the horse has bolted). But even things like servicing schedules etc I have no idea over. Things on my immediate list to do are: 1. Get a checkover and any suggested work done. 2. Get a new MP3 capable CD system. I have a double sized Kenwood CD/MD/Jap radio fitted but would prefer a single. Are blanking plates or pref a "receptacle" like item available to put in the hole? 3. Have a bit of wear to the leather on the shifter and the handbrake so looking to sort that out. 4. Cleaning: Recommendations inside and out. Dash cleaner to give a nice glossy type of shine. And I know this will sound stupid but Ive always done car washes, so recommendations on how to get a good clean and shiny outside look. And best cloths/soaps/shampoos etc. 5. And gonna look at changing the dash look, and deffo the steering wheel. Then again if I do that I'd like to change the shifter and gearstick to match. I presume if I pop to Envy they could help with all this though.
  10. Just found these in the Tech Section... Are these for real??? Bloody hell if they are. Gearbox:- 2JZ-GTE AUTO 4-spd Tyre:- Michelin all patterns 235/45 x 17 Top Gear gives 27.497 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 192.478 MPH at 7000 RPM Engine speeds in top gear:- 30 MPH = 1091 RPM 40 MPH = 1455 RPM 50 MPH = 1818 RPM 60 MPH = 2182 RPM 70 MPH = 2546 RPM 80 MPH = 2909 RPM 90 MPH = 3273 RPM 100 MPH = 3637 RPM Top Speed in 1 gear = 48.394 MPH And changes into 2 gear at 3822 RPM dropping 3178 RPM Top Speed in 2 gear = 88.633 MPH And changes into 3 gear at 4572 RPM dropping 2428 RPM Top Speed in 3 gear = 135.697 MPH And changes into 4 gear at 4935 RPM dropping 2065 RPM Top Speed in 4 gear = 192.478 MPH
  11. Thanks for that Homer. I have heard that Envy, based just outside Newcastle, are quite good at this sort of stuff. As you said I'd rather have a complete check over now and deal with any problems, than ignore and find later that I could have prevented anything becoming major. Can anyone recommend any places in Scotland to get a decent checkover done. Any personal experience, as I obviously dont want to take it to some cowboy outfit. Am also looking at personalising my own little cockpit area so am looking for ideas along those lines Cheers
  12. Paid £7k for it. Dont know if its good value or not yet really. Looked nice, drove well as far as my somewhat limited knowledge could tell. So whopped over 7k. Now, even if its a bad deal, please nobody come on and tell me Im an idiot. I do compulsive...not considered!!
  13. Gonna have to get used to it. Just had my first slide. Coming round a roundabout from work (industrial estate so its empty), Was quite greasy, and put my foot down maybe a bit too much too early. Back end went all over the show and only just managed not to end up facing the other way. Was kinda cool, but wouldnt have been if there was anything else about. Funny thing is that I could usually go round it no problem with the Prelude. Gonna have to learn to drive all over again I think. Only had it 2 days now and been more of a thrill than 4 years with a prelude.
  14. Once again thanks for all the nice comments. Getrag, sorry but can,t make the 26th as going to Cardiff to watch Liverpool in the Carling cup final. Games on Sun but booked hotel already...damn!! As an aside, havent got a ticket yet if anyone knows anyone.. But at least I will be driving down in my new Supe. As for shiny car...not at moment after the drive from kent to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Am tempted to put it through carwash tonight. Any real objections to this? Advice on how to get the best "gleam" would be appreciated as will have to have it looking its best for next wekend. Also any recomendations on good dash sprays to get a more glossy look. As an aside, as I took my old car to the airport and my bruv in law flew to Kent with me (he knows a bit more bout cars than me). Anyway, the insurance was changed to the Supra at 12pm but he was driving it to his house after I drove back to the airport. Unfortunately he got pulled for speeding and has to show docs to police station. Does anyone know if I present my old insurance cert (valid till 7th April) the police will check up? Feel a bit guilty but I had said that I would drive it. He's used to an MPV so was delighted to be getting my Prelude 2.3i for a bit.
  15. Guys/Gals, Any chance of a quick brief on all the abbreviations you use on here as im finding some of the threads really interesting....then getting completely lost. For example, I think Ive worked out that a NA is equivalent to a SZ....maybe. Is it because ones a UK spec and ones an import? And does J spec mean Japenese Spec. Differences between Aero and TT whatever????? Also some of the signatures soung great...unfortunately I have no idea what a decal, spats, or some of the more weird sounding things are. I'm willing to learn though if you have the time and the patience.
  16. Thanks for the welcome everyone! Ref the meet. I live in Arbroath anyway so its no big deal for me to get to Dundee (apart from Dual Carriage way upgrade). Followed the link but when is the meet, and what time etc. I have a bad feeling your going to say 27th which is when Im away. As I said earlier I dont really do/know anything mechanical and it would have been a good chance to at least figure out what half of the abbreviations on here mean Anyway, if you can confirm the date it would be appreciated. Cheers
  17. Thanks for the reply jake. So: 1. Overdrive selected (on) if I want to "thrash it a bit"? 2. How does this work when driving as I certainly dont want to pop it into 2nd or reverse with the shifter. 3. Ok, so I'm never likely to be using this hat much then. You can prob tell its my first automatic. Just getting rid of a Prelude 2.3i 4ws. Is the body kit type any good or poor (I like the look not sure of quality though) Is it worth getting a different exhaust can from the stock one. Apart from the looks what does it give me (better "roar"?). And are there any recommendations? I would like to make the car as nice as I can now that I've eventually got one but am seriously not mechanically minded
  18. Hi, Just thought I'd join the site as I have just picked up my first ever Supra today and am still buzzing. Fell in love with the looks years ago and have eventually got one of my own. Well chuffed today. Anyway I may be posting in the wrong place really as Im unsure if mine is deffo a mark 4 or not. Hope you guys can help. Also as its a Jap import maybe a few other things you could help with. Firstly its a 1994 3.0i non turbo (sz?) automatic. I know the manual is probably a better option but as I said, I bought it for its looks really, not to boy race it all over town. Most pressing questions are about the buttons surrounding the selector: 1. The overdrive button? Normal motorway running is it better off or on, and what difference does it make. Didnt appear much as I was messing with it. 2. Ditto the manual button 3. What exactly is the red button at the front of the selector? All instructions are in Japenese and unfortunately that wasnt a subject when I went to school. Any info on the bodykit type would be appreciated as well if you can. Heres a pic or 2 anyway.
