yep better safe than sorry!! PS if you dont mind mate, where in kent are you? and where did you get your work done?
-
is a good idea mate, but don't think there is anyone close that could help, plus cant really move the car much from the garage where it is incase i make things worse.. Also wouldn't mind the garage to find out for def what the problem is..
-
Umm off hand prob' 10K give or take
-
Paul @ whifbitz got the engine and refurb' rebuilt it (with all new bits, inc pumps etc) around 4 years back.. as said been running sweet as a nut until now..
-
Thanks for a rough idea.. off to find the missus's credit card!!
-
Thanks for the advice all, will see what the garage has to say. (fingers crossed) Pretty skint at the moment due to the house needing me to bleed money, will get it fixed probably pretty much what ever happens (within reason), even if its to sell on to cover costs. Pitty i dont have the space, time, tools or know-how to do it myself.. Hope its good news from the garage! the bloke is a ex toyota mechanic with a good rep' so i trust him to see me right.. He's the only other person who has worked on it other than paul @ Whifbitz (who is just that bit to far away when i dont want to travel in a car not at 100%)

Starting to get worried about fixing cost now.. what with a new house and other stuff, going to have to think long and hard about the pennies! If its going to be a lot you may see a "how much is it worth" thread soon... @rse... Had the Supe for over 7 years and not had any problems apart from a clutch cable go.. Don't want to but cost dependent i may have to say good bye... cant think of not having the supra...Not to mention the fun times in it, plus all mods i've saved for and had done over the years.. (from stock na auto to TT 6sp, BPU, suspension, exhaust, kit, wheels..etc, etc) off now to cry in the corner... sob,sob

Thanks Dunk, Thanks kinda what i was thinking but i am not to tec' minded with the inner parts of the motor.. If you know, whats the kind of work involved on sorting a shell? just hope it hasn't affected the crank as well?!?!?
-
Thanks for reply Dnk. Hi, Yeah i know people will just be guessing.. suppose same as the garage until they pull the motor out.. just trying to get a heads up on the bad news.. (starts crying and planning on a begging meeting with the bank!) Cant get a vid at the mo, as car is at the garage and I am in work... Def coming from the engine and would say bottom end (cant get under the bugger to pin point due to body kit) yep speeds up and slows down with rev's even out of gear when static...

Had a bit of a knocking/tapping noise last time I used the car a couple of weeks back, Its due for a mot and service so I didn't use it until today when taking it to the garage. I've dropped it off this morning and the noise was worse.. the garage is going to have a look at it and get back to me, I have a quick look under the lid and couldn't seem to see anything wrong I am thinking it could be the bottom end/crank? anyone had anything like this? Expecting a call from the garage sometime today/tomorrow when they get to have a good look, also expecting them to say they have to have the block out to investigate.. My wallet is worried?!?!? Anyone with previous on this kind of problem.. ta in advance... Ian

Hi mate, My sister works for a school for special learning, autism and development.. i'll try and have a chat with her mate and see if i can get any info.. (think she is away at the mo' but i'll try and get back to you asap)

thanks for the pointers. Most I have on the "to do" list.. think the hotel is not far from times square and only a few blocks from C.Park, really looking forward to it.. May miss the Intrepid though, It would be something i wouldn't mind seeing but with all the other options and the time scale I don't think the missus' would put it high on the list (or Coyote Ugly)! Was also thinking of Conney Island, maybe just because i loved the film "The warriors" when i was younger! Was also looking at Man vrs food and looking at where he went for some stupid huge deli sandwiches!!! just for the experience.. Keron: thanks for the bus pointer, will keep eyes out for those. clapyohands: BK? you mean Brooklyn? Mooret: yeah, sort of looking forward to seeing the areas as much as the normal sights. will have to see how much the express passes are!! Supraland: ta, will look out for shake shake.

first of all... hi all! haven't been on here for a bit! Thought I would use your wealth of info for any recommendations of good places to visit in New York.. I know the usual touristy stuff (which will probably get a visit) but if any one has been there and found places worth a visit that may get overlookedin the usual "things you must see", let me know? Ta.

Had supra a week - comments from work.. Should I be annoyed?
IDO replied to supra_aero's topic in Supra Chat
I must be lucky then, never really had any bad comments (well not to my face) about the supra. Think the only one was "where is that silly white monster you normally scrape the floor with?", but hope that was a joke. other than the missus who was forever slating the practicality of it (too low/two doors/ not much boot only really 2 seats.. blah blah blah) but she does like the looks of the supe'.. probably find in present times where people are thinking MPG rather than BHP all sporty cars will be snipped at.. same way 4x4's were a while back.. also cars that look mod'ed will always be a target for comments, either from purists or people who think its a waste to spend money on a car as a hobby. End of day, your car.. if your happy with it F*_• em', if you don't want the comments, follow then and get the ford ka! -
If TT Paul doesn't want it, drop me a pm as I may be interested.. Ps does it come with the pins? If I were to collect what size car do you recon it would fit in? Ta.
-
If you get stuck drop me a pm mate i'll do it.. can print it for you too...
-
mine in the last pic.. don't tell me you missed mitchells orange supe'? it was almost next to Ravens? yeah the white one in the first pic was up for sale, 18k.. couldn't tell you spec though?!?!
-
your car still looked great mate, well deserved win.. looking back maybe not the best day for me to wear a white hoody! although me having a white car did seem to be a bonus as it didn't seem to show the dust as much! (unlike the hoody!). Hope Raven can get the dust out of his interia! can't believe how much dust there was... Ps will pm you details about that part/store.

Ta, They are nice wheels, and def' a great price.. i saw these http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/m/mGHlT6i16rtqPr0-PFw3GSg/140.jpg as was thinking about refurbing them the same way.. i'll have to have a think and a photoshop session, only drawback is i am not sure of the look of the 5 spokes with my kit, think the multi-spoke works better.. Great buy for anyone after nice, rare, split rims though... surprised they haven't been snapped up already.
-
ummmm... thinking about those wheels mate.. couple of quick questions if thats cool? A) how much do you recon for a re-furb on them any idea? B) do they look as though they would clear bigger brakes than the uk std' ones? (just thinking ahead, as bigger brakes could be the next buy) thanks
-
should look great mate.. Be warned mate as its the same make as mine (i know its not the same kit)... but if its the same height as mine its pretty low at the front if thats what you mean by deep?!?! if i sneeze hard the nose hits the deck... have to be care full with any form of gradients.. from multi story car parks to getting of my own drive and most of the local petrol station forecourts!!!
-
As marcAB10 says thats the explosion kit on mine in the pic in his link.. as said its the same make just a different model.. The signature is nice too.. i choose my one as i prefer the skirts, and as the whole thing came from japan i didn't want to try and mix and match incase it didn't work/fit together. Not sure on the copies mentioned in the thread earlier but as far as i know my orig' kit was a great fit and no trouble ( no adjustment needed) for the bodyshop, hope the ones bought are from a decent copy mould as they should be half decent fit..
-
Its the same make as mine (evolution) but mine is the "explosion" not the "signature".. Got my kit from Paul Whiffen @ whifbitz, it had to be imported from japan though, if the ebay is a copy and you want the orig' try giving him a shout.
