  1. ian c the definition of complete is simple... as i say the install of the kit that i have is complete. now the car as i have explained is running, but has a problem on tickover, other than that it is realy good progress in my eyes. the problems could be as you say due to not having boost sensitive regulator or something as simple as a vac line put in the wrong place ? or lambder sensor have you done an na-t conversion ian if you have i would be interested in picking your brains (i spoke to tdaxgav today and he was so helpfull it was quite impressive ) p.s nic "Deja-Vu" sorry about having asked similar questions as before. but before the questions were theory and now the results i have are fact and i have to try and resolve them here in. . .
  2. hey tdaxgav thanks for responding so quick is it ok if i call you at somepoint i need somone with brains i can pick
  3. who knows the most about this sort of fault finding as it could be lambder sensor/vacume pipes please excuse my stupidity if anyone would mind i would love to have a chat to someone very knowledgable if so can someone pm me your number please i am desperate for ideias
  4. Hey all i wonder if anyone can help i have just finished my na-t install now i have started the car without making any adjustments to my safcII, and the car is running very rich black smoke out the exhaust and runs very lumpy on tickover. now is this to be expected as i have not made any adjustments to the safcII. . . after 1000 to 1500 rmp the lumpyness goes and the car is very responsive i assume i have to adjust the safc II to compensate for the fact i have got larger injectors (440cc) on tickover or am i missing the point if you can please help also i have got a wideband O2 sensor installed i have got to recalibrate it and then i can get some readings
  5. you lot are awesome thanks to all for the info
  6. p.s i am currently fitting a turbo to my n-a. . . so i am earning my stars lol thats why i am asking i have just uprated the headgasket and want to check if i am putting the belt back properly tensioned
  7. yeh loads mate. . have you found any instructions? its more about the cam bet tensioner than anything any removeal and replacement instructions will help thanks dude
  8. Hey does anybody know where i can find some instructions on changing a cam belt(timing belt) on a j-spec n-a. I have not got the covers off yet, so i cant see if its obvious to do or not :0
  9. John A you are a star that is just what i wanted, Thank you so much for your time
  10. Cheers Chaps that was helpfull it should be easy
  11. hello all sorry ive been quiet for a while just wondering has anybody got a guide to removing a Cylinder head on a n/a the project is comming on Lol
  12. Hey dibbs i hear your good with spanners i may have to call on you if you dont mind. p.s thanks for the positive vote earlier in the thread
  13. Yeh i agree i think i will have to go down this road, the e-manage is one system but i was thinking about getting a complete aftermarket ECU but its just the cost involved . . . . mmm p.s if anybody has got any family members they no longer want let me know, and i can cut them up and sell their organs on the black market.its just an ideia for raising a bit more cash . . . . . (i feel sick now after sugesting that)
  14. oh wicked i have done something you all think is good te he hey but seriously i am chuffed i have brought the right thing thanks guys
  15. I have just ordered my wideband programable air/fuel controler . . this seems to be the kiddy what do you all think? This unit seems to be better than the AEM gauge in its adaptability and modability. it has a data logging facility and connects to the pc and you can modify the ratio to get the stoich just right. the website is http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/xd1.php I hope this should solve any fueling concerns i had about running lean and such like
  16. thanks all this is gonna be interesting i hope ... and as for an IT bloke with a spanner that sounds scary lol
  17. thanks gav i am putting in a lot of time to this and i am more than willing to take any advice. I have a good engineering knowledge and fabrication skills so fitting the kit should not be too much of a problem (i am such an optomist). the tuning i am not sure on but hopefully i can get some advice from here if anyone is still talking to me.lol
  18. i assume you could drill the hole then put a pen magnet in to pic up the swarf its an ideia
  19. yeh that was me what were you doing round this neck of the woods do you live near ..... if so would be nice to meet up
  20. nic im not sure if you are to lazy to read the whole thread but you will perhaps find out if you read it all. . i have had nothing but good advice from members such as: adj2009 cj ianc aleex tdaxgav terry s these members have given some good advice and i have listened. . . if you or homer have a problem with my typing i would apreciate it if you do not post any more replys. . . i dont understand why i am getting such a negative response from these guys . . if you read the thread from the start i was just asking about an air/fuel ratio display, then one guy asked what my setup was and that is fine i replyed saying the kit i have brought and the contents . . this is the same spec as the kit you will get from vortex, so i dont understand why you are being like this. i am more than interested to listen to anyone i just dont appreciate it when people call me lazy. or that i dont want this thread to go on for ages i thought that this was the point of the forum was to ask questions and try and understand the replys. i have not done much forced induction tuning but i am trying to learn. i will be calling the tuners but i thought i would leave it till monday. . . . . please tell me if i have done something to upset anyone else i seem to be on a roll i thought it was just homer now yourself. . . .
  21. yeh but i think they wanteted to fit it for some extra money(not too expensive) but i want to fit it myself its the only way im gonna learn about this, trial and error (hopefully not error) as i said earlier the way i see it as long as i am not running too much boost and not running lean i cant see that i can do too much damage i hope. then once i get the basic system set up and running i can get it put into a tuner and get the final touches done. from there i can then start to play with adding other components do you think this sounds like a plausable plan ?
  22. no this is from an american company i have not had chance to speak to vortex yet
