Bloody hell how olds this Yeah got the car back, fortunatly it didn't sustain any structural damage, they did a great jo fixing it up. Considering the impact the car sustained, I can safely say Supras' are built like shithouses The cost was around £5000 for repairs and £2000 for car hire. The process to get the car back did piss me off though as it took several months, this was mainly due to the car being an import and their claim they had to get Jap parts, which was a passenger door. May have had something to do with my folding mirrors. Happy now though

Thanks mate. I thought as much, they can never get it right -
I think Toyota have made a mistake. Front T04465-14390 Rear T0446614040 These are for a Turbo with large brakes (UK spec or later Jap) according to local dealer. Been checking part numbers on the net and fronts above look wrong, I have a feeling they are for a Non-Turbo or small brakes??? Anyway if someone has access to the codes would be most appreciated, as I've paid for these

Heat is obviously a bad thing. All I know is my Blitz induction increases my boost by 2psi, so it's staying on If you are sticking with stock it might be an idea to use a TRD air filter in the stock box, as they claim in flows more air than the stock filter.

That is cheap, I paid £120 for one. See one on e-bay for £85 but missed that. Whats the UK Denso price? £255?

Yeah ear to ear Just renewed my membership here tonight, so I'll keep an eye on the meets if any are happening our way.

You fitted this yet mate? I can lend a hand, but doubt you'd need it. Fitted a Walbro on Sunday, easy to do, only arsing about was with the wiring loom, but if you get the UK pump you won't have that problem.

Cheers Dave, yeah they have done a good job. I'll take your advice and get someone to look at it, be very suprised if it is the gearbox after reading about how sturdy they are. Hopefully it's the clutch then. Catch up with you later mate, and yeah arrange a beer soon

No only coming down from 3rd to 2nd. A while back I did have a slipping clutch due to the power I was running (I guess) I fitting a restrictor ring and the slipping stopped. So you think it maybe clutch related?

Just had the car returned after 2 months away getting fix after an accident, problem is I now have a noisy gearbox. Basically what happens is when coming down in gears from 3rd to 2nd the gear stick vibrates and makes a noise, which sounds like its at the rear of the car. Now this only happens from 3rd to 2nd at high/mid revs around 4000 revs, doesn't happen in any other gear and it's only on the downshift. At low revs it doesn't happen either. You can floor it in 1st through to 2nd hit 6000 revs then lay off and no vibration or noise, only happens coming down from 3rd to 2nd. Other than that the gearbox and car drive fine. Annoying thing is the gearbox had no problems when I handed it over or before the accident Any ideas?

I have read lots of claims that above 1.1 bar on stock turbos efficiency is greatly reduced, due to heat I guess. I personally haven't noticed any difference between 1.1 and 1.4 bar. 1.2 bar seems to be the benchmark here, as lots of us have be running that for years. I have been running 1.1 - 1.2 for 3 years, obviously the life of the turbos is reduced, but I haven't had any problems yet. Get a restrictor plate from Chris, he gets the boost spot on. He did in my case. Just tell him what you want to run. You may find this article interesting......http://www.supras.com/~riemer/sonictech/mk4/bup_not.html

Turns out it they had mistaken a “T” for a “J” Even after I had written it down for them, gave the reg to the second copper and even gave it over the phone to the controller. Had an interesting conversation with the copper dealing with the incident. Basically she reckoned there isn't alot they will do him for, as they can only get him on driving away from an accident. She said most get a standard £200 fine and 3-6 points. Some come out with cock n' ball stories like they were rushing home as their wife was sick and needed rushing to the hospital, all that old bollocks, and get away with it. I have 6 months in which to decide on whether I want to take it further. She advised me to speak to the independant witness and make sure he's on my side or wants to appear in court, according to the law he can refuse, as nobody was killed or seriously hurt. Without the witness it's his word against mine, and in those cases it never makes it to court. And as I suspected he can also turn this back onto me, by saying I threaten him or assaulted him, as unfortunatly for me the witness left the scene before the Police arrived and before the guy did a runner Could be a Police tactic to scary me off, but what she said had a ring of truth and believability in this Country today.

Those are the same plugs I use, at around 1.1 - 1.2 bar work fine, nice cold plug. I have to change them every year, sometimes twice a year is best. Oh and I advise you Decat as soon as possible You won't regret it

Anyone know the part number for the Earth connector to the battery?
Andrew replied to Andrew's topic in mkiv Technical
Top stuff guys, thanks! I already bought the possitive connector, cost £13 -
Went to Toyota this morning, they found a part number for the Positive connector, but can't find the code for the Earth/Negitive connector. Even Toyota's supplier can't find it. I'm converting them over to the UK spec ones which I believe are slightly bigger. If anyone has the part number, or even an idea what they call the Earth/Negitive connector, would be most appreciated Cheers.

Neither of those If you saw the Ad which can be found on the internet, you wouldn't even know who he is, I didn't. Showing it to the old folks it was "Yeah I know him, it's err you know thingy." Funny you should say that, when I said to a member of my insurnace's legal team that I knew who it was, she said, "Yeah so do I but I can't say." At the time she had his insurance on the other phone trying to arrange a car for me. As Sakura said I take it it's my legal right to get the details about the 3rd party from them?
-
Unfortunatly he doesn't do a car Ad for them, that would be hilarious. He does an Ad for equity release, same company. They are running loads of ads at the moment for car insurance, can't mention it here, as I wouldn't want to get people in trouble I'll blow the whistle once it's all sorted legally Solicitors are involved at the moment, just a very slow process.

I'll pursue it to the bitter end. No bastard fucks up my Supra and gets away with it Just amazes how casual they are about it.

For some that may or may not know I was involved in an accident last month. I was hit by a person’s car that does a certain advert for a certain insurance company. This person was pissed out of his mind and fled the scene of the accident before the police arrived. Police took my details and the registration of his car, which I had written down. Reported it to my insurance and they managed to track his insurance down, bloke admitted liability and now my car is being fixed at his insurance’s expense to the tune of £5000 (so far). I am also suing him for damages to my back and neck. This was one month ago. Received a letter from the Met Police this morning. FFS, how can they not be able to trace him? The only reason I even got a reply from the Met was because I have been ringing them every week for the last 4 weeks. I assume the insurance companies and the Met use the DVLA database to track cars? Either they are a dopey bunch of ***** or someone’s been straightened up. What I want to know is where’s my bung for keeping my mouth shut?? I guess this coming out or going to court could seriously damage their massive ad campaign they are running at the moment for car insurance. I’m tempted to turn down any compensation they offer me, just so I can drag this to the courts. Law in this country is a joke, be fucked if I’m ever putting my hands up to a speeding ticket again.
