if it pulls to one side when gently breaking it could well be a caliper sticking.im sure they only visualy check the pads to see how much meat is left on them.the brake test is a ratio of the cars weight to its breaking performance its got to be something like 50%. it may just be one of those things a coincidence.

I wanted a manual but ended up with a bpu auto ,i have no regrets.it drives like a pussy cat in traffic,then rips your eyeballs out when you nail it,.The gear change is so smooth and it just keeps going. when i was looking i was told that about 1 in 20 cars were manual ,take an auto out for a spin it may surprise you.
