Sounds like a good idea to me...although I would question the Queens head and "good beer" - might suggest changing this to the Fox and Hounds at the top of Crowd Hill (about a mile from the QH)... Wouldn't be able to do every meet, but would give it a good go!

OK I've tried looking through the FAQ's but I'm probably just too lazy to keep going! A while back I had the cam position sensor replaced - when it was faulty the car was idling at around 1200rpm....now fixed and we're back at around 800 - hooray! That is until I turn the lights on...idle speed immediatley goes to 1200 and will stay there, even if you turn the lights off...however if you turn the engine off and re -start; everything is back to normal (i.e 800rpm with lights on). This characteristic is un-affected as to which lights you switch on (side or full). Stew

The front of my car used to look like this...however that was before running into a f*****g speed bump at the weekend ...This was obviously not the first time this had happened, as the whole bottom section of the spoiler is now in small pieces, having been cunningly glued back together with Carplan (or similar) the first time. A while back I was told this was a Bomex front...anyone know where to get another one??? If so how much am I looking at?? If too expensive I guess its back to the Carplan option! Cheers Stew

Admiral certainly will offer to mirror NCB...but you have to push for it...on the phone (not online). I have an RSR on mine with full decat - it doesn't suffer as much from the "hangin low" problem some of the others seem to have....in terms of noise as others have said this is purely personal preference...you'll probably have to go to a meet and hear them all for yourself :-) In terms of power I'm not sure what the exact actual bhp figure increase is - but due to the quicker spooling of the turbos it feels like "a lot"! Traction Control will cut in on mine in third gear now at about 70 if I really give it some - previously this was only noticable from a standing start...if that's any sort of guide! You're not too far from me, if you want a local -ish expert to go to (Chris Wilson is a fair way away) - try whiffbitz - they're in North London...I'd go for the fuel pump upgrade and Iridiums at the same time too...... Thanks for the note.... I can't actually check the levels until the weekend as I'm working away from home...I check the oil regularly and the filler cap doesn't have any creamy depsosits or anything.....

I've had the car de-catted for a while now, but yesterday was the first time I'd really driven it hard since they were taken out. So scenario is - spirted driving for a while - then engine is left ticking over for approx 2 mins...Everything is mighty warm (oil temp around 95 ish), blip the throttle and I get a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust...not a huge amount though - had it been a cooler day I would have said that this would have been the normal "steam" you get when the engine is first switched on...however surely not when the air temp is around 25?? I've heard that removing the cats can sometimes result in smoke from a warn engine...but I would have though this would be blue smoke.... Any ideas? Thanks Stew

Had Emin round at the weekend, who did a brilliant job on my dash; during the day he also fitted a Walbro...however the car now idles at around 1200 rpm. This may seem like a really stupid question, but is reducing the idle simply an adjustment of the throttle stop screw? Secondly we noticed a leak coming from the Power Steering pump - seems to be coming from the top pipe connector, not the pipe iteslf - is there a gasket here - looks like there's a small plate (held with a bolt) where this connector then goes into the main body of the pump....or do I need a new one? If so where's the best place to get one and how much are they?? Cheers

OK so I have a Fault Code 13 - Camshaft or crankshaft position sensor....engine runs absolutely fine...two questions: 1) Any harm to the engine in running it around like this? 2) How do I find out a) Whether its Crank or cam b) How much they cost... If everything runs fine could this just be telling me to re-set the ECU?? Thanks Stew

L*** WOW Saturday 26th - Red on M3/Soton Airport junction at about 2pm **** XLL Sunday 27th - Yellow with seriously blacked out windows, Colden Common around 5ish, T reg This morning - Silver or Gunmetal (difficult to tell!) around 6:30 am M3 southbound - didn't get number plate, I was heading the other way. (It wasn't you the T5 was chasing was it?).

I've got my car booked in to have the knock sensor replaced...engine check light on inside etc....quick question though: With a standard ECU does the engine revert to "safe" mode when the light is on, and am I in danger of damaging anything if a run around like this ?? I know that in my old VTEC Honda when the light was on this is what happened, and I'm a bit concerned about hoofing it around and then finding out the engine was running lean or something. Apologies if this is covered in other threads - I've looked at a load on the Search facility but not found one that covers this so far.

Why would you want a standard one ??
