To clear this up.. and having read in between the lines, I'm not sure what you have been told and by whom but we'd put the onus back on the insurance underwriter withdrawing rates from said smaller competitor because they are undercutting their own given rates. Eg a long term customer insured with underwriter 'M' paying £750 a year for a different broker to offer a rate of £350, again with underwriter 'M'. 'M' is quickly going to notice and tell them to stop. Also, and as I've said before, often insurers will come along and undercut the rest of the market but pull out shortly afterwards when they realise they are too cheap, by too cheap I refer to not collecting enough premium to cover claims.

Please see the post above yours.

Hi, other than the current family fleet policy, no but we insure many customers with more than one vehicle. A lot of our customers insure their performance/modified car with us as well as their daily drivers but we we usually put these on separate policies. Thanks
-
Happy to answer this Scott, and I will but I do not see what relevance any of that has to a discussion about our family fleet policy and I'm still confused by this. Thanks, I don't take things like this personally but it is part of my job to answer and reply.. Ollie

I'd say that is beside the point, not meant in a rude way. Theft is obviously part of the risk but as mentioned, most of the risk is based on road risk. As discussed, this typical customer is less of a risk, for a few reasons. A multi million claim takes up a lot of people's premiums. A 17 year old can and will cause a lot more damage than their £1000 capped policy will cover. Thank you, appreciated.

Simply put, the insurer who offers this product to us is looking for the typical fleet of vehicles which appear in the first post. This could be one 'toy' vehicle and a daily run around/commercial vehicle or several or a combination of all. These 'toy' type of vehicles are usually very well cared for and owned by low risk profile customers with good secure locations and the cars cover very limited mileage. This product is not aimed at someone with a fleet of pretty mundane and low value cars. We certainly didn't mean too run anyone's nose in it , far from it in fact. I personally don't qualify for this policy despite currently owning 5 vehicles but I do not see it in any way frustrating that other people do qualify for it, I say, hats off to them. We have a varity of facilities for customers with more than one vehcile to insure, including mirrored NCB. Thanks Ollie

We do not mind so much, it helps us talk about the product and clear up some misconceptions. Let's put it down as 'educational'. We'll always get a bit of stick, we're in a hateful industry but any baiting etc is answered happily or water off a ducks back. It's inflammatory, confusing and unfollowed up on comments like this one below which aren't particularly helpful but we're well used to them:

Again, comparing one risk to another does not work but if it at all helps, this customer has a company car which is insured separately, the toys are all, well, toys. Thanks

Hi, on the contrary in our opinion. There are a fair few members on here who will find this product to be just what they are looking for, it also shows there are more strings to our bow than modified Supra insurance. I also don't mind a bit of discussion either . Often people look at the bare bones , eg "how dare they insure these expensive cars for such a cheap price when they quoted me similar on my one vehicle" without knowing the way things work or considering other factors. Cheers Ollie

You are very welcome to PM me your details and I can have a look at your quotation details and shed some light why we couldn't not place you onto our car club scheme. The £5k rate may not be representative of your risk and most likely is a 'screen rate'. You say the quote was not true, whilst that isn't the right wording as such, the £5k rate is a way of saying 'we cannot help you'. Vehicle value makes up part of the risk profile but you also have to consider the damage you can do in vehicle. Skylines are notoriously expensive to insure and without meaning to be rude, generally speak are driven backwards into lampposts, often. We look very very carefully at risks on all model Skylines. Comparing yourself against this family fleet policy does not work as both are completely different. Thanks
-
It's gone off the topic as we are talking about different risks. The price you mention is a price which means we have been unable to provide a quotation via our car club scheme, there could be a number of reasons for this but I'd need to look at the quotation details to offer an explanation. - - - Updated - - - Jazz, you, like any member is welcome to give us a try when you are up for renewal and we'll offer the best price and cover available to us. Tel: 03303 331250 Thanks

With respect, what has that got to do with the price of fish? Insurance is all about risk. Risk is more about you than the vehicle (s). Eg, if you are a young driver with your first RWD car doing 12,000 miles a year, that's a high risk. This particular example is fairly low risk (depsite the vehicle values), good ages, occupation, mileage allocation, excellent home security, good length of ownership and experience.
-
Yes indeed it does, it is one of the risk profile factors
-
The price is actually £2158, it would have been nearer the £2500 with the agreed valuation option, as mentioned. The main risk posed to insurer here is the road road risk aspect. With this family fleet policy preferring more cars than drivers, the insurer realises that the road risk applies to one vehicle at a time rather than all vehicles at once. The more vehicles, the more competitive this type of policy becomes.
-
How so guys? I'm confused by that statement.
-
That is not something we'd be able to share without the customer's consent I'm afraid but collections like this are not unusual. - - - Updated - - - The above is just one example of what we can do. The family fleet policy also covers motorcycles, commercial vehicles, classic cars, American cars, motorhomes and horse boxes. UK trackdays can be included, salvage retention is available etc It really is a fantastic product.

Hi, I thought I'd post up an example of a recent Sky Insurance family fleet policy to show you what we can do: Rough details. Cover for husband and wife, aged mid-thirties. Good postcode (Norfolk) Maximum No claim bonus All cars kept in off road parking, some garaged, some on driveway Vehicles: Porsche 911 Turbo (993) (£70k value) Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (£35k value) Honda NSX (and a very rare one at that) - (£70k Value) Audi RS4 Avant (£30k Value) Audi S8 4.2 (£10k Value) Audi A8 LWD TDI (£22k Value) VW Golf V6 4 Motion (wife - £5k Value). Comprehensive cover with a number of benefits. Annual premium for all cars £2158.00 (annual premium) The customer had agreed value options on three of the cars with total cost of £2458 (annual premium). It is a great product with extremely competitive pricing and brilliant level of cover. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements, our telephone number is below or you can PM us your contact details. As you would expect, we will need to run through your details over the phone, these are bespoke policies and require a human element. The entrance criteria is a little complex but one requirement is for at least one vehicle to hold a value of £15k or over. Thanks Ollie Sky Insurance Tel: 03303 331250 email [email protected]

Just picking up on some of the comments; George, I've dropped you a PM in hope we may still be able to help but it does sound like you've had a good rate there. With regards to comments on price, rates go up, rates go down, as a broker we offer the best rate available to us at the time. It's a fierce market and also a busy market place for insurers, in the past few years a fair few new insurers have become competitive for Supra insurance. We are still competitive on price, we still have a large volume of Mkiv's on our books, everything from standard NA's to very highly modified singles. Our discount for club members is still in place and whilst we can of course not guarantee you that we are going to be the best on price, we are certainly worth an enquiry whether you are a new or returning customer. The only issue I would like to pick up here is service, if there is a problem with our service I am keen to know about it so we can improve and nip any issues in the bud. Thanks Ollie Sky Insurance

I could be worse, it could be orange.

Hi all, Sky Insurance have been on board with MkivSupra.net for a number of years now, we insure Mkiv Supras in high volumes and we get involved in your club events and national shows. We are not able to help every member of the club, no insurance company can be competitive for everyone but we are going to be competitive for the majority of you. We have a large number of members and ex-members on our books with both Supras and non Supras. We have a variety of schemes to suit most members, our speciality is insurance for modified, performance and import car insurance. We'll cover most modifications on a like for like basis, the only modification we will not touch is NOS. We're here to help you if we can, you can even contact us via the forum's PM facility.
