  1. Is there anyone near high Wycombe with UK brakes that could try one of my wheels to see if they clear btw???
  2. My brakes need to be replaced as they are worn - how much are UK brakes? I can't afford a big disc n' 6pot conversion, but failing the UK brakes, would fast road pads, new discs, braided lines and 5.1 help the rather crap stopping power??? Cheers!
  3. Hi chaps- it was the key for the 'allen bolt' style nuts I was after. I went to MrT in Slough, who simply were not intrested in dealing with me, and said to try my luck elsewhere. While I was there I asked how much a full UK brake upgrade would be on the fronts only. The assistant looked to the sky and said £2800- he did pluck a number from his head, right? That's a lot of money for not a lot! I found the key in the boot btw.
  4. Am I right in thinking that the JDM cars use the same wheel nuts as the UK cars? And that Mr T will also sell a locking key for them? Cheers.
  5. Right, after sleeping on it, and looking at another Supra- I'm going for the leicestershire car (I have a commuter econobox for work/shopping/stuff). I've pre-ordered some 18 inch 5 spokes, nice and clean, not fussy, not bling, just the absolute pinnicle of boring (I'm fed up of nice stuff perishing). I can't remember the sizes, but it's something like 245/40/18 & 275/40/18. Time to crack open a bottle of brave pills!! Cheers for all the advice and help chaps!!! Gaz
  6. Just been looking at some wheel & tyre combos on-line. Going to go for 17 inch alloys, but what size section would i need for 235 fronts, and 255 rears? Edited because I'm getting myself arse about face!
  7. That's roughly how he explained it I think - god I hate imports at times.
  8. Yep, that's it. I've just spoken to the dealer again, the 3 previous (which i saw on the HPI form) 'owners' were 1, the original importer, 2, a lady owner who had it for 3 years, 8 months, then 3, the dealer. Inside it is like a new car, someone has really looked after the inside, or it's had a recent retrim. The other two I saw weren't even close in condition, but I'll put 17 inch alloys on, and at some point the UK brakes. My missus has absolutely fallen in love with it.
  9. It's a 1993 silver TT auto, it is totaly stock, except the dodgy wheels and a rather nice stereo. Beleive it or not it's the nicest of 3 that I've seen.
  10. How much would a 'basic' (nothing flashy) set of correct width 18's cost with tyres???
  11. It's had 3 UK keepers- well, I think one was a garage as it wasn't there very long. I thought it'd be 95k miles- not to worry too much, it SEEMED to be in good health (I couldn't belive how quiet it was). The tyres were 225/35/18 all round- should it have wider tyres at the back?
  12. Hi, my wife and I have just returned from Leicester after looking at a twin turbo auto: The odometer- the dealer said the car had 60k on the phone, but when we had a look it had 95,500 miles. He said that it had done so-and so in Km's then it was converted into miles, is this normal? Shall I just treat the car as if it's done 95,000 miles, not Km's??? The fan was always on- is that ok? The number plate was C10 JSH- did anybody here own it??? Cheers chaps
  13. Yep, just trying to find one, and get the MR2 px'd. Found a gorgeous Aerotop in Southampton, and for some reason i just assumed it was a turbo- it isn't though. Have found a rather nice TT up in Leicester, it's an Auto, leather, all the toys and then some, so going to look at that on Sunday- hopefully will have it all ready for the Pistonheads Vmax in March, as I don't want to run the MR2 again.
  14. Hi- I've read the FAQ's, and done a search, but couldn't find an answer to this: I do airfield trackdays (no hard stuff to hit), the runway we use is 1.7 miles long, how much difference would there be between two bone stock J-specs, one being auto, the other manual (I can hear you groaning from here- but most posts are about 1/4 miles, of which the general opinion nods the auto's), from 100-Vmax. Sorry for asking a faq (but I couldn't find it). ps, how much is it to get the front seats retrimmed in leather? Cheers
