It should keep it closed yeah. If its an HKS/HKS copy, it might be that the adaptor plate could be missing/not fitted If its a Tial type again the adaptro plate may be missing.

its under the dash, silver box with a green multiplug up near the top of the brake/clutch pedal (clearly on manual, near brake on auto)
