IIRC most how to's suggest to put a tight fitting bolt up inside and then put a jubilee clip over that. Alternatively a proper 'bung' would work

Why would anyone want to spend good money on a bad car? Just keep saving til you can afford a good one with no faults or issues thats not been to the moon and back -
