Strange one this, I've removed the starter of my car as I've started getting the dreaded 'click'. Fine, got it off OK, but upon inspection, there is what can only be described as little bits of rubber, mixed with slight trace of oil.
Some pics are attached of the starter & the bits I've scraped out so far.
Now AFAIK, there are no problems with the way ther car drives, obviously if it were to be the rear main seal, I presume oil would be flooding out.
Does anyone know if the flex plate has rubber on it, or does the starter have a seal thats come apart and has got chewed up in the gear?
On a plus note the copper contacts are goosed:)
