  10. well my steering rack wants replacing (UK TT 6), so anyone have a low mileage one in good order, I have been offered one but just looking for a back up just in case.. cheers Jon;)
  11. No m8, it's the actual end of the rack thats moving in the housing.. I pulled back the rack gaitor and you can see the teeth of the rack moving about, probably about 2mm of movement.. I may well take you up on your offer m8 though the rack you have..I will be in touch;) cheers Jon.
  12. Well looks like I've found the source of the odd vibration/loose feeling I get over rough roads occasionally (felt through the steering wheel)... On turning the steering a couple of inches either way (stationary with engine stopped) I can hear a knocking, got underneath with me missus rocking the steering and located the knock... It looks like either the rack, pinion is worn or the housing perhaps which the rack glides through on the drivers side only. Pulled the steering gaitor back, the ball joint and socket is perfect but the actual rack end is visibly sloppy and knocking... So is it possible (or is it really worth it) to get the rack reconditioned seeing as it is not leaking at all (yet!), or am I best sourcing a replacement, I guess there gonna be £600 ish from mr Toyota if not more:rolleyes: or has anyone got a low mileage one in good nick?? please help anyone cheers Jon;)
