Just had a thought . [sHOCK][/sHOCK] If I keep it as long as I"ve owned my Triumph Stag (bought it in April 1978) thats 29 years.!!!!! Shit ... 29 less 7 years already had supe ...thats 22 yrs to go .... I"ll be 79. yes 79. How will I get in & out. Think the Stags going to be the record holder on years of ownership. Any one here had a car that long I wonder?

Had mine 7 years next month and still get a thrill out of looking at/ driving/ owning it. Dont fancy anything else (excluding lottery win type change) other than a newer & faster one.

Got a slight leak via the bleed nipple thread & garage says I need a new caliper (its 2 pot). Toyota want about £240 to supply a new one. Any one know where I can get a better price or a good 2nd hand one? Do I need the whole caliper or just part? Have asked on Parts Wanted section but no response.

Nearside front for N/A. The thread for the bleed nipple is going & causing a leak Toyota want silly money for a new one my mechanic tells me so a good condition 2nd hand one (with OK bleed nipple) is needed. Any one got one of these? thanks, Glenn.

You should find it here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=72588&highlight=code+fix if that link doesnt work (not all that with computers) find it on the mk iv technical forum.use search button, type in code 42 fix click go for show threads and a long list will come up. its about the 3rd one down started by Dave on 21/06/06. I would say you should not do exactly as he says on the 1st page with the pink wire but look at the diagram on page 5 of the thread by Dr Doom on 26/11/06. The pink wire on the plug side should be taped off not the loom side ie as the diagram shows. To remove the top part of the dash undo the 5 screws and pull out of the 2 clips (1 at each end) then unclip the connecter plugs to the odo (left) & warning lights (right). Now cut/splice wires as shown. As a seperate issue, the soldering often fails on the warning light circuit & 2 of my oil lights werent working so I carefully soldered the the appropriate bits & got those working too. Best of luck Mate. Glenn.

I had this problem recently on my 94 non turbo auto. Gear changes 1 to 2 became non smooth at times & it all got worse over time incl the warning lights thing. Mine is not restricted or delimited or speed converted but it still happened. I did the well known code 42 fix (code 42 was showing) & everything solved .GREAT!. Its easy to do & involves bypassing some of the circuits of the odometer part of the dash(top left section) . There are/ is a usefull guide on here if you do a search for code 42 fix. just 2 little wires involved. The dry soldering breaks down interupting the speed sensor signal through the odo unit.

Cheers Mate. Surprised youve not seen me about. Had mine for nearly 8 years now. I live in Thorpe Bay. Hope to see you in a month or 2 on 2nd wednesday in the month.

I have had an intermitant problem for a while with auto box but have now cured it with the well known code 42 fix. Especially in changing from 1st to 2nd gear off a roundabout or sharp corner the change was erratic & just not right if you know what I mean. This got more frequent & happened from standing starts in traffic jams etc but was not consistant.Eventually code 42 warning lights symtoms started to occur over a period of months. Did the fix & gear box problems disappeared. GREAT! Mine is"nt derestricted or has a speed converter. Its the faulty soldering in the odo unit that creates a faulty buffered speed sensor signal to the ECU I believe. Hope this helps some of you guys. I was convinced there was a serious gear box problem for a while. Glenn.

Hi, Yeh that was me. You must of been the black supe that I saw parked when I came in to get Valentines thingies. You were gone when I came out. When the weather gets better & the nights are lighter I will be calling in at the "Cock Inn" on Wednesdays. Hope to see you there with the others. Glenn.

My Miami GT exh. was fitted by Turbofit about 6 weeks ago to my non turbo with 2nd decat. It replaced the stock one so I was used to very quiet. I asked them to put the baffle in but in their workshop it sounded quieter than I"d expected so I said "take it out" & the guys there agreed it should not have the baffle. Sounded great when it was test driven. I then drove off & discovered inside the car that the noise was too much & by the time I"d driven 100 miles home I thought I"d made a big mistake & was ready to sell/swap it. HOWEVER, the baffle made a huge difference inside (obviously quieter out as well) & I love it. For Non Turbos you"ll need the baffle unless your already deaf or love not hearing anything else. This may be true of many aftermarket exhausts I imagin. Glenn.

I"m a semi retired surveyor but have recently started some consultancy work for a firm just set up in the Rainham Steel building on the A13 about 1/2 mile from Tescos where I have popped in for some sandwiches at lunch time. Am going to Turbo Fit 2morrow to have my new Miami GT exzorst fitted. Big kid ;even at my age:Pling:

Got clear side repeaters now but left original bulbs in which glow white/yellow colour. Will need to change these for MOT I assume so can I get orange bulbs from Halfrauds or paint existing with something? if so what?
-
yeh, hiya Mark, that was me & I was at the bbq at East Beach. Was going to post on here but you beat me to it. By the way,,, dont fill up at Tescos like I did. Came to pay my £50 and discovered it was 87.9p a litre ord. unleaded. Been paying 83.9p at loads of places for a few weeks. I assumed Tescos would be the same without bothering to look 1st.

Yeh, he was a character indeed & probably his disability gave him that special I dont care attitude. He came from Hornchurch/Upminster in Essex & at one time drove around in a decent rolls or bentley with one of the doors sprayed a totally different colour so as to look like he"d got it from a breakers yard. Just to say "up yours".
