  1. The first steps in bringing the UK into line with those European countries who do not allow any engine modifications or swaps. It won't affect older cars... but eventually you won't be able to drive old cars anyway, except under tightly controlled circumstances, so it won't matter.

    5-speed gearbox

I would imagine that there are plenty of kit car / hot rod / custom car builders who would be interested.
  3. http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/decking
  4. Steering box failed, according to what looks like the original upload on YouTube.
  5. There are only three possible colours for car wheels - silver, black, or gunmetal. (Unless it's a black hotrod, then I'll let you have red steels. )
  6. DVLA Vehicle Enquiry confirms that it's a 1935 3571cc Alvis. And this says that it is indeed a Firebird http://www.vintage-racing.co.uk/cms/photogallery.php?method=show_photo&photo_id=4865&skipover=168
  7. Everyone who has any interest in vehicles powered by internal combustion should stand near a top fuel dragster launch at least once,.
  8. Goes without saying... they are twice the price.
  9. I've had Kumhos on my GS300 (basically a 4-door auto N/A Supra) for about 120,000 miles with no problems (not the same set ).
  10. Buy one of these (I believe 74mm x 14 flutes is correct for the standard Toyota filter, but check whatever filters you use). It makes changing the filter a piece of the proverbial (at least it does on the Soarer and Aristo). http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?cat=375&item=1090

  12. Just work on the basis of the information recorded in the "Vehicle Details" section of the registration document, and the information required in the "Changes to Current Vehicle" section.. You need to tell the DVLA if anything pertinent has changed (or if you have made such radical changes to the chassis that an IVA is required, but that's a different issue entirely). There is no entry for turbo or N/A and there is no entry for manual or auto, so just tell them about the engine number change and let them decide whether they need to check the engine's provenance, but be prepared to show that you acquired it legitimately.
  13. It's almost impossible to see a JZ engine number with the engine in the car. Soarers are the same.
  14. Yes. This a 10 second run when it didn't go bang. laUuRE7AH5U and GWfq47oNytw
  15. There was (is?) a 10-second Toyota Crown fitted with an FZ in Australia. They tested it to destruction and it finally went bang (conrod) at around 900 bhp. God knows why Toyota designed a lorry engine that would take that much power. I guess they just couldn't help themselves. http://www.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67218679 http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7334/wsid060521compak181b4ad.jpg http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/2295/staging0kl.jpg 6QS7MrBYrqE
  16. If it's good enough for Rolls Royce...
  17. Probably from late '70s racing sidecars, which, until the rules changed to outlaw them, were basically asymmetric 3-wheeled racing cars. http://www.lcr-sidecar.com/0492fb99e60caba0a/0492fb99fb0c44312/index.html
  18. I think I've seen Carbotech and Porterfield pads mentioned on Club Lexus.
  19. N/A 16s are 8 all round, TT 16s are 8/9.
  20. I believe the Celica calipers are a different shape, although they take the same pads.
  21. They are "UK" calipers. You could try http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/contents/en-uk/d2.html http://www.brakesint.co.uk/ http://www.biggred.co.uk/ or buy a seal kit and do it yourself, or ask the traders on here. Oh, and... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?244505-Stainless-pistons-for-UK-calipers-in-stock-NOW.-Stainless-UK-retaining-pins-as-well.
  22. To be sure... Place the wheel face down on a flat surface. Put a straightedge across the top. Measure the distance from the straightedge to the flat surface in mm. Measure the distance from the straightedge to the mounting face in mm. If he can't manage that, then there is no hope.
