  1. Good job Phil! I'll be very interested in the braking performance once you’ve fitted them. Perhaps you could report back and let us know Mike
  2. Well, had a chat with Chris… …and ordered a 1st cat replacement pipe. It seems it *might* be OK. It’s really a case of trying it. If there’s too much boost then he will supply a restrictor plate (calculated on the degree of overboost) to limit it. He also suggested I might want to think about water injection to lower charge temps. 1.3 bar should be OK with water injection Let you know how it goes
  3. Thanks guys, Graham, that does seem to be pretty common result, although some people appear to get away with manageable boost. Does it vary from car to car or something? From the Blitz site; The boost pressure can only be raised a small amount before the limit starts to activate. To remove the boost limit, an upgraded ECU needs to be fitted (see Access computer upgrades). This will usually allow a 30-50% increase in boost pressure with corrected fuelling for the increased boost. Increasing the boost without increasing the fuelling will cause the engine to run lean, which can be fatal for the engine The Boost limits are raised, the speed limits are removed, the rev-limiters are raised, the timing maps optimised, and the fuelling maps are adjusted to cope with higher boost I guess my best bet is to give CW a call and see what he recons… If the restrictor limits boost to say, 1.2bar I might as well just fit it. I doubt that I will ever want more than that anyway.. Cheers Mike
  4. ...and some advice needed. I have a ‘95 J spec. The only mods I know about are a Blitz Access ECU (already fitted when I got it) and a HKS 3” front pipe / HKS Super Drager cat-back which TDI put on for me. I’ve just fitted a boost gauge, in the clock position, and taken it for a run. .8bar is the most I have seen. Sounds about right, I guess. The question is; Should I fit a CW 1st cat replacement pipe without the restrictor. I am assuming the Blitz ECU can up the fuelling to compensate for the higher boost. Does this sound reasonable ? Mike
  5. Hi to all, First post... My emissions for MOT were; Fast Idle Test: CO 0.64 % Vol Fail HC 51 ppm Pass Lambda 1.010 Second Fast Idle Test: CO 0.19% Pass HC 8 ppm Pass Lambda 1.001 Natural Idle test; CO 0.33 Pass That’s with Blitz ECU, Downpipe and HKS Super Dragger on an Import TTGZ. At least that’s all I know about… Hope this is some help, Cheers Mike
