Thanks guys,
Graham, that does seem to be pretty common result, although some people appear to get away with manageable boost. Does it vary from car to car or something?
From the Blitz site;
The boost pressure can only be raised a small amount before the limit starts to activate. To remove the boost limit, an upgraded ECU needs to be fitted (see Access computer upgrades). This will usually allow a 30-50% increase in boost pressure with corrected fuelling for the increased boost. Increasing the boost without increasing the fuelling will cause the engine to run lean, which can be fatal for the engine
The Boost limits are raised, the speed limits are removed, the rev-limiters are raised, the timing maps optimised, and the fuelling maps are adjusted to cope with higher boost
I guess my best bet is to give CW a call and see what he recons…
If the restrictor limits boost to say, 1.2bar I might as well just fit it. I doubt that I will ever want more than that anyway..
Cheers
Mike
