  1. You will need a FCD to override the ECU set fuel cut which occurs at around 1 bar. If you remove both cats then a restrictor ring will be needed! You can get one from Chris Wilson. Race and performance road car servicing and preparation in north Shropshire. Home / Work : 01948-841581 Mobile: 07971-952084 Please use direct e-mail, rather than PM's, thanks! [email protected] iam sure he would send you one Not an expensive job at all. You wont need a boost controller if the cats are out. You should see 1.1-1.2 bar depending on the size of the restrictor ring. Dont take your boost above 1.2 max. Your turbos life span will reduce with increase boost! Change your plugs to a colder set. NGK do some cheap ones. Use a higher octane fuel.
  2. If it’s a J-spec and you remove both cats and fit a performance exhaust the boost levels will rise to about 1.1-1.2 or more. This is because the j-spec cars use the cats to restrict boosts. The wastegate alone is not big enough to keep boost within safe limits. You will not need a boost controller but a restrictor ring in the exhaust to restrict the boost levels. alternatively you could just remove one cat?
  3. Right- Car in toyota at mo. They think it might be an overfuelling issue. From the above problems do you guys think this could be my problem. Could a dodgy 0xygen sensor cause an over feulling issue. Another problem that recenty occured is that it doen't start. Toyota say this was due to the engine flooding?
  4. CHEERS 'STT' for the offer I am in London, a bit far- thanks anyway Ill check the ground connections tomorrow. Anyone know where the speed sensor is? Just find it odd that the funny electrical behaviour stops when the TPS is unplugged although it stills stalls. Is an ECU a straight unplug plug swap? Cheers
  5. Hi guys still no luck- Checked out the TPS (replaced) still no joy! Took it to a garage today guy thinks its the ECU and wants to replace it at a cost of £500-600 (shit)- Not convinced my self- His argument for replacing the ECU is that the rev counter occasionally shoots up to rev 4 with out engine spinning up. So 'it ECU related' - This is really making my hair go grey, as it’s a pain not having a car over XMAS. The symptoms Stalling/hesitation on throttle accompanied by a click (electrical) Car cold--revs rise up and down- up and down continuously when fired up Auto gearbox has become cluck through gear changes. rev counter occasionally shoots up to rev 4 with out engine spinning up It’s not the TPS as I have replaced that. Cant get to the ISCV/ ICV as a screw is right down by the engine! I have it booked in at TOYOTA for Thursday- Ill have to pay £78 p/h for someone who really doesn’t know what they are looking for. The Rev counter thing is really worrying me as it flutters around without the engine spinning- What could cause this? The strange thing is that things calm down when the TPS is unplugged hence the replacement part. Is the next likely cause the ISCV? Help if you can Thanks guys-
  6. I use to have a VR6 Golf- I found it to be very unreliable- Nice dirve tough!
  7. UPDATE! Start car with TPS installed- Car goes mad. (Revs ups Revs down) While it’s going mad if I disconnect the sensor- the car literally calms down. At this point the car feel ok. It has a slightly higher idle though. It has stalled a few times while I 've revved it. However the car is behaving its self while disconnected from the TPS. So would this be the most likely cause of my problems p.s sorry about all the demand for advise but iam sure you folks understand the frustration when cars go wrong. ANYONE GOT A TPS ???
  8. I think this is the point where it becomes a little to technical. OOnOOOOO! I can hear toyota calling me. I bet its something really easy to fix and toyota charge me a bomb for doing it. ill give the volt metre a go I think. I 've got the volt readings on a supra disk- thanks for offering to dig them out! Of course any other advise still would be great!
  9. Sorry mate not sure what the ISCV is? + where Cheers
  10. Yep is a UK no delimiter or any conversions. ECU not been touched. So am I right in thinking that the 1st thing I should do is replace the TPS ( £117 from toyota) Is there anyway to check if its def the TPS without buying a new one. Skint - christmas here etc. It would really help if the location of the sensors to check are pointed out as I have no clue about the electrical side of things. 2nd thing to check is speed sensor? not sure where that is? thanks guys
  11. can someone point out the TPS please Thanks
  12. Hi- ill check the TPS- another thing that happened this morning was when I started it the car idled OK- however the rev counter (not the engine speed) when crazy up and down up and down anyore ideas appriciated. Iam not very good at testing sensors so any detail help would be great!! Anyone got a TPS kicking about that I could have for a small few
  13. Hi guys another problem has occurred Stuck in traffic 1hr car starts acting really weird. 1st engine stalled on acceleration I then restart the car The rev rise quite high (rev 4) then it goes back down It can’t settle on an idle. it just travels from 1.5revs to 4rev- up and down continuously. Some times it settles (seconds or so) then all happens again. Red triangle came on once but has been off ever since. AA had to tow me home, as it was un-driveable AA recon it’s a throttle sensor ANY IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED P.S I’ve reset the ECU no luck. NOW CARS COOLED DOWN-IT DEVELOPED A NEW SYPTOM. When I start the car the revs rise to 3 000-4000 rpm then as the revs begin to fall the rev counter goes nuts up and down up and down then a flick of the engine managment light- then back to normal idle. WEAIRD!!!
  14. If you remove the power steering reservoir it makes it so much easier to reach
  15. Just wondering what controls boost on a stock car. Is it a spring set at 0.8bar in the wastgate or is it electronically controlled by the ECU?
