  1. Ah, well that's easy then... I'll try and avoid driving the car!
  2. Oh well. Maybe I was just unlucky. A few minutes after I posted, my boiler bizarrely came back to life, so I hung up and I'll try again if/when it packs in again.
  3. My boiler appears to have stopped working this afternoon. I've got gas boiler insurance through Homeserve. I called their 24hr emergency line 90 mins ago... and I'm still waiting to get through!
  4. Yeah, I have been having trouble getting into the Supra the last few mornings. I pour warm water over the windows and door so that it's not frozen shut when I leave in the morning. The bigger problem is that the cold seems to have damaged my remote central locking, since the button will no longer unlock (or lock) the car, so I have to resort to using the key. But the lock keeps freezing, so I can't get the key in or turn it! Yesterday, when I went to work, the car did unlock with the remote, but when I arrived at work, it wouldn't lock it, and I had to leave it unlocked for two hours until the keyhole had thawed enough for me to get the key in and lock it manually.
  5. I looked out the window this morning to see this. Out of interest, I've seen people on here saying you should sheet up your Supra in this weather if you haven't got a garage. Does the cold weather really do that much damage to the paint work?
  6. Well, I've heard it before a long time ago, but I had actually forgotten the punchline, and this is a great joke!
  7. I don't get it? The title to this thread appears to be relevent and roughly explains what it's about...
  8. I remember racing a Ferrari F430 on a dual carriageway and we were neck and neck all the way. If I'd remembered to turn the boost controller up, I'd have really smoked him. So, I was well-chuffed knowing my car was faster, and the fella in the Ferrari didn't look too pleased at all. But, at the end of the day, if he had offered a swap, would I keep the Supra? Of course I bloody wouldn't!
  9. Just registering my interest, as I can't wait to see this shed of a Supra. Speaking of which, if you look in the Barry forum, it's probably there somewhere...
  10. I was 1.25 in one eye (left) and 0.75 in the other. The 0.75 was too low to treat, but the 1.25 was treated, and I'm told the astigmatism is now gone.
  11. Right, the one-week results are in. I saw the surgeon today, and it turns out I'm now 20/20 (in the eye that was treated). Hurrah! BUT, I'm now slightly long-sighted, with a +0.75 prescription, which apparently often happens when treating astigmatism. As a result, my eye is currently struggling to focus on stuff close up, which probably explains the VDU issues. That said, the surgeon said there was a good chance my vision will settle somewhat, and that the long-sightedness will improve over the next few weeks. Apparently, the settling time for astigmatism treatments tend to be a lot longer than other prescriptions. So, it's back to work tomorrow. Darnit. I was enjoying lounging around doing nothing.
  12. I've only just spotted that Tooquicktoostop is putting his Vette on the rollers. I love Vettes... This I have to see!
  13. Well spotted! The irony didn't escape me while I was reading it prior to the surgery...
  14. Well, I've had it done. The consent form small print and the final 30 minute consultation was horrendously scary. They tell you about all the sh1t stuff that can happen that you hadn't read about anywhere else... like the 1 in 2000 chance that your cornea could collapse, leaving you needing a corneal transplant. I was such a wuss that by the time I went into the operating theatre, my teeth were chattering 'cause I was so scared! The procedure was uncomfortable, but not painful. I was in quite a lot of pain that evening and the following day. By the second day afterwards, it was just discomfort. Unfortunately, my eyesight is not quite as good right now as I'd hoped it would be. Today I was back to work, and really struggling to read what was on the screen. (I'm a developer and spend my life looking at the screen.) I'm hoping it will improve over the next few days, because if it doesn't get any better than today, I'll be needing glasses and that would be a huge bummer.
  15. I run a single Supra, and an Scoobie WRX. The Supra is currently costing me around £800 a year, and the Scoobie is about £700. Frankly, running them both is horrendous and I keep thinking I should jack one in for a sensible car. But the Mrs loves the Scoobie so I wouldn't make her part with. And parting with the Supra would be pure madness!
  16. Glad it worked out in the end. That video on the first page was horrendous. I'm not sure I ever want to see anything like that again...
  17. 31. I'm quite excited about the whole thing. Not quite as stressed as I thought I'd be. BTW, for those worrying about going blind, I'm told this can only happen if you can an infection. Apparently, about 1 in 10000 get an infection, and this is usually due to poor aftercare and/or not following proper advice for recovery. Obviously, not all of these go blind...
  18. I think the Incognito Mode of Chrome should not be underestimated.
