Second one was a bit poo though, don't you think? Do you remember that scene where he's racing against a stack of other supercars, but he's driving in reverse and manages to stay ahead?!!! That's some gearbox. Maybe I should drive everywhere in reverse from now on... It would save me having to do any gear changes. (Ehem... in my auto.)

... Is on tonight on ITV2. I'm sure you've all seen it before, but for those that haven't... The car that kicks ass in this movie is a Supra!! (Obviously I get excited far too easily.)

If KwikFit lost it, then perhaps you should ask them to reimburse you the cost of a set of locking nuts!
-
Definitely. When I bought my Supe, the guy couldn't find the locking nut key. I completely forgot until my rear pads completely wore out and started scraping the discs. Fortunately I was passing KwikFit at the time so I pulled in. Then I remembered... No locking nut key. D'oh!! But KwikFit removed them pretty quickly. One nut was a problem, but the rest came off without too much trouble... And they were pretty good locking nuts too! The guy in KwikFit told me they have to do it all the time and it's pretty routine. Of course, the nuts were a little messed up in the process so I had to buy a new set. P.S. They did it exactly as described by UKSupra earlier in this thread.

Nope, was Tuesday.

Sorry dude. Definitely not you... This one looked a lot more stock than yours, judging by your avatar.

Saw you in Wokingham today. It was me you flashed. I don't think I've seen many Supes (if any) in blue before.

If it's consuming oil that rapidly, I'd take it back to where you got it and get them to sort it out. Afterall, it's under warranty...
-
Mine was well overfilled by the previous owner. For the first month I owned it, it was spewing oil out of the BOV and the oil was collecting in a little river under the induction cone! I was worried about where the oil was coming from and my local garage told me it was a seal on #2 turbo. But now the oil level is right on the max on the dip stick, and no more oil is being ejected. So I think there was nothing wrong with the turbo afterall! I wish I'd taken other people's advice and drained some oil right from the start!!

Cheers Michael. Yes, I read that thread about the crank sensor. And, as for the fuel pump... even though I really know very little about motors, I somehow instinctively feel this is what the problem is. (I'm using the Force.) It's the fuel pump that makes a humming noise when you turn the key, right? Thanks for the info Stevie. I did have it serviced recently, but I don't know if it was "decent". HKS Induction, HKS SSBOV, Spats strut bar, bleeder valve, Neuspec low-restriction pipe (single decat), superchipped, turbo timer, boost gauge. I'm told it dyno'd at 420bhp, but I have no evidence to support this. If you want to see it, check out this page. I might try and chat to a few local Reading boys and see where they take their Supes to (like Gav).

Thanks for all your thoughts guys. By catching, I mean when the car starts, at which time you can let go of the key. As to the second question: yes, I think. I think I do need some diagnosis. Actually, I haven't had the car long and it would give me some peace of mind to have it looked at by someone who actually knows Supras. I did take the car to my regular garage (where I used to take my old car). They're very helpful and extremely cheap with any work I have done, but I'm not confident in their ability to work with this motor. It's been modded a bit and I know they don't really understand what's going on under the hood. Can you guys recommend somewhere closeby I could take the car to have it checked out? I live in Reading.

For a few short seconds I thought I was in the minority in actually driving my Supra!!! But I do know what you mean. If I do get any joy, I'll let you know. Unfortunately, I'm a bit short on cash at the mo' so I probably won't be having any real work done in the immediate future... but I'll certainly investigate. It's a shame to have such fantastic wheels and then watch them go down the crapper.

Nice one. Thanks for the tip.

Howdy all Over the last few days, my Supe seems to be having trouble starting. Up until a few days ago, it always started first time and would always catch almost immediately. But just lately, two things seem to be happening... 1) I turn the key and it turns over once or twice and then seems to die. The power is still on but the car won't turn over. If I turn the key all the way off and then on again, the process repeats. I have to do this a few times until it catches. 2) It's having trouble catching. Sometimes it starts but then dies a few seconds later... like it's not quite getting enough juice or something. Could these be related since they both seem to have started at the same time? I didn't think it was battery since I'm not getting the 'ticking' thing.

Does anyone know where I can get chrome rims refurbished? I've got a set of TrafficStar DTS Chrome rims (the same as Richard Hammond has on his Dodge!) that came with the car when I purchased it. Unfortunately, the previous owner decided to clean a wheel up with 'Wonder Wheels', an acidic product which removed much of the chrome! And the wheels are curbed too! I've emailed a few alloy-restorers, but no one seems interested in rechroming.

Don't think it was you mate. I'm pretty sure this one came on at the M4 junction, whereas you would have joined earlier? Plus, he followed me round the 'bout and waved so you definitely would have remembered!!
-
You followed me this morning, on the roundabout by the southern industrial area. I think you joined the 329 from the M4??

Spotted you in Loddon Valley Leisure Centre car park, this evening (Friday). I arrived at about 8pm to go swimming... Phoned the leisure centre about 3 hours before to check the times and they told me lane swimming for adults started at 8. But as soon as I got in the pool, the feckers kicked me out for aqua-aerobics!! So I left pretty quick and you wouldn't have seen me.
-
Sorry Gav Reckon it must have been you and I've got a bad memory for colours!! I recall you mentioning the meet... which I didn't make it to. I did make it to the last one at Madejski... finally! Lots of, erm, loud motors.
-
Hey Peter, did I once meet you in John Kleis? When I first bought my Supe, the speakers needed replacing so this was one of my first purchases. While I was in there, I met the owner of a black Supra who gave me the details of this forum. This would be about 2 or 3 months ago.

Thanks, that's all great advice! I would like to fit RLTC (as I've already read about the perils of the crappy stock Toyota slip control), but I'm short of cash at the moment and have some higher priorities. I find the biggest problem with the auto is that sometimes it kicks down when you don't want it to, and sometimes it doesn't kick down when you do. So occasionally #2 comes online unexpectedly and all hell breaks loose! That's interesting what you said about the cold surfaces. I've heard it said before but didn't believe it could be so significant. However, now you've said so (and through some experience of the slippery back end) I'm inclined to consider the cold more. Thanks again. See you around Peter!

P.S. I seem to suffer from SSS as well. Even on the straight, in the dry! Very annoying... Do all BPU Supes do that or is there something wrong with mine!?
-
Sorry for the delay. Haven't checked this site in a while. Took my Missus to see Phantom at the Showcase. Cool... This is the first sighting of my Supe, AFAIK. (I've had it a couple of months now.)
-
FYI, a friend of mine reckons that for the dial to behaving this way, it must have been rigged to the dump valve hose instead of where it should be.
-
Thanks for that.
