  1. Yes mate, after 500 miles. Unfortunately, I only work 3 miles from work and I'm on call at the moment, so I can't go far.
  2. Wow, I can tell the difference, even though I'm not putting my foot down. Even up to 3000 rpm with no boost, it feels much quicker than it used to. Before I had the work done, I used to find the 3L engine seemed a bit sluggish without boost. But now, it seems to pick up much quicker and seems to have a lot more torque. I could be talking out my bottom, but that's how it feels! And the turbo sounds totally different. The BOV doesn't sound louder, but the whoosh now lasts much longer. It's very cool.
  3. Stealthosts, I had the rebuild work done because Paul told me it needed doing. I questioned on this board whether there was any alternative course of action, which sparked up some debate. However, once I posted up the pictures of the state of the engine, most people seemed to agree that it was a complete mess and needed a lot of work. There are two reasons I didn't take it elsewhere for a second opinion: 1) It was already in pieces by this time 2) I didn't want to cause any offense to Paul, who'd already spent some time on the car. Paul did say, however, that he would be quite happy for me to get a second opinion. But at this point I just wanted the car back and didn't want to introduce any further delays.
  4. Any room for a former karate instructor on this thread?
  5. In case anyone wondered how this turned out, you can find out in this thread.
  6. Yeah, the poor guy has had more than his fair share of sh1t here lately. I hope this helps to restore the guy's reputation. And it's great to finally have some bling to show off, and to be a member of the BPU club!!
  7. As some of you may know, my Supra has been with Paul at MaxGT for the last 6 weeks. It's had some serious work done... Hybrid turbo conversion New FMIC New pipes for FMIC FSE FCD Decat Engine head rebuild Engine bay polishing Engine bay spraying (midnight purple) Dash spraying (silver) Various other small bits and pieces I picked my car up yesterday and it's running fine. The only bummer is that I have to run-in for 500 miles, which means no putting my foot down. Paul from MaxGT has put heart and soul into this project and has even called today to check I'm happy. So thanks, Paul, for doing a great job. I'll attach some pictures here, but if you want to see more details, have a look at http://www.max-gt.com/dash.php.
  8. I heard he needs a 'running double'... I.e. a sort of stunt double who they use when he's supposed to be running. Because he runs like a girl.
  9. Sorry mate. That's practically giving them away. I won't go under 800, which I believe to be a very reasonable price!
  10. lloydmcc, I live in the Berkshire area, but the wheels are currently in Weston-super-Mare, a few miles south of Bristol Peter, thanks very much for your kind offer. I may well take you up on it, although I'm not sure when I'll next be heading down to Weston. I'm currently carless, but expecting to have my car back soon. (Well, not technically carless, but my missus wont be happy if I put too many extra miles on the Rover!!)
  11. Wow, they're all, erm... very green. I'm halfway through the game now. Here's my fleet...
  12. "Supra. The only way to get there quicker is by Exocet."
  13. I've been asked if these will fit over UK brakes. I don't know for sure. Without actually putting these on a UK car, is there anyway I can determine if these will fit by doing some measurements? I've tried searching the forum, but hit too many irrelevent threads.
  14. Only £800!!! Come on guys... these were £3.5K wheels. The three good tyres alone have gotta be worth nearly 400 quid.
  15. The guy who was supposed to be coming around tonight was a no-show. So these are still up for grabs for 800.
  16. Happy birthday Doug. Way to go keeping it stock, mate!
  17. This game is awesome. I've still got a long way to go as I'm only at 10 in the blacklist. There's a few things that make this game MUCH better than NFSU2. Firstly... The Supra!! The Supra in NFSU2 was completely undriveable and oversteered WAY too much... even for a Supra. The driving model in MW seems much more accurate. It's almost like driving one for real! Secondly... The AI. NFSU2 really annoyed me. If you got more than a few seconds away from the other cars, some sort of obstruction would suddenly appear in front of you and knock you for 6, giving the other cars an opportunity to catch up and go past. Really annoying. This doesn't happen in MW and you can just keep pulling away from the group. Third... The graphics. This game is so great to look at. In conclusion: definitely the best NFS game yet and not just another NFSU rehash.
  18. This is the funniest joke I've seen in ages.
  19. Hello everyone. As some of you may or may not know, I run a small IT forum in my spare time and it needs just a tiny bit of TLC... The forum is mainly focussed on helping people with their computer problems, dealing with areas like hardware problems, software, networking, coding and scripting, IT security, etc, etc. There's a tutorial section, and even an academic area that's aimed at people taking academic qualifications, such as A+ or MCSE. There's also a Linux area, but I don't have many experience Linux members, so this is quiet. The forum caters for various IT levels. For example, it goes all the way from people asking why their icons are so big (!!), to 'what type of memory do I need', through to 'explain Karnaugh maps' or 'explain look-ahead carry logic'. It's not just IT... There are off topic areas to, such as movies, books, TV, and (of course) cars. The problem is this: since Christmas, it's gone completely dead. There's nobody using it, which I'm gutted about. I've put in quite a lot of effort over the past couple of years keeping it alive, but it's recently taken a dive. So, I'm wondering if you might be able to help me. Since there seems to be something of a correlation between IT people and Supra owners, I was hoping that some of you might find a dedicated IT forum useful. Or perhaps you know people that would benefit from it? Or, maybe you're a bit of an IT guru and think you could help by offering advice? We need a few more members like that too! So, apologies for the blatant plug of my forum. I hope I'm not breaking any rules here. But I could really do with a bit of life and I know you lot, being the great bunch you are, can give me a helping hand!! The forum is at http://www.just2good.co.uk/forum. (Most of the rest of http://www.just2good.co.uk is just an IT reference... CPUs, mobos, networking, that sort of stuff.) Thanks!!
  20. TBH, can't remember if the worn one is front or back. The wheels are at my mum's place near Bristol at the moment. I've got a guy coming to view on Friday who's offering 800. This is less than I wanted, but I need to pay my engine bills!!
  21. Picky, picky! I like the free lunch analogy! I mean, it doesn't really cost anything extra does it? Well... Apart from the cost of the turbo... And the cost of the extra fuel to go with all that extra air... And the cost of the intercooler... And the extra cost of fixing it when it all goes wrong!! Erm, apart from that... Free lunch.
  22. I once heard a turbo described as "the closest thing to a free lunch in engineering". I like that.
  23. I have had some interest and have reduced the asking price to £850. Ask anyone who's seen them... They truly are a bargain at this price. I don't want to sell my summer wheels, but a large amount of engine work has forced my hand.
