  1. Grrrr. Car was fine this afternoon. Thanks again Homer. And look... I have connectivity! God knows how long it will last.
  2. I believe I am. Did I mention that my house bunny died last week? And, the house at the end of the street, for some reason, didn't have gas central heating. So the owner phoned up the gas board last week, and they came to connect her up. Turns out they needed to connect to the pipes under my driveway, so they dug up the whole drive... Without contacting me about it first! (Fortunately, they put it back again, but I was without parking for a week.) This year, so far, has been completely crap.
  3. Thanks to Homer, I now know that my fuel pressure was set to 66psi, so it's no wonder it was leaking out of every corner!! After adjusting it back down to 36psi, we started her up and it was extremely lumpy. Homer suggested that the ECU might need a reset, so we disconnected the battery for a minute and then tried again... And it was so smooth!! I'm well chuffed. Give that man a cigarre! One slightly worrying turn of events... When I started the car again half an hour later, it was once again very lumpy and when I gave it some gas, it didn't want to play ball at all and started lurching a bit. But after a couple of minutes, it sorted itself out again. I'm hoping it will behave when I start her up after work again later. I'll hope to update the thread, but my Internet connection at home appears to have died and I'm not sure how permanent it is! Fecking NTL.
  4. No, been concentrating on the leak! That's next on my list!! Any ideas?
  5. My first guess is that it's the pressure. It was pouring out of one end and now that's sorted, it's started leaking out the other... Although that took a day or so to develop. I'll have a look at the fuel pressure tomorrow (thanks Homer) and hopefully that will be the end of it.
  6. AAAAARGH!! It stinks again! Checked the FSE and there's no fuel leak. Now it's coming out the other end, at the fuel rail!! I'm so p1ssed off now.
  7. This worries me. I'm currently getting appalling mileage, but then again, it was p1ssing fuel out the FSE!! Is there anyway to tell if the FSE is set up correctly? It seems to idle okay.
  8. How about GAIM, another open-source messenger.
  9. Have a go with http://webmessenger.msn.com. It works over HTTP, so may not be blocked by your firewall.
  10. Yeah, you guys are great. I really appreciate everyone's advice and the offers of the FPRs. Anyway, it's all sorted now. I took it to a local garage who said the crimp ring thingie was too large for the hose and was causing the hose to get pulled on one side. That's what was allowing the fuel through. They cut the hose and reattached with a new clip and now it seems to be okay! I'll be keeping my eye on it though. I'm relieved that it's not the FSE at fault (although it would have been in warranty anyway). So, thanks again everyone!
  11. That's good advice. Problem is, I don't really want to drive it far with it pouring fuel everywhere! Do you know anyone in the Bracknell area that would have the skills to take a peek?
  12. Because I can't get hold of him. I took it back twice because of the fuel smell. The first time he told me it was because it was decatted. The second time I took it back he said he'd resolved it. The third time I complained he said he'd come out and fix it, but then didn't show at the agreed time. Then he didn't answer the phone or respond to emails. And now he's gone on holiday. I don't have it. If I did, I wouldn't know what to do with it. How much is an aeromotive FPR? I've spent all my money.
  13. I've tightened it up, but the fuel is still quite literally pouring from the FSE. Grrr. And now, I can hear a rapid tapping noise coming from the engine block. WTF?
  14. Without a clap? A question I forgot to ask: is it possible to overtighten these? I worried that if I tighten too much, I might damage either the hose or the stalk on the FSE. Or should I just tighten as much as I can?
  15. Thank you Paul E!! (You know what you did.) I think the problem is that the hose isn't flush up against the side of the FSE. There's quite a bit of the stalk showing, so I'm going to have a go at putting it on properly now...
  16. It's definitely coming from the FSE. There is a leak where the hose joins the left hand side of the FSE. It was dripping pretty quick! I've tightened the clamp as far as it will go, but drops are still forming along the stalk. Not sure what to do about it.
  17. Yes, fuel pump was changed too, even though I didn't ask for one and I had a perfectly good 5 month-old Walbro in there... But let's not get into that!!
  18. Hi all Having recently gone BPU, I now have the problem of an extremely strong smell of fuel in the cabin. I'm pretty sure it's blowing in from the engine bay through the air heating/cooling system. It's not bad when the car starts, but seems to be really strong after 3 or four minutes, especially if I've been cruising and then come to rest or roll slowly. It stinks bad on the outside too. Someone suggested that this is because I no longer have cats, but I can't believe that. I've read a couple of people had similar problems with a leaking FSE. I've just had an FSE installed, but I wouldn't know what to do with it!!

Same here! Would like to replace mine, but I'm all spent out. I noticed someone selling a F&F spoiler here, in case you are interested.
  20. Oh dear, we don't want that! (Erm, what does that mean?)
  21. Stock mate. I don't plan on going BPU+. I had always planned to go BPU with hybrids right from the start (a little over a year back), and now I'm well chuffed that I finally have. But this car *is* my daily driver and I want it continue to behave like a road car most of the time. To Chiefgroover: I apologise for any distress I may have caused you with me overly optimistic guessing. That's just how fast it seemed to me. Innane discussions about 80-120 times was not the point of my post. I merely wanted to express how happy I was with the car. I have no objections to people pointing out any mistakes or overly zealous exaggeration that I may make. But at least be polite about. I'm an easy-going guy, but I've got no time for people who introduce themselves with verbal abuse.
  22. Cheers Paul. Actually, I was at 80 when I put my foot down. Maybe it actually took 4 seconds!!!
  23. Well, I did ask if it seemed realistic, since it seemed fast to me. Obviously, in all the excitement of having a much faster car, I guess my timing may have been a bit off. I blame it on a lack of accurate timing equipment. Of course, while I'm all excited about the changes to my P&J, these discussions are totally inconsequential while in your godlike presence. I'll now go and hide my head in shame and contemplate the err of my ways... There's always one.
  24. I might be getting confused, but I thought that boost is just boost... And there's no more power coming from hybrids at 1.2 bar than there would be out of stock JSpec turbos running at 1.2 bar (all other things being equal). I'm under the impression that I've switched to hybrids in order to run higher boost without risking of them failing anytime soon. ???
