  1. I dont have the money or the free space to run different sets of tyres for summer and winter. So I really need a good all round set. I'm about to buy new wheels, so I guess now is a good time to make the right decision. I was going to go with Eagle F1s again, but I'm happy to be advised otherwise! But now I feel bad for hijacking Homer's thread and turning it into a discussion about tyres.
  2. Eagle F1s at the moment. From past experience, I think the Eagles are very good, so I don't think I'll be changing them. I think the cold weather and the rain are probably my biggest problems at the moment. My old BPU had trouble gripping in this weather, so I've got no hope in the black beast! Yes, we did have a conversation about it and it was a great car. But having had a silver car previously, I thought gunmetal was just a little too similar. I really wanted a black one...
  3. Dammit. I have a Mexican strat, and it wasn't cheap!! (Wish I'd known more about guitars when I bought it.)
  4. Well, I have been thinking about it, but RLTC and new wheels probably come first. I don't think I can afford the brakes as well! Oh, and raising the bugger off the ground. Darryl, I have no idea how you managed to drive it anywhere. I've got three car parks near where I work, and this Supra doesn't go around any of them without hitting the nosecone or the exhaust!
  5. I guess those prices can't be too far off the mark. But it seems a shame to sell your custom built guitars for so little, when you've clearly done such a nice job with them. Maybe someone will pay you more for your artistic flair!
  6. P.S. You can do worse than own a car that has been previously owned by not one, but two legends! That means I've got big shoes to fill.
  7. Well, I think when you're buying a car as heavily modified as this one, you need to know it's been done by someone who a) knows what he's doing and b) you can trust. I've known Darryl for a few years now, and he fits the bill in both categories. I've been looking for a nice manual single for a few weeks now, and when I mentioned to Darryl that I wanted a car just like this... Well, you know what happened then. And Darryl lives local, which is handy for me. Poor bloke...
  8. So, am I the only person who is chuffed that Darryl sold his car? On a slightly related note, if anyone has any tips for maintaining traction in a 545 FWHP car, then feel free to send them my way!
  9. I'm not using the fob for any of this, so I don't think that's an issue, but thanks for the suggestion.
  10. I've just taken ownership of a Supra with a Clifford Concept 300 alarm. Currently, the audible chirps (when arming/disarming) are disabled. I've been trying to enable them, but the system is not behaving as the manual describes. I've gone into Valet mode using my PIN no problem. Then, on p18 of the manual, it says to hold down the * button on the PlainView 2 for 3 seconds until I hear a siren chirp. This doesn't happen when I hold it down. (Could these chirps be disabled too?) Then, when I do the "feature select", I press the unmarked button twice. But instead of the alarm then chirping twice to confirm my selection, it chirps three times, which I think means it's gone back to feature select mode. Similarly, if I then press the * button once (either before or after these three chirps), the alarm then chirps at me three times again. It doesn't appear to be behaving as the manual describes. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this for me.
  11. Fat Controller has sorted me out. Thanks all.
  12. Thanks guys. Nic, another PM coming your way...
  13. Can anyone tell me where I can get a nice FMIC cover? This seems to be one of the things that I can't find under 'Engine Dress' on the traders' sites... Although that could be me just being a muppet.
  14. Anyone got any standard springs? I'm running Eibachs and they're just too damn low! Thanks
  15. I've just bought a new Supra (collecting tomorrow) which has the very popular Do-Luck nosecone. I think it's the best looking nosecone out there, BUT I don't think I'll be able to get it around the car park at work because of the camber changes at the ramps. My old Veilside Supra used to occasionally graze the ground, and I'm led to believe the Do-Luck extends even further forward. Does anyone have a resolution to this problem. (Maybe I need hydraulic suspension!!) Alternatively, can anyone recommend a similar looking nosecone that isn't quite as low/long? I may consider swapping it, so I'd like to gauge interest. BTW, black would be ideal. And I don't want a stock one!
  16. Not very deep, no! But I have no idea what these wheels cost at the moment. I remember from researching last time that the Kahns are probably more than I can afford. But I think I'd rather go with the Weds anyway.
  17. Dave, have you seen this: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=125581
  18. I've just PM'd him, thanks.
  19. I'm looking to buy a set of 18-inch rims for my new Supra! I really like the Weds SA70 in black chrome: http://www.envyperformance.com//images/products/173.jpg And the Weds SA-70TT Face DPT, but I can't tell from the picture if they're silver, black or what! http://www.envyperformance.com//images/products/172.jpg I also like the Kahn's, as pictured here: I think they're the RSCs, but I'm not sure. They are a lot like my old ASAs, so I probably wont go for these again. Plus, the ASAs were cheaper, despite looking so similar. Here's a pic of my old car with the ASAs on: http://supra.just2good.co.uk/myBpuSupra/images/side2.jpg Does anyone know if these will all fit UK brakes? Would any traders like to do me a quote? Thanks
  20. Hilarious. Alas, I dont think I can get away with telling that one over the breakfast table at work tomorrow.
  21. This rings a bell! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=97111 I think the consensus when I posted up this problem originally was that the FCD is probably set at 1.25 bar. This only causes fuel cut if boost is sustained at over 1.25 bar for a couple of seconds or so. I noticed that on particularly cold days, with the silencer/baffle removed, the car would occasionally overboost to 1.3, sometimes nearly 1.4 bar. And it sure has been cold... As has already been stated, the way forward would probably be to fit a slightly smaller restrictor ring and then get a boost controller.
