  1. A friend of mine who's a mechanic checked it out today. He said the brake fluid looked fine, but that the brake discs were scored and could do with replacing. Dammit.
  2. It's kind of brown, but fairly clear. I honestly can't remember what it's meant to look like!
  3. My Impreza's brakes feel quite unresponsive at the moment. At a glance, the discs and pads look fine (although the rear pads are maybe a bit low). Do you think it's worth taking the car to Kwik Fit for their free brake check, or do you think they would ultimately rip me off? (I don't know what their reputation is like.)
  4. Gaz is a legend. He's helped me out in the past too. It's people like Gaz that make this board the great place it is.
  5. Did anyone have to upgrade to .NET 3.5 to install this? I've got the target platform set to .NET 2.0 (and launch conditions), but one guy has just told me it's prompting him to upgrade to .NET 3.5 on his XP Home machine.
  6. I've got XL broadband (20MB), XL phone (unlimited talk at anytime) and XL TV (with V+). The whole package is costing costing me £45/month, plus the £11/month phone line rental. (But for 6 months it's £7/month cheaper.) Speed test results: Downstream... File size transferred : 10.0 MB (10485760 bytes) Throughput : 2276.0 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second] = 2.28 MB/sec [Megabyte-per-second] = 18.21 Mbps [Megabit-per-second] Upstream... File size transferred : 10.0 MB (10485760 bytes) Throughput : 91.0 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second] = 728.0 Kbps [Kilobit-per-second] = 0.73 Mbps [Megabit-per-second] These figures agree with the test results from http://www.speedtest.net, which I've been doing frequently over the past few days. 18.5 Mbps seems to be typical for me. I was previously on ADSL and supposed to be getting 3.2Mbps on an 8Mbps link (due to distance from the exchange). But typically I was only actually getting 0.5 to 1.0Mbps, so things are much better for me now.
  7. Got the car back today. The crack has been repaired, and they've sprayed just that particular area. The spray job isn't very good... It actually looks a bit grey (rather than black) and blotchy. But at least the car is back and I don't have to take it there again. A lesson learned, I think.
  8. No worries. Glad you like it.
  9. Having only just signed up, and with no faults that I could use as a breach of contract, I don't think that'll work for me!
  10. This version can only be configured to change when the PC starts, or when you log in. So, if you logoff and logon again, it will change. I was thinking about adding a timer feature, but decided against it. Maybe I'll put that in the next version.
  11. I didn't realise Mac users had a sense of humour!
  12. This is interesting. I took out the 20MB XL package (and phone) about a week ago, as I was having real trouble with my ADSL provider. It's awesome! But when I was choosing a package, the 50MB one was listed as more expensive. But if I can now upgrade for free... Hmmm.
  13. What do you mean, "if it works?!" I'm not really sure I want to get drawn into an OSX debate over the contribution of some free software...
  14. I've uploaded it to the post above, so you no longer have to bother registering with the forum (my forum) to get it.
  15. Sorry about that. Linky fixed.
  16. Hi guys. I got bored the other night, so I wrote a quick Wallpaper Changer application for the Windows platform. It allows you to create a playlist of pictures, and then apply a wallpaper from that playlist sequentially or randomly. You can set it to run on startup, and it doesn't hog any resources (like many do). It's completely free. If you do try, please let me know what you think. http://www.just2good.co.uk/forum/uploads/dsfiles/img-2-1234564051.jpg P.S. Because it may be too much effort to register with my forum to download this, I've just uploaded it here... P.P.S In case you are interested in visiting the original thread where this was contributed (and hosted), you can find it here: http://www.just2good.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=5781&pid=29376.
  17. Much better than I was expecting...
  18. Well, it's back at Toyota Octagon for the next few days. I can't help but think something else will be a-miss when I get it back. I'll certainly try to inspect it thoroughly, but last time it was filthy, so it was hard to spot anything!
  19. From Monday... http://pics.just2good.co.uk/snow0209/02022009022.jpg http://pics.just2good.co.uk/snow0209/dazBySnowCar.JPG http://pics.just2good.co.uk/snow0209/snowCars.jpg I haven't driven the Supe in a week. I feel a lot safer in the Scooby at the moment!
  20. Well, there's the update... I didn't get a call back on Monday morning as promised, so I chased on Monday afternoon. The guy I spoke to told me they didn't get back to me due to all the snow and stuff... Fair enough, I suppose. He told me he had communicated my issues to the workshop, "as he saw them". (Which basically means, I think, that he told them I complained of a crack that he is adamant wasn't there when it left Toyota.) He said the workshop were "not interested." But then he followed up by saying they would repair the damage anyway, as a gesture of good faith. So I can take my car in once the weather has cleared up, and they'll sort it out. So, all's well that ends well, I guess. It could have gone worse...
  21. Actually, there was the "four finger salute": http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=447031&postcount=17. It seemed popular for a while. Maybe it's time to resurrect it?
  22. Cheers Dan. Sorry for the brushing "nobody takes pride in their work" statement. Cars just get me down sometimes...
  23. Here are some photos of the damage. One shows the scratches on the top (which they say will polish out, no problem), and the other three show the split.
  24. Yes, looks like they've resolved it.
