Yeah - looks like I have a LSD too. Looks like Dazzi beat me to stripping out (I needto get another daily driver first). Does the sprint series only take place in Teeside? I'm not sure about doing anything other than track days at present as they seem to require least preparation and best value for money. I'm moving to a village outside Bedford soon so Bedford Autodrome will be in easy reach. Oulton park is a good circuit but due to slippery conditions everyone (including experienced drivers) was finding Druids (think thats what its called) corner a handfull. When they opened the track we had six restarts in the first two hours starts due people ending up in gravel pit at that corner.

Daily use will consist of around 40 miles on motorway and 30 miles down country / B roads. This might sound strange but I always thought my NA was a bit relaxing. I want something a bit different and with an edge. I would have gone for a Tuscan or T350 if they had 4 seats with reasonable boot. However I'm a bit worried about stigma scoobies and Evo's are getting plus a few advertised P1's have had rebuilt engines which makes me think they will go bang a lot easier than M3's. Plus really long journeys (cropping up more often) in a P1 could become a pain and a M3 with SMG may make up for a bit of the lost fun factor. Anyone know a place that has either for hire? Jas

I'll take a look at VIN in Morning. I was thinking of stripping it completely. The guy I went to track day with has a completely stripped out 325 so far that the speedo guage pod is held in place by tie strings on a roll cage bar. However on a shit day like today the windows kept steaming up and it was F'ing freezing whilst we had to wait for track lane to open. So I'll keep the drivers side of the dash, heating bits and front seats and ditch everything else. They also scraped / sanded all the sound deadening out but I cant see the point as the supra doesnt appear to have a lot anyway. From the engine compartment other than AC bits not sure what else can be done without. In the boot the boot trim, carpet and foam bits will go but again not sure what else can be done without. Do any of you have any pictures of stripped out cars? Thanks Jas

Hi all, Looking for the supra TT bonnet scoop. I'm trying to find a picture of one but cant. Thanks Jas

Evening all, Hopefully you will have seen my earlier posts on turning my NA into a track car which has been my daily drive for last seven years. I'm thinking of using an E46 M3 or Impreza P1 as my daily drive instead but not sure which to go for? If you had to go for one, which would it be and why? N.B. I'd like to test drive them before purchasing but cant find a place to hire either. A 10 min test drive in which the owner is present isnt likely to reveal anything. Thanks Jas

I was just about to add another post to ask if a 95 JSpec NA would have a LSD. It take it from Homers reply that they dont? Which one would you go for and how much would it cost?

Evening all, Went out for my first track day today but only as a passenger:( at Oulton Park. However, I did enjoy the experience and as per an earlier post would like to turn my 95 J-Spec NA into a track car. I'd like some advice on what modifications and checks to make before taking the car out on track hopefully in Spring 09. So far I have - A. Upgraded front calipers to UK Spec and had steel braided lines fitted. B. I've ordered some UK spec Chris Wilson fast road pads for front and rears. Coming upgrades - 1. I'm going to be replacing all the Brake disks with new OEM as they are pretty low at present but not sure if they are best choice. 2. I'm looking to replace the rear calipers to UK Spec 3. I'm going to change the alloys to stock or similar 17" (too expensive to race in the 19" alloys I have). I'm not sure what tyres to use though? 4. I'm also going to strip the car of some weight. Items to go will include - All interior and boot trim, rear seat, stereo equipment, AC equipment, carpets and roof lining. Is there anything else I can remove without requiring mods to make car run or go OTT? It would be great to get some advice from some of you guys who have already ventured down the NA track car route. TIA Jas

Strip it out and go racing! Thats what I'll be doing with mine. They're very hard to sell at moment:(

Seen a couple of cheap DB7's (3 and 4 litre versions). Are they any good? -

Gareth - Whats the spec on the Mustang? I'm assuming its a LHD? Anyone owned an M3 and P1? How would they compare? Any views on an M3? Do you guys think prices will drop a lot between now and summer on performance cars? -

I originally thought I could get a 993 for £15k but they cost more than 996's (seem to have a following amongst porsche enthuiasts). I think I could overlook the two seats and reliability issues on the T350! (I've only seen one on the road in a blue / black) they are real head turners. I'm not too keen on the Skylines for some reason. Kind of thinking M3 at moment. Seems to be an all rounder but just not special / different enough. I dont really want to go down the bodykit route. Which brings me back to the Masserati 3200. Its subtle but musculine and quite rare (bit like Supra's). Ticks all boxes except running costs and reliability. Does anyone have any experience of one or know anyone that has had one? -
Forgot to ask but does the club organise any track days?

Sprint series looks interesting. I've already upgraded the front brakes to UK spec with braided and want to do the same with the rears as disks and pads are on their way out (dont appear to be many rear uk setups on classifieds or fleabay). Was thinking of swapping my Jade R 19's for 17's like yourself. If I want more power (not likely to begin with) then I may look into a nitrous kit. Guess its a case of getting on to a track to try it out. Thanks Jas

Have any of you guys driven any of the recommended cars? How would they compare to a supra for driving? I drove the boss's CLK (think its a 320 Kompressor) and although quite fast, it felt like I was driving a milk float compared to my humble NA, the same goes for a S3 I test drove (old model). I did like the black 350z but are'nt they two seaters? If I was going to go for a two seater it would probably be a TVR T350 (love the styling) or Boxster S (best all round two seater convertible for the money - mate has one). -

The reasons for criteria are 1. 270+bhp: My NA supposedly has 225 and want something faster. (Before you say it yes BHP is not only factor in how fast a car goes but its a good indicator for road cars). 2. Reliability: Its going to be driven every day. Cant be done with something that cant start or breaks down every so often - My mate has Tuscan which is always in garage for some sort of repairs. 3. Running Costs: Could by a classic super car but dont want to spend my entire time and spare cash maintaining one. 4. Sit more than two: I take my twins (3 year olds) out in Supra as they can get in back when other half has taken family car out. 5. Boot: I use my car for work so may need to chuck a PC / monitor in boot occasionally. Might sound strange but I use my supra to do weekly shop occasionally (although stuff does end up on back seats). 6. Looks: I want something different or not so common. The supra still gets nods from people at petrol stations etc. Some people ask me what it is because they've not seen one before. 7. 15k: Basically thats all I have (taken the last seven years to get there too!). I'm likely to keep the NA for track use and use this as a daily tourer. As for recommendations: Boxster: its a 2 seater. 996: Like some have said at 15k it's not likely to be a good one. I guess I could wait 6 months to see if prices come down any further. GS430: Is this the big lexus? I want something fast but also fun and agile. S4 / RS4 / RS6: Possibly, but in motoring reviews they always seem to come second to the M3 Evo: Not thought about this one. How would it compare to a P1. Would either be good as daily drivers (usually described as not good for daily long distance use)? Someone at work has just mentioned a XKR! I'm open to suggestions so keep them coming. Thanks Jas -
I'm getting the 7 year itch - thats how long I've had my MKIV NA and now feel its time for a change. I have thought about a TT but want to try something else. I know this is a Supra forum but if you had £15k and wanted something other than a Supra what would you go for? My criteria is - Must have at least 270bhp, Must be reliable as it will be a daily driver Have reasonable running costs Sit more than two, have some sort of boot, Look good / be different / uncommon (not keen hot hatches) £15k is max budget My shortlist at present is 1. E46 M3 (a bit common) 2. Masserati 3200 (running costs and reliability) 3. 996 (not sure I can get a good one at this price) 4. P1 Impreza (Running costs and feels cheap) Thanks Jas

Hi all I'm getting the seven year itch - thats how long I've had my NA and its been a real brilliant car. It may not be as fast as a TT but for regular road driving and motorway cruising its great. Its never broken down and doesnt cost a lot to run as I had it converted to LPG almost as soon as I bought it. I could go on but basically I feel like its time for a change but dont want to sell the NA. I've been wanting to start doing some trackdays and could strip the NA and prep it or should I sell it (not likely to get more than a couple of grand) and use the money to buy something else? It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has setup an NA for track use. Thanks Jas
