Just recently my Supe sometimes refuses to start. No problems turning over (battery's fine) and if I try for long enough (playing around with the alarm in the interim) it always starts.... Having two alarms fail in my previous car I'm highly suspicious of the immobilizers (it has the standard Toyota alarm and a Clifford Concept 300 installed), but is there anything else it could possibly be besides the alarm? Most of the time it starts first time, it seems pretty random when it won't and it's pretty embarassing! Anyway any ideas greatly appreciated, otherwise I'll be paying the alarm guy a visit. Regards, Francis

Had a great few hours on Saturday and good to meet a few people from the board. Just a shame I couldn't stay for longer and was too hung over Saturday morning to join the convoy! Thanks to Darkrider for getting me through the gates.... Did anyone see the red UK TT6 that was practically in showroom condition? Was amazed by how mint it was (it had a magazine article on it in the window) - anyone's on here? Anyway till next year, now to pay my membership!

Hey there Faye, That'd be me Can't remember for the life of me what I was doing there and then though!

I was planning to fit the stock airbox yesterday but found out all the bolts for it had been lost. Don't suppose anyone has any spare or are these generic bolts which I could get from a hardware store? If so what do I need to ask for? Cheers, Francis

So if I want something that's not going to rot in a few years time which way should I go? Is the Nur spec fully stainless? Where is the best place to buy these and what sort of money am I looking at? Cheers, Francis

I could swear the Supra sounded louder after I got back from my holiday and I think I found the reason why after looking at the exhaust - there's a big rusted hole in the pipe that runs from the rear silencer! Is it just the silencer that's stainless steel or has it just badly corroded? What's the best fix for this? Could a patch be welded on or does it need a new exhaust? (will try and put a photo up later). Cheers, Francis

On the same topic, I just installed my HIDs, looks good so far but I'll be going out tonight to give them a proper test. I've got the same problem, the sidelights look really yellow. I bought some LED bulbs - W5W fitment. First of all these are the right bulbs aren't they? Secondly how do I get in to the side lights? The main lights were fairly easy, but the side lights are a bit restricted for space..Any tips? Cheers, Francis

I love red cars, my first was a red Honda CRX VT and now a red UK TT6... I think it looks great even as standard and thankfully mine doesn't seem to have faded at all, even the door handles! The only true sports car I think looks a bit strange in red is Lamborghini Mercilago.

Hi there, I'm just about to buy a touch up stick for my red UK TT but being on holiday I can't look up the colour code, could anyone help me out? Cheers, Francis

When I was considering a Supra I was also considering a BMW M5 which can be had for well under 20k these days, supercar performance and incredibly practical.. For 20k, I'd also consider a Lotus Elise for the fun factor, but a bit down in the practicality stakes.

Only had my Supra for a couple of weeks now but I've been keeping an eye on the fuel consumption (filling to top and recording miles), the first tank I got 22mpg which I was quite happy with on a mixture of motorway driving and town driving, since I had just got the car and was testing it out a little I thought things could only get better, but the last couple of tanks have been 17mpg and 18mpg on Optimax, I think it's about 270 miles on a full tank, pretty steep! I have found it seems to be a LOT more economical on the motorway though, I can get about 100 miles out of a quarter tank n the motorway according to the fuel gauge.

Hi there I took the plunge today and bought a HID kit. I asked the guy for a 9006 fitment as I've got a UK Supra but when I went to pick it up the box had 9005 stamped on it. I questioned the guy about it but he insisted that the 9005/9006 would both fit and there was no need to worry about it, so I thought i'd ask you guys.... the burner itself doesn't have any fitment markings on it, but i've taken a photo of it. There are three prongs, one small one at the top and two larger ones of the same size at the bottom. Will these fit in my UK headlights or do I need to take them back? Cheers, Francis

A worthy replacement! Engine bay looks like new. So how does it compare to the last one in terms of speed? Anyway glad to hear you went for another Supra!

Hi there Just about to get a HID kit for the car, but I don't want the side lights to be too off the colour of the HID otherwise it'll look stupid. What bulbs does a UK Supra take for the dips/sidelights? I'm also thinking going bi-xenon HID, does this just mean I have an extra set of ballasts for the high beams or are these special kits in themselves? I'm also thinking of getting a front strut brace, is it worth it on it's own or should I really be looking at front and rear etc? Any ones in particular that you guys would recommend? Cheers, Francis

There's a nice Y reg gun metal VVTI I see around these parts, very nice

Hey there, Well thought I might as well introduce myself and the new car. I managed to buy Nickyboy's red UK TT6, had it for three days now and loving it to bits! Pretty much standard apart from a Trust induction kit and HKS Superdragger and that's the way I intend to keep it for now, although a HID kit and clear front indicators are on the cards....and of course a decent stereo. I had a Honda CRX VT before, which was and still is a fantastic car... a lot more go kart like than the Supra, but admittedly in a different league in terms of speed. The Supra's surprisingly quiet, but incredibly quick and handles like it's glued to the road. Can't believe how much attention it gets either, much rarer than Porsche's or Ferrari's around these parts too! Anyway I've already posted my fair share of questions, but here are some more.... I've noticed that when I really floor it (pedal to the floor) it sometimes feels like it's trying to catch up and then the turbo suddenly starts kicking in... I've never had a turbo car before, is this turbo lag? When I take it a bit smoother, there isn't a let up in the acceleration... I guess my question is what's the best way to accelerate, and at what revs should I be changing gear? I've noticed a few cars seem to have a splitter type thing on the bottom of the front bumper, is that the active spoiler? I thought mine had an active spoiler but I can't imagine that black plastic bit would come down....is mine missing? The other thing is that around London I do a few short trips where the car doesn't really get pushed. Nick pointed out that I should leave the car to idle for a bit after driving, is this still necessary for very short trips? How long do you guys leave it idling, after say a motorway drive or a short trip around town? I'm paying quite a bit extra on the insurance for the exhaust and induction kit, I was wondering how the Trust induction kit compares to others on the market? What's the best one to get, because if I'm paying a couple hundred a year extra for the mods I may as well get the most for my money! Alternatively I could put the stock filter back....but would this lose me a lot in performance? Finally, since this is quite a big step up for me in terms of power, do you guys have any useful tips on driving the Supra that you've probably learnt from experience? The last thing I want to do is have a crash Anyway that's about it for now... hope to come to a few of the meets & Santa Pod soon! Cheers, Francis

Hey there, Yep as Nick says I saw this car in Peterborough. A nice chap selling it, the car wasn't mint but probably not a bad buy for someone. If you want more details feel free to PM me. Cheers, Francis

Just went out for a quick spin, my fault, I had assumed it was all the way to the right and down but it's slightly to the left, no problems getting it in now Would love to come to the London meets, should be down Santa Pod next weekend too. Cheers, Francis

Cheers Nick Probably just needs a bit of getting used to. Have been clocking up the miles in the last couple of days, managed to get 21mpg on the first tank which was a plesant surprise. Still can't believe how quick it is! Didn't realise how much traction control holds it back, especially in first gear, but it certainly gets a lot twitchier with it off, especially when braking I've noticed... Anyway off for another drive Francis
-
Hi there Just bought Nick's UK 6spd TT and have been driving it almost contantly for the last two days! Anyway I've noticed sometimes it juts won't go in to sixth gear, and then at other times it seems to go in fine. Is there something I'm missing, does it matter what speed you're travelling at to put it in sixth or is this a common problem? Cheers, Francis

Out of interest, what's the legal situation with those black number plates with silver lettering? I've seen a few on nice cars around London, are they legal?
-
Cheers for the replies... Strangely enough it wasn't turning off yesterday but it works this morning, also the ! sign on the rev counter lights up a little bit (only faintly) when I turn the TRC off - is that normal... Anyway I'll leave it on for now and perhaps it can come off in a week or two
-
Hey there, Just got myself Nick's red UK TT6 yesterday, had a great time driving it around most of last night! Anyway was wondering how I go about turning off traction control - the button doesn't seem to click in/out.. Cheers, Francis

Cheers Nic, Might have to be in touch as I'm coming out to Hong Kong in a few weeks

Cheers for that, what size disklok do you guys use as I may as well get it before the Supra
