    HID: Group buy!

Well my HID kit arrived today from the US seller supervtec. Came in at £246 including P&P via FedEx Priority (no tax) - I bought it on eBay on the 13th, so the guy's pretty quick! Anyway the ballasts are Philips LVQ 212-L300's and the bulbs are apparently Bosch, although it's notoriously hard to tell where they came from for certain as the D2S/R bases with this info on are taken off to put the new base on. The ballasts come with plastic cases for extra protection and mounting, there's a full harness included with relays to draw power from the battery rather than the existing loom. There are also cable ties and sticky pads to mount the ballasts. Attached is a photo of the kit. I will hopefully install this tomorrow weather permitting and post my findings!
  2. Hmm I always go for 10 day auctions 99p starting bid no reserve, works every time Also try and start your listings at a good time in the evening, as this is the time they'll end at and you want people to be around to bid (not too early in the morning for example)

59,000 JPY + 29800 JPY = 88,800.00 JPY = 437.477 GBP Not bad going by the box price

    HID: Group buy!

Just an observation but isn't the second system down (http://www.ekdg.co.kr/inform/prdt_auto.asp) the same ballast used in Nic's kit?

    HID: Group buy!

I have read that most cars come with bulbs rated at around 4500K, however the blueish tint often seen is down to the projectors and not entirely the bulb itself. My personal view is that having had 6000k Philips bulbs in the past (albeit the wrong fitment), the colour these bulbs give through the Supra UK lights is superb makes the car look great in the dark, plus when cars see you coming they just move out of the way! (probably thinking you're the police). My kit (Philips LVQ-212-L300 ballasts with Bosch rebased 9006 bulbs) from an eBay seller (with excellent 100% feedback) is arriving today, and I will post up a full comprehensive review once I've had it fitted - as others have mentioned this is what we need as there are so many kits out there and the results are variable. All this said, HID is extremely popular and is only just begining to catch on here. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the prices of these kits coming down, and there isn't any reason why we shouldn't be seeing good and cheap kits made by the Chinese, but of course it's all down to people trying and testing before one can say for sure.
  6. Shame I missed the journey but great to meet Ben, Yulia and dal007 briefly! Bring on the next London meet!
  7. Last year's event was great. Is there a strip there with less loose stones though? I guess it would have been alright one car at a time, but with four cars going down at once stones were flying everywhere
  8. This looks like a bit of fun, I'll be there, won't be able to do the run itself as I have to work but will be nice to see the cars and peeps.

    HID: Group buy!

This looks like the same kit I have purchased, those ballasts pictured are the LVQ 212-L300s which are supposedly very high quality and reliable (unlike the slimline Philips ballasts which I previously had - come in the Giantlight kit). Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

    HID: Group buy!

There's a guy on eBay who sells kits for £180 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UK-Dealer-Xenon-HID-Conversion-Kit-for-all-Cars-100_W0QQitemZ8028933509QQcategoryZ72235QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). His feedback seems pretty good from people who have bought the kit, but I can't vouch for him personally. He also sells kits with Hella ballasts for £299 on his website (http://www.hids4u.co.uk). After doing a bit of research myself I've opted for a kit from the USA with Philips LVQ 212-L300 ballasts (with integrated igniters) and Bosch rebased 9006 bulbs + wiring loom, which works out at £245 via Fedex, will post a review once I get it installed.
  11. Hi there, I'm interested in changing all my normal Jubilee clamps for Mikalor ones just for some extra security and might look a bit nicer. First of all does anyone know what sizes I'm going to need if I replace all of the clamps in my car? Secondly I see that on http://www.mikalor.co.uk/ they offer a discount for buying 10+, would anyone be interested in a group buy - we could put together a clamp replacement kit.. I'd be happy to try and organise this if there was enough interest. Regards, Francis
  12. Very nice! Well worth it at that price, a real rarity.
  13. Whilst on my travels waiting for my car to be serviced at Phoenix I came across two Supras both J-spec and silver, one in Elstree and one on Wood Street in High Barnet I think... both very nice. Great to have the Supra back after a day of public transport - the boys at Phoenix did a top job once again! Regards, Francis
  14. Don't worry I will be in the future! So does anyone have any better ideas on the placement of these badboys? Could it even be feasible to place them in the interior and run long wires to the igniters?
  15. Hi guys, Well I replaced my headlights today only to find the battery had been leaking on to my HID ballast, and since moving it the lights on that side refuse to light up! Bugger. Anyway I've managed to get my hands on another HID kit but want to have a proper job done on the placement of the ballasts and igniters. Anyone care to share where they secured theirs? With the stock airbox etc there doesn't seem to be much space around! Cheers, Francis
  16. I think that's what I had in there already, although I had a Bosch in my CRX once and that was leaking, returned it pronto for a different one which was fine.
  17. Hi there guys Just finished swapping my headlights out only to find my battery has been leaking a bit, it's not even that old, two years at most. Anyway I think I'd better get a new one before it gets any worse - can you guys recommend me a top quality battery for a UK TT6 that won't leak? Even better if you know where to get one cheap (delivered or around London)! Cheers, Francis
  18. Well if you want to see Richard Hammond he's got his own talk show on ITV at 5.. saw it the other day, another programme not to watch!

    Whats This Part

Looks like a Laserline alarm to me, not 100% sure though.
  20. It's pretty good, I've been using it for a while - enters my numbers twice a week and lets me know when I've won (as far as I know!) - so far I've had about £20 back on about £40 worth of entries.
  21. Are you sure it was keyed and not caused by another car? Hospital/doctors surgery car parks are notorious for accidents, all the scrapes I've ever had have been caused by people in hospital car parks when the car's parked up
  22. Haven't seen this one for a while, but there used to be a Silver Supra around these parts in Chelsea, which I always saw parked up on Fulham Road outside the Ralph Lauren store... The number plate was BURN - can't remember how that was pulled off but it looked good! Haven't seen it recently, just wondering if it was anyone's off here? Cheers, Francis

  24. There's a person on eBay who sells 9006 fitment HID replacement bulbs, the auctions seem to go for 9.99 but he charges £30 P&P on top of that... Not entirely sure how good the bulbs are, they're not Philips, but I wonder whether any of them apart from the DR2 ones actually are.
