Some of their polices do make sense, but equally they also have a dangerous standpoint on a number of issues. I think a clean version of the BNP would be a success, something like the UKIP tried to be - but failed.

Our house is opposite a flag factory. They fly a St George cross and the Union Flag. We had a visitor from another British country who said: "I couldn't live here that fuc*ing thing is repulsive, I'd have it pulled down." Now who is being racist there?

I would like to say the one thing I am proud of is the English language. But judging by some of the spelling in this thread, I better not;)

I suffer with it too and am not about to change the habit of a lifetime. If Scotland are playing any sport under the Saltaire I want them to loose (Unless it against the French) and likewise if we are playing I except every Scotman to want us to get stuffed. Too right

The wrongs of our forefathers have been altered by giving all the countries of the Empire their freedom from British rule (remember it was the British Empire). But equally 53 of those countries still remain in the Commonweath (of which the Queen is still the head) so it can't have been all bad.

I think a lot of this is to do with the 'historical baggage' that England has to carry around. When we show our pride in the nation and hoist the flag we are deemed as being racist and have to be careful that we don't upset somebody. http://www.presidentreagan.info/images/english_flag.jpg
