  2. Sort of... The ACIS system doesn't "create" more power/torque, it is an attempt at making a variable pulse tuned intake so the engine will run more within a wider optimal rev band.
  3. The valve you've shown is part of the Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS), this is supposed to control unwanted pressure pulses within the inlet tract, which causes, amongst other things, rough running. It's vacuum controlled from a VSV so my first thought would be a vacuum problem. If it was a VSV signal/electrical problem I would have expected to see an ECU fault code. It could still be the valve thats at fault, maybe the valves diaphagm is split. See if your celica has the same valve (it has the same engine) and substitute it to see.
  4. Ahh, right! well you offered your spare to clueless first, but if he doesn't want it I'll give it a go.
  5. Are you talking about a standard usb to standard usb? Cause I was also under the impression there was a problem with that. Might it be an issue with usb1.0/usb2.0 tho?
  6. I think it depends on where the geometry is set currently, if it's already set near it's limit in the direction you want to go then maybe not, I think the best answer to your questions here are to get the car to somebody who can measure it up and then see if they can do it, there is very little we can do now as the next step would be to see pictures of all the suspension adjustment points to advise on what can be done.
  7. Is it something you might be able to make Si? I may be interested in one soon.
  8. Try this place... http://www.giff-tech.co.uk/ Their ebay shop has 100% feedback but you have to go to the website for the usb, they appear to be based in the UK but advertize to the US only it appears, might be wrong on that tho. If you go for it, give us some feedback on the usb, I'm guessing a few people would be interested. Meant to say their ebay name is velocetterider on ebay.com not ebay.co.uk .... also just noticed that both you and them are in Wales
  9. Thanks for that chaps, over the last few months been chatting with a few people on and off about moving abroad (various locations) and the subject always comes up whether to take a car with you or just import one when you get there.
  10. I so wish I'd taken a camera with me that day! Well, if your customer is happy with it, thats all that matters, I wish him luck. (genuine statement, NO sarcasm intended or implied, before anybody gets the wrong end of the stick)
  11. Hello & welcome, could I ask what it took to get a second hand righthand drive car imported and registered in Canada? What's the current legislation on that?
  12. Your not the first person to mention the stripes, they were only available on the JDM or US market cars (I think?). I quite like them and it gives it a level of uniqueness in this country. Some goodies that will be going on it...
  13. A progress teaser! ...and yes I know it's taking ages, I think of it as therapy
  14. Any "old skool" cars there today?
  15. After a little digging... TT starter 1.2Kw N/A starter 1.4Kw
  16. As I understand it, physically they will bolt up, but there is a difference in the cranking amps, the N/A has a higher compression ratio so requires more Oomph! from the starter motor, a TT starter on an N/A would probably work fine but may turn the engine over a bit slower, this comes from old memory so I'll wait for that to be confirmed or not.
  17. How much for the high level tail light? I'm in Warminster so collection is easy. EDIT: ...and is that a clutch master cylinder? or brake?
  18. I am happy that you have chosen to respond, that is your right in an open forum, you are also correct that this sort of thing would normally degenerate into a bunfight. In an attempt to prevent that I will conceed that my initial post ref the car may have appeared strongly emotive, however my opinion of the cars condition (and defects) hasn't changed. I'm not going to go into tit for tat arguement over every point I raised, suffice to say it would appear that you view the car with your "glass half full", I view it with my "glass half empty" and I know which view would cost me, or any other member, the less in the long run (mine). However, three points I will pick on to discuss further if you wish are these... I never said the car had been in a substantial rear impact, I clearly stated that the damage was not enough to crease the boot floor in my original post, but never the less that rear panel has been pushed in, beneath the boot rear trim panel, viewed with the spare wheel cover removed it can be clearly seen where the panel has been pushed in (more to the left side than the right), the stuctural integrity of the boot floor had not been compromised by the knock, but by the rust in the seams caused by the moisture let in, due to the now poor panel alignment. (see my comments on rust below) The taillights are missaligned, viewed from the side or above, the taillight lens should be perfectly aligned with the tailgate skin and sit neatly within the recess of the rear bumper, the taillights in this car do not, especially the righthand one that protrudes back beyond the line of the tailgate skin and does not sit neatly in the bumper recess on that side, probably due to the fact that the tailgate opening lock passes though this lamp, which is firmly attached to the back panel, which is bent. Mearly dropping something on the tailgate does not ripple the inside skin of the structure, that kind of damage takes something more substantial. I will agree that most cars have thin paint in the recesses. But this is not due to thin paint, this is due to it being rubbed off and not replaced. Rust is rust, it doesn't matter whether it's surface rust or not, once metal starts to oxide the only way to stop it is to cut it out and replace it. It may be possible to "make good" for a short period, maybe even a few years, but rust is like cancer, once it starts you cannot stop it and there is no way to remove it from structural joints or panels short of replacement. Didn't have the decency!! We had communicated before I travelled to see the car, you knew I was coming, I had said on the phone that I would give you a bell as I was setting off so you knew what time to expect me. I will conceed that due to the pressure of my own work I forgot to give you that bell and once on the road I didn't think that would be too much of an issue, obviously it was, so appologies for that, but don't try to make it seem that I just turned up unannounced. I also would welcome any independant inspection of this car, even anybody from here, take photo's an post them here also. You advertized this car as a "Fantastic example...", when in fact it is average (bordering poor) at best even considering it's tender age, that is my opinion. However, you seem to now have a buyer, he appears to now be aware of our chalk and cheese opinions, so all that really matters now is his opinion.
  19. Scan down this thread... https://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=185046
  20. Please tell me you didn't pay full price? please tell me you took somebody with you who knows what to look for on these cars? and please tell me you've got an agreement with the seller to fix at least some of the issues? The thread mentioned above was posted by me and all comments with-in it are obviously just my opinion of the car, but you may want to re-examine it with the heads-up. What matters is whether you are happy with the purchase, (also stated at the end of that post by me). The post was also copied into another thread in a more public area, I'll see if I can find it again.
  21. What!!! Oh well, nevermind, whats done is done. Doesn't neccessarily mean there is a big problem with the car, but we are either going to need to see pictures of the problem or you need to get it to somebody who can measure it up. Also you didn't answer the question on whether you have had the rear suspension stripped off or not.
  22. Lazarus

    oh yes

(Preparing to throw verbal handgrenade...) Football is just an excuse for 22 grown men to have a kiss and a cuddle! (Remember, when the pin is pulled, Mr handgrenade is not your friend!) from a safe distance.
  23. Whats your wheel offset? Lowered the car at all? Had the rear suspension stripped down at any point of your resto? Pics might help.
  24. Nearly 5 years worth of inane patter, poor jokes and just plain old rubbish.
