  1. Hi Chaps, does anyone know of any companies that can modify the vvti (with tiptronic) ECU properly? By that I mean I would like the software changing if possible to remove the speed limiter. I know I'm probably looking at someone in japan or similar. I have the TRL speed delimiter fitted, only problem is after say 112ish the speed signal is capped and the gearbox won't change up properly cus it thinks it's still doing 112ish If anyone knows of any tuning companies that may be able to do this please...please...please let me know. cheers markb
  2. MMMmmm you will probably also have a spare black plug floating (or poss taped up) somewhere close by for the switch. I fitted an active spoiler to mine (a vvti) a couple of weeks back, all I had to do was connect the spare plugs (like the one in your pic) and it worked first time The looms would have been made up with the wires in place, far cheaper to make one loom with all options I guess? I'm fairly sure that's the kiddie, find the black plug too and you will know for sure. cheers markb
  3. Could be wrong but it looks like the plug for the active spoiler ECU. I assume you havent got one plugged in back there? normally the ECU would sit in the black guides shown below the silver box in the picture. cheers markb
  4. If it's just a pipe, whip it off and find a local hydraulic pipe manfacturer. They will be able to fabricate a new one in no time. I did this on an old cortina once, they even reused the old high pressure ends. It might be a PITA to get out, looks like the active spoiler etc. will be in the way cheers mark
  5. Yep, I would goto Thor if I were you. When I got my supra I had to remove the two speedo converters someone had put in the car and replace them with the one unit from pete. Get one from pete, no messing around and you don't need to do it twice cheers markb
  6. Did anyone solve this problem? cheers mark

    172mph!

Oh no it's a big problem with the VVTi's ...... an even bigger problem when there is a motorbike in the rear view mirror (like yesterday) Has anyone got round this problem??? I think I'll start trying to find a tuner who can modify the ECU if that's possible. cheers mark

Ey up, nice one Do any of you guys have problems with the auto box trying to kick down (imports with speed de-limiter). My vvti auto box wont drop into top gear without backing off the throttle, then if you floor it, it kicks down...... Anyone else....... cheers mark
  9. A friend of mine got his stock IC out by removing the plastic wheel arch liner un bolting and pulling into the wheel area..........if that makes sense. No bumber off or anything, a couple of hours if I remember correctly. cheers markb
  10. I was thinking of using a torque wrench???? I was only thinking of the banjo connection at the caliper end!!! Thanks for the info guys, I'm collecting the calipers tomorrow, so should be going back on this weekend.... I'll post some pics when thay are on. cheers markb
  11. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? And what about the brake line connection? cheers markb
  12. yep that's right..... NC = No connection, just tape up cheers
  13. Hi guys, anyone know what the troque should be for UK spec brake calliper bolts? I'm talking about the two main bolts that hold the calliper on the hub and the bolt holding the brake pipe on. Cheers, Markb
  14. I'm going to send mine off to GVN Coachworks in the next couple of weeks. I spoke to Vincent there, he says about £100 to £150 plus one week should see the calipers restored I'll post some pics when they are done, might be worth calling them? cheers mark
  15. Hi Chris, I would be interested in a group buy, what sort of ball park price are we talking? (including fitting) cheers markb
  16. Ey up, have you tried Pristine in Milton Keynes? Could be worth a call. My friend had his alloys done there (not split rims)....very good job, better than new. cheers markb
  17. to be honest at this level I would be surprised if there is much difference between the F1's and the pilots?? I've always used the pilots and rate them highly for the price...... a set of the Yoko AVS would be nice though cheers mark
  18. ey up, how about Michelin pilot sports?? does anyone else use these? cheers mark
  19. Not done this on a MKiv yet......so probably no help but......... I had the same problem on my mkiiiT, new gaskets and a couple of hours sorted the leak out. Don't bother trying to over tighten the fastners to try and seal the leak,,,, the new gaskets usually fix it first time. If you are still having problems, a smear of hylomar blue could help, cheers mark
  20. Anyone bought one of these pumps from the states? Might be worth looking into at the current exchange rate cheers mark
  21. Thanks gyus, I'll start making some calls..............................
  22. ey up, does anyone have a contact for RAYS Engineering in Japan? I've got a set of Victrix alloys manufactured by them and I need new centres. I've tried contacting them through their website....no luck, wondered if anyone else had contacts with them. For those wondering who RAYS are, they make the Volks and TRD alloys etc...and everybody knows them Cheers mark
  23. I can vouch for michelin pilot sports, good price, grip and wear rate. I've had em on my mkiii for years. I will be putting them on the mkiv when it needs new rubber........ my friend has them on his mkiv no complaints there either cheers
  24. ey up, I've got a 98 vvti and I'm looking to fit an active spoiler.......what parts do I need. So far I think I need : Spoiler c/w linkage and motor (obviously) ECU - where does this go? Dash Switch anything else? Any other relays, fuses, control modules??? I'm assuming all the required wiring is already in the car? Anyone had probelms fitting these? thanks in advence mark
  25. Nope, so far the TC only goes into snow mode after wheelspin Then you have to be quick to turn it off!!! Maybe you still have a sensor problem somewhere? I dare say I'll finish up with the TRL solution, I will let you know if I have the same probelm after fitting. cheers,
