for sale Black 1998 VVTi Tiptronic Supra 49k miles
suprabrown replied to suprabrown's topic in Supra Classifieds
Cheers, it will be a sad day when she sells, been here so long it's part of the family! -
Guys it's time to sell the supra , unfortunately it's just a bit too small since we started a family last year, so i'm looking to change it for something with a bit more space (thinking RS4 Avant... always wanted a V8) It's a black 1998 VVTi with the auto/tiptronic box and black leather seats. The supra was imported in 2002 and I bought it in 2004 and it has been kept as a weekend car ever since. Since being in the UK it has had full Toyota Service History with the last service being done 28/02/2011 (inc. MOT). The supra is taxed until end of sept 2011 and it is in excellent condition throughout. The supra has had a few choice modifications over the usual Supra VVTi spec to include; HKS Hi-Power Silent SS Cat-back exhaust C/W double decat pipes TRD LSD (fitted by CW) UK Spec Brakes (painted red with supra logo) SS Brake Hoses Pagid RS4 Brake Pads (recent with discs) HKS Springs CW Yellow Bilstein Dampers Full set of nearly new Michelin Pilot Sport's fitted Kenwood double din DVD/Tuner with Ipod connection in centre arm rest 6 disc sony cd changer mounted in the spare wheel area CW supplied and fitted bleed valve set to 1.0bar max (never goes above, usually hovers around 0.9bar) Greedy electronic boost gauge mounted in dash (old vent location) - looks OEM fitment Active front spoiler I'm asking £7,995 for the Supra which is a bargain for anyone looking for a low mileage example with FTSH. I would consider a p/x if anyone has a B7 RS4 Avant for sale!! Private plate not included in the sale. The car is available for viewing weekends and evenings (just off J28 M1), please call 07792 282 423 (I'm Mark), Pm me if you have any questions, couple of pics;

hi, just wondered if there was any update on this thread?? I've got a tiptronic and I'm probably as frustrated as pete with the speed limiter issue, the conclusion I've come to is that to remove the speed limiter fully I would have to replace the ECU and leave the original one in there taking care of the gbox and stuff I've got the thor unit fitted, you just have to remember to knock off the trac control when you get in the car........who needs it anyway...LOL..... the problem with the speed limiter is when you have a plonker in a 911 (private road of course) and need to show him where the supras advantage is Cheers

Doh! skoolboy error

I'm wiith pete on this one, it really pi$$es me off when you try and give it WOT past 112mph trouble is with a car like this that sort of speed comes round soooo easily !!!! and if you are in the habit of taking on bikes you need WOT all the way past 150 leptons I would doubt the kickdown is just of a switch, the VVTi has some sort of accelerator pedel position transducer I'm guessing it uses this plus engine speed, actual car speed etc....... I even thought of trying to get in touch with Denso to see if they could supply me with a new ECU without the speed limiter............bet that would be a fair old price can someone pleeeese sort this out!!!!
-
no noise ...... so far on my LSD I would think most noise is due to not being fitted correctly????? But not being an expert I could be talking rubbish appart from when I first set off in a morning, I reverse back then drop it into drive and set off on a full lock turn into the road (a bit of tyre scrub sound).....you can't tell any difference from stock - noise wise.....
-
don't think about it,,,,,,,just do it It will all be over soon!!! If you are anything like me as soon as you start talking about it the next thing you know the wallet is out and the girlfriend is upset Don't worry about the wet, you need to push the car i.e. 2nd turbo coming in at WOT before there is too much trouble, and then you *should* be expecting it cheers mark brown (with the TRD LSD )

Hi justin....... I'd better check the garage...........................the car was still there this morning I think you must have a different mark brown (common name!!) Don't know if CW has worked on your car, but it's mine he is talking about in the earlier post. But...... it does look like your seals are buggered When we put the LSD in chris fitted new seals -- Nic can sort you out with the correct parts if needed cheers Mark Brown

Oh, the problem with the gearbox is because you have capped the speed signal to the ECU, thus eliminating the speed limiter but also telling the gearbox controller that the car is still doing say 110mph! cheers
-
well, it's a bit of yes and no i'm afraid.................. I've got the vvti tiptronic and the thor unit fitted, it does remove the speed limiter, however it buggers up the traction control (so you have to switch it off every time you get in the car) and because these cars have an integrated ECU for the engine & gearbox it won't change into top gear at WOT........worse still if you are doing say 130 and floor it, it will change down into the revlimiter....... if you can find someone who can properly sort the ECU....please....please let me know cheers mark
-
Oh, forgot to mention.......... my diff was an open diff from the factory, so, monkeymark, yes you can fit the TRD LSD to a non-lsd.......but you must ensure you get the right part, there are two different sizes. Nic can check for you if you supply him with your car details (axle code from chassis plate etc.) cheers,

Hi, I've got the TRD LSD fitted, as mentioned above, supplied by Nic and fitted by Chris Wilson - Would recomend the LSD, a big improvement however it does make the car a bit more unstable in the wet, or put another way you need to learn how to drive it properly It is predictable though and you can therefore control it with some practice. thanks to both nic and chris for their service, job well done.................. cheers mark
