  1. I bought a oem dual mass flywheel from toyota (not supra) last week and it had LUK stamped on it. so yes toyota use luk flywheels and clutch kits. a worn dual mass flywheel does make a knocking noise normally goes away when clutch pedal pressed down. you can measure the travel of the flywheel and endfloat to find out if its worn.
  2. I have a AEM v1 in my car had no issues runs like a dream no cold start issues and was mapped by ryan on the first install.
  3. both cars i was running the PI-histall (Precision Industries)
  4. i ran a 3800 hi-stall on a single and a standard twinturbo car had no daily driving issues. and came on boost alot quicker.

    ARP head stud

I had to machine my deep socket to fit in the recess, was unable to find a thin wall socket.

    ARP head stud

I'm sure its imperial 1/2" 3/8 drive deep bi-hex socket
  7. On boost the spark duration is increased which basically means more current draw from the coil pack to jump the plug gap and maintain the spark. so a weak coil pack will fail. IF you have the coil pack failing on the same cylinder after replacement then it will be a fault with the ignitor pack (end stage) all these componets can be checked using a scope.
  8. I have always soldered joints and never had issues. YES soldered joints if not done correctly can cause high resistance and dry joints. but then again the amount of modern german cars a have repaired due to electrically issues resulting from corroded crimped joints i'll recommend soldering. unless its a oxygen sensor
  9. Never a problem with landrovers that age its too much of a simple design:)
  10. 2000 will be a td5 engine you can pickup a new turbo from a motor factor at a good price. normally they do smoke and loose power when the turbo fails if you are just getting a noise then look for a boost leak check all pipes.
  11. All joints have to be soldered and heat shrinked so will take a few hours, Maybe the garage was not keen on doing the job so just out priced it.
  12. exchange the hammer for a pair of side cutters with a bit of twist and tape it should be fine:d
  13. Might be wrong but i think you will need a hks DLI unit as it will have to be set as wasted spark, the intergal built in ignitor in the Aem ecu can only fire a max of 5 coils but please confirm this from a tuner
  14. I would say approx £300 and have the car for a day. that does not include a base map to run engine.
  15. Alternator has stopped charging, As the battery voltage drops down it will flag up all sorts of faults and ecu's start doing wonderful things. P.S Is it a diesel? if so it will have a clutch type alternator pulley which do fail might get away with just a pulley.
  16. pull out the traction fuse in the engine bay fusebox and see what happens, to me it seems that the traction control is detecting slip might be a faulty abs sensor or trapped wire
  17. N/A and TT converters are different, just drill out the broken bolt and use a stud extractor to remove it.
  18. IF the power is dropping out then you have a power feed problem you are getting voltage drop. if the voltage is only dropping to say 8volts then it could be a faulty pump loading the circuit.
  19. your exhaust side turbine will be stuck in the exhaust system somewere acting as a restricter hence low boost
  20. Without the 12v mod you should still see 9volts its seems you might have a bad connection, check the terminals in the grey connector plug there is also a connector plug in the spare tyre well which comes from the fuelpump ecu check that aswell. the multimeter is not a good way for testing live circuits try using a 12v bulb will give you a better indication of wiring connections.
  21. The tag you have posted is for toyota WHITE 040 EDIT: see whats going on now:d
  22. here is a link to a similar problem to yours http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?261842-please-help-loud-bang-now-car-won-t-start/page5&highlight=ring+gear
