  1. Are you sure it was the PREVIOUS owner ?
  2. If you are getting a lot of steam on the rear of engine, then the first thing to check is the heater hose that goes on top of the cylinder head at the rear, they do go hard and brittle over time.

    Cowboy jobs

i done some work on a mates car once that he bought. it had recaro sport seats fitted with no runners or framework but were placed on BRICKS f**ck no's how he manged to drive round in it:d
  4. Not very good with keyboards normally take me 5 mins to write a sentence, hence quick and short:d
  5. does it trip out when items used separately ?
  6. remove all light bulbs first then switch on power, see if it still trips you can then refit one bulb at a time to see which section of the circuit is causing the fault and go from there. can even be a faulty bulb ?
  7. you can buy silicone spray (made by wurth) that is for seatbelts
  8. the egr valve was fitted to reduce emissions at certain rpm load. IF its the valve you can buy a blanking plate and have the valve removed, but will need to have a software upgrade so the management light does not come ON for a egr fault. also check the pipes that go to the boost solenoid and wastegate as that can also make the engine go into limp mode (lacking power)
  9. sounds like you have triggered the pre-tensioner. you will require a new seatbelt assy. does the airbag light stay on ?
  10. Its impossible to give you the Answer that your looking for . can be anything from a ignition mis-fire to fuelling issues or even a possible vacuum leak. IF you can do some tests and maybe get some more information you might get some better answers.
  11. cut it in half using a angle grinder:innocent:
  12. i removed mine when it was a auto and the gear change was very harsh,my overdrive light also kept flashing even thou i still had the position sensor and motor fitted.
  13. could get expensive the wiring loom for the injectors tends to fall apart when disturbed as the loom is inside the cam cover. also the injectors seals will require replacing. we have four td5 landrovers at work and all of them had to have new cylinder heads fitted under warranty due to constant problems.
  14. if its black engine oil then it could be the oil cooler but if its creamy then its more likely to be the headgasket. the td5 engines do suffer from head problems but its normally fuel in sump.
  15. its on the gearbox nearside rear has two wires going to it.
  16. It all depends on what alarm the vehicle has fitted and who wired it. if the engine management light comes on with ignition then the ecu should be getting its power supply and the thing should fire up. the only time i will look towards a igniter pack is IF the fuel pump is running while cranking and there is a trigger signal feed from the ecu to igniter pack but no output signal from igniter.
  17. the reverse light switch is on the gearbox, so if its staying on even with the car in park then its most likely faulty switch.
  18. I still feel that your problem will be alarm or fuse related. first check to see that you have a 12v feed to the coilpack connector (black wire+orange tracer) with the ignition on if you do, then you can carry on doing your ignitor pack ecu checks, if you do not have any ignition feed then the problem is pre-ecu (fuses/alarm)
  19. Are you sure that the distributor is timed correctly ? make sure that the timing mark on the crankshaft is at tdc then remove no1 spark plug to confirm that the piston is all the way up on that cylinder. with the distributor cap removed the rotor arm should be pointing towards no1 spark lead.
  20. possible damp distributor cap ? remove the cap and check inside.
  21. top of my head, might be speed sensor related ? as it needs to know the rpm and speed to select the right gear.
