  7. we are looking for a heavy goods vehicle apprentice at luton airport:d
  8. Its only common on cars that do short journeys, the egr valve remains open on light loads and shuts fully on rapid throttle response or high load, so driving around doing short journeys clogs the valve with carbon. IF you have access to live data you can compare the air mass readings to egr valve opening position to find out exactly what is going on with the engine as both are linked. i still believe you need to do a full diagnostic check done on OTHER ecu components on the vehicle to find the problem as most ecu's on that car are linked via can-bus. doing just a engine fault code read will not help if you have a intermititent fault with a canbus error fault to some components.

  11. Good luck see you at the open day:)
  12. looking at the spun bearing i'll be suprised if the crankshaft is still good, the tolerance on the journals is very small before its scrap. good luck with the build
  13. Quick update fitted standard torque converter back into car and all is working fine again:)
  14. i used a on/off switch were it kept the pin grounded until switched off.
  15. Right, i have fitted a pi 3800 hi-stall the other day, and wired in a lockup switch (pin 14b to ground) the first time i used the lockup switch it locked the torque converter but remained locked even after switching it off. the only way i can stop the car from stalling is putting it in neutral before i come to a stop:rolleyes: have removed the switch. pin 14b has 12volts meaning its off, IF i leave the car parked up for a hour its fine until i start driving again and it will lockup. can it be a internal problem in the torque converter or will it be the gearbox?
  16. The exhaust side of the blades seem to have alot of black dirty oil around them, wonder if they were any good to start with ?
  17. Not part of the test, will show "mileage unknown" on mot certificate
  18. i have just given mine in for a rebuild this morning so no longer required. i assume the one you are selling is a modified stall on a standard torque converter ?
  19. looking for a high stall torque converter, willing to pay £200 as thats the cost of having my one repaired. to suit TT pre-facelift:) NO LONGER REQUIRED
  20. IF the engine management light comes on then its normally a emission related fault ie sensors/map/egr but if the car with a spanner light comes on then its normally body ecu or power feed related. i had a 1.6 zafira 2003 with a similair fault which turned out to be the fuel pump relay as the engine RPM is also connected in the same circuit. the diagnostic machine was showing no faults.
