  2. Sounds like coolant temperture sensor. you can access the fault codes using a link wire on the diagnostic plug just do a search on the web for correct pins.
  3. Is it a petrol 1.8/1.6 normally the engines which have the ecu bolted on top suffer this fault and is a internal problem with the ecu and normally there is no fault code. it can also be the throttle pedal sensor (fly-by wire) if the mileage is high but that will flag a fault code.
  4. CHECK the crankshaft sensor and the pickup star for the sensor.

    Removing EGR

    you can just remove it and blank off the hole, the EGR acutally reduces the combustion temperatures by adding burnt gases back into the intake reducing Nitrogen Oxides. you have a choice save the planet or gain more engine power:d
  6. With a exhaust leak the emssion lamda readings will be too high so proberly fail a mot test,if you do have a split vac pipes that can cause the fault as i'm sure that engine has a EGR valve,vac controlled.

The coolant sensor for ecu will have two wires on it and the gauge sensor will have one,make sure you changed the correct one. leakage on exhaust system will also show a o2 sensor fault so make sure there are no exhaust leaks around the sensor area were air can be drawn in which will give the sensor a incorrect reading.

  9. Carb cleaner will be fine the ETCS is bolted onto the outside and only controls the butterfly so no contact there!
  10. The kit is wider you cannot just fit the sideskirts as they will stick out beyond the front wings. The only way is fitting the complete kit,it will require alot of adjustments to make the whole bodykit line up. (talking from experence)
  11. forgot to add i think with the cardig you are looking at you might have to purchase the software for each vehicle seperate to gian live data and programming or it will just be a code reader
  12. delphi kit is user freindly and does communicates with MOST vehicles i found it better on diesels, does have the option of live data but limited. The bosch kit is very good on european vehicles has the avantage of wiring diagrams,live data includes options for Actual data for comparions. it all depends on what type of vehicle you will be working with as no daignostic machine does everything. i have use of bosch/delphi/carman scan/vagcom/vauxcom/texa/picoscope (happy days:))

  15. its only used while the block is being honed to create the stress of the cylinder head once bolted.
  16. Most modern diesel engines run on VERY fine tolerances on fuel injectors and high pressure pumps by using poor quality fuel you risk the service life of these items. i have seen damaged injectors due to veg oil and even bio deisel. prices for new injectors on modern cars are not cheap.

You need a scope to test the coils correctly also the injectors this will show you when and how long the units are firing for. a air leak will also show up as mis-fire faults, IF you can get hold of a diagnostic machine go to live data and check fuel trim this will show up any vaccum leak or overfuelling issues.
  18. you have two stuck together with the 10mm bolt+one seperate for the ecu then on the same loom there is the additional two plugs that connect onto the wiring harness plugs just under the heater matrix box.
  19. did you remove the wiring loom from the ecu as there is some additional plugs white plug and a grey one along with the ecu plugs MAKE sure these plugs are firmly in place and pushed all the way home. apart from the engine light is there any other dash warning lights that are not working?
  20. do you have any back ground on how the fault first started? ie jump start or just did't start one morning.
  21. its possible if you remove the steering column cover and have a look at the ignition switch the alarm will be connected to the ignition circuit between there and the footwell fuse box might be worth bypassing it or just connecting a bridge link to that wire. ALSO the clifford alarm will have its own fuses approx 3 if i'm right.might be worth looking for them aswell
