Caterham R300 or Supra? There's only one way to find out ... FIGHT
RedSZ replied to Chewie's topic in Supra Chat
As Chris and Thorin say, you can get a lot more bang for your buck with Westfields/single seaters / BEC. However, Caterham's do seem to hold their value well and tend to need less fettling. I bought a bog standard caterham 1.6 roadsport back in the autumn for £10K. I've since fitted Toyo 888 and had the geometry sorted. I know Cadwell quite well and took the 7 for a track day in december. It's clear that even with only 110HP the limits are my poor driving ability not lack of power. If i had 20K to spend I'd get a Caterham superlight for 15K and spend the rest on driving tuition!! Good luck with whatever you choose. -
Have you thought of an Elise? For 13K you could get an 03 S2. It would be a very different experience to the Supra but you could smoke most things on track or on B roads. I have size 12 feet and had no problems with the pedals when i had one.

There is no correct name as such. Currently carers and familiies are likely to use "person with a Learning Disability" although this is becoming increasingly replaced with "person with an Intellectual Disability". Over the last 30 years the terms, Mental Retardation, Mental Impairment and Mental Handicap have gradually fallen out of favour.

Cobalt Blue FSH with receipts etc C service (cambelt and waterpump replaced) this year. 30,200 miles only Immaculate condition 3 owners including myself Full details on http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/223972.htm I have had two Supra in the past and might consider a p/x deal where it's your MKIV and cash my way

Looks nice BUT I am wary of Tein suspension. Heard a few horror stories when addicted to this site 2 years ago.

A couple of weeks browsing this site has got me up to date on the latest porn websites etc:p but I'm still pretty clueless on differentiating a good single from a "Happy Shopper" single. And what about late BPU+ VVTi?
-
Is there anything you would recommend on here or Pistonheads up to 14K that looks spot on? I can see that Chiefgroover is selling a single which look to the untrained eye to be almost perfect but 17K is way too much. What else looks good but cheaper? Feel free to post links Thanks

14k should get you a nice Single turbo A nice one as well If you were buying a good Single what are main things to look for? Is it the identity of the mapper or the type of turbo or supporting stuff eg fuelling ? I am totally out of my depth here!

Hi Everyone I've been a member for almost 3 years and during this time I have had an SZ-R then a BPU TT Auto. I sold my TT 18 months ago through boredom:blush: and currently drive an S2 Elise. I have continued to fantasise about returning to the fold and the lure is getting stronger. I've not kept up to date with prices / depreciation etc and need some advice. I had my TT serviced by CW and I continue to be obsessed with my cars being "properly" serviced by specialists, having "proper" tyres etc etc If I sell my Lotus I would have up to £14K to spend. I would want a car that's at least as fast as my old TT, that handles well (been spoilt with the Elise), that's been meticulously maintained, that's not "bling", that has at least UK brakes and that I would not have to spunk a couple of grand on new tyres/ shocks/ remapping etc etc What's out there and what's good!! I see increasing numbers of Big singles but I have no idea which ones are crap and which ones are well built/tuned. Then there's the idea of getting a late VVTi or maybe ....? I'm confused. What do I do!!!

Just noticed that you have to scroll down the web page and click on MX5 guide[OOPS][/OOPS]

RedSZ replied to NIALLRUSSELL_HO's topic in Supra Chat
Nice car. Looks like a full C-West bodykit. Had the same on my old supe and couldn't get up multistorey carparks, over speed humps etc etc. A price worth paying though;) -
Just banged the rest on ebay as there must be someone out there who hoards magazines like me!
-
It's your lucky day Sarjo. I have the July 05 issue with your car in it. (I feel like Cilla Black doing Surprise,Surprise). pm me your address and I'll post it to you.

I've got to make some space at home so these magazines are free to a good home. Best if you collect as they are very heavy. Collection includes every copy of J-Tuner (1-14), 19 copies of Japanese Performance (mixed issues) and 4 copies of Banzai. I live and work in Lincoln / Newark.

Possible reasons for it not selling quickly may include: 1. price of petrol at moment £1.00 + a litre having an impact on all high performance cars 2. advertising on here only limiting potential pool of buyers - try pistonheads for free. 3. smaller jspec brakes might put people off. 4. you highlight the flawed paint but don't provide pictures to illustrate. Good luck with selling but you might have to drop your asking price. Take a deep breath then use the price of similar cars that have actually sold on ebay as your absolute bottom line.

I think it has a lot to do with being able to use 8/10's of the MR2's performance and handling at normal road speeds where as to use the 8/10's of the Supra's performance and handling you really need a track I think that's the main frustration of TT ownership. 95% of the time you are reining the car in and might as well be driving a metro. In a typical week I am lucky if can give it WOT more than once a day. If driving an MR2 / MX5 / elise you could be driving close to the limits of your skills and the car's capabilities for so much longer

I did a trackday at Donington two weeks ago with the Paul Sheard motorsport MX5. It was stripped out and had uprated pads but the standard 1.6 116HP. Best fun i have had in a long time and yes, the handling is superb. I am a crap driver and was getting overtaken by everything. However when the experienced guys were out in it they were keeping up with and overtaking everything out there (F355, Corvette C5, Caymans S, westfields, caterhams, elsise etc etc) except an Ultima. Don't knock it til you've tried it!

Sorry to disturb this brief moment of peace and calm in a religious debate but I can't let Chief's promotion of creation "science" slip by without comment. This pseudo-scientific nonsense is promoted by various protestant fundamentalist groups from which there are bound to be members with some form of academic qualification. However, I could equally find 55+ folk with Phd's who believe in astrology, the mystic powers of standing stones, ley lines etc etc etc. Creationism is NOT supported by the vast majority of scientists and creation "science" is laughable at best. I recommend the teachings of Bill Hicks if anyone wants an erudite critique of christian fundamentalism and its relationship with evolutionary theory.

Just parked next to one of these new Bentley's. What single would be needed and how much would it cost to spank it?
