  1. Hi all, would someone be able to measure as to where the side markets sit on a S2 front bumper please ? I need to cut the necessary holes on mine. Don't need anyone to remove the side marker, just relative to the fitted marker and the bumper is fine. TIA.
  2. Stock cooler is back on for now, although I am missing the pipe from the inlet to the pipe which pops up by the battery (hose 5 as it is affectionately known). So have had to knock something up to tide me over. Typically that is discontinued too Glad I removed the front mount, it was pushing quite badly on the power steering cooler, the pipes were a bit too long for my liking and the general mounting/install of the thing wasn't really where I'd like it to be. So in the absence of a better solution it can be removed for now. Twin side mounted coolers would be a cool setup, assuming thats even viable. But all of this is for another day me thinks ...
  3. Hey @AC93I believe he's got the ones he's had made which is fine, but I was hoping to avoid paying £250 for one if I could !
  4. Only reason I'm.looki g at it is i.am fitting.an.OE bumper and it's in the way in it's current guise ...
  5. I'll be honest it came with the car. It's only running BPU power now so I imagine it's not required. However, future goals would be around 500-600 BHP but that's very low down the list. If an SMIC can handle that then happy days.
  6. Open to options, I was hoping to do a spot of future proofing and since there was a front mount already there I figured I'd use it if I could. Does Chris still make them?
  7. Hi folks, on removing my front bumper I've found I don't actually have a front crash bar (I assume it was binned when the aftermarket bumper went on). My understanding is these are discontinued and we have a couple of aftermarket/replica options but these are pretty expensive from what I can see. As such I was going to look at making one, I just need to confirm some measurements. Does anyone have access to one who wouldn't mind taking me some measurements? Or even better, if there is an OE one someone wants to get rid of let me know ! TIA
  8. Hi folks, As the title suggests - are there any FMICs that clear the OEM front bumper opening AND don't require modification of the undertray ? I already have an FMIC on the car but am trying to size up an OEM bumper to go over it, at the moment from what I can see I will need to chop the bottom of the bumper opening (as this pushes very slightly on the FMIC) and the undertray - it sits quite a bit lower than it. TIA!
  9. Sorry I really should have included it, if you've not had one in bits before it's hard to visualise ! https://www.prospecimports.com/products/supra-front-lip-mounting-plate-set-oem-style?variant=28617846521908
  10. Hi folks, does anyone know if we can buy aftermarket support bars for the OEM splitter. The bits than sandwich the bottom of the bumper to the top of the splitter. I know a place in Australia does them but wondered if anyone made anything similar here.
  11. Hey @riderdoesn't seem to make a difference, it's still a little blury. Any ideas?
  12. Cheers @riderI'll give that a go and see what happens. Any ideas why it might be doing that? Anything that can come loose ?
  13. Hi folks, My rear view mirror vibrates quite a lot under normal driving, is this a normal Supra 'thing' ? If so ... are there any fixes for it ? Cheers in advance
  14. Well, I'm non the wiser, each panel appears to do something different. I think the doors and the boot lid are untouched and they don't appear to bleed any colour. Popped to my local paint shop and chatted with them, the say the 3L2 super red only has one variant, was only for the Supra and is a base/clear system. So maybe I have just uncovered the many, many paint jobs this car appears to have had I've got a paint depth gauge somewhere. Be interested to see how deep it is in parts. And what colour actual 3L2 comes out as vs whatever the skirts are painted as! Thanks again all
  15. So from what I've been reading (and from what my polishing cloth suggests!) the flat colours were a mix of clear/base and single stage. Metallics were clear/base. Certainly the panels which have not been painted on this car appear to be single stage, when polishing my car cloth quickly turns red. Also the paint polishes very easily by hand. Not something a reasonably modern clear/base system would do in my experience. Colour codes also suggest this - Super Red comes in two flavours, one appears to be used with a clear/base system - the other on its own. The plot thickens
  16. Hi folks Does anyone know what type of paint the factory paint is? Curious to know whether it would have been a base/clear system or a celluose type finish where its a gloss colour. Car is '96 and red if that makes a difference.
  17. Hi folks, Anyone care to share a quick pick of their windscreen cowl where the cowl meets the wing, I have a tiny 'cowl side seal' which foolishly I took no pics of before I removed it and can't be sure I've put it back in the right way. For reference this is how I currently have it ...
  18. Have you done as @Scootersuggests and stuck a multimeter on it to measure how many volts the cars pulling when not running vs when it is ? That should give you a good indication as to whether the alternator is doing anything now you've swapped the battery. You should see around 14v when its running. Let us know what numbers you get?
  19. @Delboy52 I'll bacs you the money if thats ok ? Just DM me your details - send em when you're back off holiday save you rushing about. Thanks again !
  20. Hey @Delboy52if you do find a set could you DM me and we can sort out a price? And thanks for the link!
  21. Hi folks I expect I know the answer to this but can anyone tell me where to buy the rear bumper retaining brackets ? They appear to be discontinued so didn't know if someone had a secret stash or was reproducing certain parts. For reference, its the LH/RH bits outlined in the pic below. (5258714030,5258814030)
  22. I'm no expert by any means but have you checked the battery and alternator are well? Those sound like an odd combination of lights and usually odd is grounds/battery power. My other thoughts run to the ECU being poorly, but that's probably a stretch and not something you can easily test for or do anything about. Do you know how to check the codes?
  23. Quarter Glass/Rear Speakers So I thought I'd check to see if the quarter glass had been out any point and see what lived under the rear plastics (as I had to run some cables to the boot anyway) so I removed the remaining interior trim panels over the rear quarters. I was glad I did, both seat belt top bolts were finger tight and the passenger side only in by around 2-3 turns ! The rear quarter glass looked factory, I checked the bead with my borescope just to see it had sealed all around the window and all looked good (no evidence of water inside/or outside the wing) so decided not to go any further. However whilst sniffing around in that corner I found bead of butyl around the plastic splash guard that stops water getting into the drivers sealt belt mechanisim had dried out and crumbled. I gave all of that a good clean up and replaced the butyl, as well as throwing in a spot of sound deadening for good measure. I found a couple of fairly new looking pioneer 17cm speakers in the cages (complete with cross threaded/miss matched screws, I love the 90s) which I figured I'd keep as they were only rear fill speakers anyway and they looked ok. Having got the stereo working (and noted how bad it sounded) I figured I'd take a look at the front speakers and see what horrors awaited. Thankfully the original speaker boxes were still there but unfortunately, so were the original speakers - looking a litte sorry for themselves ... Must be those new first generation bluetooth speakers TB Developments bracket (and port blocking piece of posh metal) ordered as well as some Focal 4" drivers. Hopefully that'll do the trick.
  24. Windscreen So a kind gentleman came and removed/resealed my windscreen on Wednesday. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find folks who will do this with older cars. Like alarms, everyone wants the easy money (cough, Ghost, Pandora) so I phoned about 10 companies (with either no reply or they just wouldn't touch it) before I remembered one I used by proxy for my Subaru when it was in for paint. Anyway, the screen came out in around 60 seconds (from my previous expierence, this is usually not the case!), the chap reckoned it was likely fitted by a body shop or similar; evidenced by the inconsistent bead and the fact that multiple parts of the screen had little or not sealant touching them. The roof appears to have been painted (I assume after some bonnet/roof contact) and the screen was put in on top of this. The old screen came out with most of the paint inside of the frame attached to it so I don't rate the paint/primer they used in any case Anyway, post removal You can see the bit nearest the tweeter is looking a bit sad, like it's been the conduit for quite a bit of water over the years. Perfect placement of that hole so that it leaks water all over the junction boxes below and ECU ... And the screen itself, immediately after it was removed, if you zoom in a bit you can clearly see where the selant is missing ... Anyway, after a brief tidy up, some primer and a fat bead of sealant the original screen (and rescued outer trim, highly unusual!) the screen was back in. I then made a brew and sat pouring water all over the car with a hosepipe for about 30 minutes. Not a drop in the car ... hopefully it stays that way !
