  2. The First 2009 Fairmile Meet Saturday, 4th April 2009 at 1.30 to 2.00PM The Fairmile Portsmouth Road, Fairmile, Cobham, Surrey, KT11 1BW It's going to be Hot and Sunny... just right for a nice pub-grub and a bit of fun in the sun ! For those of you who don't know The Fairmile, it's a big pub with a huge green out front that we can park on. There's the usual tables outside to you can eat & drink whilst keeping an eye on your beloved (Supra obviously) We have also been known to do some daft games on the green as well, so bring a pound coin with you (you may win a nice bottle) - no drink, just a nice bottle It's only five minutes from J10 of the M25 so can be easily got to from the M4 / M3 / M25. Fun from last year: June http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=o6y6LCF7Xjk April March Come on chaps (and Chapessess) lets make it a good one. Hope to see you there G
  3. Very sad news. Thoughts are with the family. G & S
  4. Sensible (and affordable) 600 Honda
  5. Going to look at bikes this morning - look, not buy... must not be tempted until I decide exactly what is right and sensible ! The trouble is with bikes as (like fast cars) you can be easily tempted as it's a 99% emotional purchase. I keep repeating the mantra ... MUST NOT LOOK AT BIG RED DUCATI'S - MUST NOT LOOK AT BIG RED DUCATI'S etc etc.. G
  6. From the little I understand, there seeems to be one adcantage of the new two part test. The first off road skills will be cheap and the on road will be the expensive part - so if you fail the off road, you can take it again cheaply. At the moment, one dab of the foot on the floor on a U turn and you have lost £80 for the entire test. As I understand it I'm still wrecked, stayed up unitil after 1am looking at bikes on the net and woke up at 6am feeling excited... ffs, I'm to old for this little sleep PS... did have much fun waking Soo up at 6.30 wearing my bike gloves - she always wanted to wake up next to a Biker Dude
  7. Somehow seemed bigger and more macho then... But my first "proper British" bike, complete with oil leak
  8. Sorry Chaps (and Tigger), the course came up after I signed up so i was in Salisbury on Saturday... Linky: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?p=2315678#post2315678 Will catch you at the next one, glad you had a good time. G
  9. I've been yearning for another bike every summer since I sold my last one (BSA Starfire 250) in 1976 Decided to bite the bullet, become a "born again biker" and get me a donercycle before the new harder / more expensive bike test comes in next month, so booked a four day intensive course covering basic bike training (CBT) plus conversion to proper bike test (DAS) which will give me access to any bike unrestricted FOUR DAYS OF HELL... four nights of little sleep, weird dreams and waking up sweating with thought of mesing my U turn up and failing my test. I completly underestimated how much you forget in 33 years in the way of general bike handling, and had four days of jerky starts, juddering stops and wobbly cornering. Took my mock test yesterday which I failed three times over, including managing to mount the pavement on the dreaded U turn. Big day this morning and was resigned to keep calm and be chilled - worked like a dream and passed easily with only two minors (allowed up to 16 and still pass). Delighted and massivly relieved that I didn't let myself or my trainer down. The ride back from the test centre was brilliant, no eyes following my every (jerky) move and no radio in my ear reminding me to do (yet another) check backwards Not sure what bike to start with yet, but thinking of a sensible 650 / 750ish sports jap screamer. Work my way up to a big Ducati Looking forward to a nice sleep tonight Biker Ged Best quote from yesterday: "GERRY... GET THE BIKE OFF THE PAVEMENT" G
  10. Thanks Andy... Right number, I was out until 4.00 and not able to answer the mobile. Cheers G
  11. I'm sure JamieP would hate this idea, but when we had a wooden garage burn down we replaced it with a Compton bricktastic one. http://www.comptonbuildings.co.uk/Concrete+Garages/Premier+Brick+Garages+Range/Garages.chtml?intProductID=26 It was cheaper than wood !, lots cheaper than brick and put up in a morning ! From the road it looks brick and the warranty is 100% (they replaced the whole roof after about three years as it cracked. Think they do lean too's as well. Cheers G
  12. Well done mate... brilliant London next ???
  13. Looking like we keep it on Saturday's, for the time being at least. Next decision is whether to hold it on it's usual Satuday in April which (I'm fairly sure) is Easter Weekend.
  14. Can't come and play now - sorry guys (and Tigger) If all goes well I'll let you know why on Thursday, if all doesn't go well, I'll just quietly let the subject drop forever Have a great meet, hope the sun shines on you. Next one is due on Bank Holiday weekend and we are free at the mo Cheers G
  15. Just added poll... Please see; http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=179576
  16. Talking to a number of members about the monthly SEM at the Fairmile Cobham. The numbers were down towards the end of last year and we wondered if a different day may be better for everybody ? At the moment it's the first Saturday in the month at 1.30-2.00pm. Would a Sunday or evening be better ? Please see the attached poll. For those who haven't been before, it's at Cobham Surrey, about five minutes from J10 M25. Big pub, huge grassed area for parking etc etc. Would be good to get it up and running for the summer...

  18. I agree that it would be a shame if it was finished for good. I called in there for a lunch two weeks ago when I was in the area and remembered the fun we had there (even when it wasn't sunny : ) I've no idea why it wasn't more popular - decent grub, decent outside area, great parking, easy to get to ! There must be loads of members within a 30 minute ride, not including the Yokels from the West Perhaps a meet every other month may be better rather than monthly, there seems so much to fit in during the summer. I would happily organise another,if there was a few of us that were interested (but I'd be happy for a "local" to take over as well)
  19. I think you doing a Calendar is a really excellent idea Put me down for one life size PS... Does it have to have cars on as well ! G x
  20. Do like the Tourettes one Many (many) years ago I worked for a record company and used to get freebies including T shirts from Stiff Records (Ian Dury) The best had in bold on it " IF IT AINT STIFF - IT AINT WORTH A FCUK". Wore it once but then chickened out and gave it away My current fav (I'm sure you have seen it about) says on it: "Well it's not going to suck itself" Think my son-in-law has nicked that one from me - no too worried ! G
