    Pads

Got the little bxxxxxds out after a little persuasion and lookin back through previous threads it would seem I need the following, (correct me if I'm wrong) Sliding pin bush 2: 47769-50020 Sliding pin bush 2: 47760-50010 Sliding pin bootx2: 47775-50010 Is it worth buying new sliders (see attachment)and what is the best method of cleaning the original sliders and housing as there is a slight bit of rust visible inside. The pistons are fine so I dont really need the caliper refurb kit

    Pads

Right, seperated the caliper on the above mentioned hot side, and the two bits that I assume are the sliders ( see attachments and correct me if i'm wrong) will not move at all. I assume that these must be taken out. I tried to pull at these but nothing happens should I keep going or take both sides to a garage to be replaced?

    Pads

It is a 2 pot j spec, I put in new pads to see what occured and when I took it for a test drive that side got very hot and when I stopped it was smoking could this still be a slider problem if so how do I replace these. I tried doing a search for a caliper diagram but could nt find one so if anyone can post one it would be appreciated. Cheers Dave

    Pads

Changing my front pads at the moment and have notice that the left pads both have about 3mm left but on the right one pad has about 3mm and the other has none whatsoever (hence the grinding I heard yesterday) anyone know why this is? (the discs are in good shape) Cheers Dave

    Oil

A friend of mine wants to do an oil change on his R33 Skyline but does not know what is the best oil to use for this i.e. brand and viscosity any help welcome Cheers Dave
  17. Well I just got it back together and turned the key with a look of fear on my face and it only started. It still sounds like there is some damp about as it was misfiring except for a few seconds on the road test. But a lesson for all of us taking your time over things in the first place will save a lot of grief later on. Right time to get back under the bonnet and get it running how it should (may pick some lottery numbers as well ) Cheers again guys
  18. Cheers Ian you have certainly put my mind at rest. I've said it before and I'll say it again the people on this board are the most helpful I have ever come across and they don't mind helping the amateurs who like to have a go themselves. All this for a tenner a year Bargain!!!!!. I will now go and put it back together (fingers crossed!) Cheers guys
  19. Update: Just removed rest of intake manifold (what a bas###d job) and the kitchen roll seemed to come out in the two bits as it went in, though I presume I cannot put it back together without new gaskets to try it out I will have to wait and see. It does'nt look like it went in internally, or am I just trying to reassure myself!
  20. I just removed the throttle body and plugs as I had water around the area after cleaning the engine. I removed the plugs and turned the engine over, the only problem is that I left some kitchen roll in the inlet manifold (to keep it dust free) which got sucked in. I took half of the inlet manifold off and can see it in the part attatched to the engine but am having difficulty getting it out any ideas or is this a big bad job. I am hoping I can take the last bit of inlet manifold off and remove and all will be well!!! Feel free to insult me as I deserve it.
  21. May not get to this one car still not working
  22. I always wanted to get an A1 plate but thanks to my parents not giving me a middle name had trouble adding three letters to it so I came up with an x to put on it so I now have A1 X DF. The good news is since I bought it B1 XDF has doubled in price so it could be an investment as well.
