Sitting here watching tv and all of a sudden it makes a screeching sound and turns off. It is on standby and when I try to switch it on I get the same screech and I can see sparks inside, it smells a bit too! Can I go and get a nice new plasma:)

Yep the battery light comes on after a while when the engine is running and is on when the ignition is on before staring it.

This was my first thought but it has been fine up until the lights were left on all day.

My friends volvos battery ran right down at the weekend so we jump stared it and while attatched to another car it runs fine. Shortly after removing the jump leads it cuts out and wont start again unless re jumped. With the headlights on whilst revving the engine there is no change in brightness of the bulbs, which made me think altenator probs, but now I am thinking its just the battery not holding the charge what do you guys think?

We lost our last dog all of a sudden in similar circumstances but took comfort in the fact he did'nt suffer for a long period. Still very upsetting though and as dog lovers our thoughts are with you mate.

You will get pulled at some point Mine is A1 XDF But I have it spaced A1 X DF been pulled once and told to get it sorted, more to do with the letter sizing than spacing though.
