  1. Good question this & quite a big decision. I came from the "old Ford" performance club e.g. rs turbos & Sierra/Escort Cosworths. No I'm not a Chav I bought the cars because they performed well & actually sold my Escort Cosworth for almost double what my Supe cost & I bought at the wrong time compared for what they are going for now. I never for one moment thought I would ever own an auto car, I always thought as them being for fat overpaid directors in BMW's who couldn’t drive. I was looking for a manual TT for 6 months & found 7 in total, which I test-drove. I'm a very fussy person & they just wasn't right e.g. condition of the cars or weirdo looking owner. In the end I gave in to looking at an auto TT that was owned by a lady owner, I couldn’t believe how well it drove & was instantly hooked. I thought I was giving it large down the long twisty Country lanes when I test-drove it. She kept saying go faster go for it "wait till the second turbo comes on" When I let her take over I couldn’t believe how fast an auto could shift & bought the car. End of the day I really like the auto for performance & comfort, I don't think I would change it & don’t ever miss a manual gearbox. Maybe it was to do with the fit blonde bird that sold me the car, I don’t know? Aw fark maybe It was!
  2. That was moi, TRD Spoiler at the rear though:) Were you In a Supe? Didn’t see any others Haven’t been down there in ages, don’t think I will be either. It's all Fiesta boys in Tracksuits, I even saw someone in a shell suit! Man that’s bad.
  3. Thats a bargain at that price, I just sold my old set of these on E-bay for £580.00 & the guy paid to ship them to pakistan !
  4. Hi Mate, I'm still after this. Let me know how you want paying I can do a bank transfer today if you want £130.00 inc postage ok ? Cheers Steve
  5. Cheer's pal, I can’t wait to see her finished. Hopefully have her home next week. I can’t even remember what it feels like to drive a supe it's been that long! Just waiting on wheels from Dusty to finish it off, those white ones on now don’t drop at all. Don’t want to swap for them CCW's do you Chris
  6. That would be mine Matey, Cant wait to get her back. Going to have a look next week when I get a chance, Looked liked scrap metal last time I looked. Totally stripped naked. Was inspired by your paintjob TRD btw thanks for the low bank balance I'll stick some Pics up when she's finished, GVN are doing a top job & their attention to detail is class.
  7. Lucky sod, Most would pay to have that taken off. He should be happy its been stolen off his car & found a new home on some Nova Only jokeing, Ill keep a eye out down MCDonalds !
  8. I fitted my set last night; I’m disappointed in their performance too. Took the car out tonight & I could hardly notice any difference from a driving view. When you look at the light’s you can obviously see they are HID from outside the car & have made an improvement in the aesthetics of the lights, but don’t seem to give us much vision as they should. I got stopped at the light alongside a BMW with HID’s & looking ahead his seemed to light up the road ahead a fair amount more than mine. I’ll post up a pic of mine tomorrow.
  9. Tell me about it, theirs some seriously messed up people out there. Where I live some nutter this morning decided to go out and stab 7 people randomly for absolutely no reason, In the space of about 1 hour he just drove round stabbing people & getting back in his car. 2 people died as a result of his craziness & the rest are seriously injured. What is going on??? The sick thing is that made my stomach turn is my girlfriends mum walks down the same road to the catch the train to the city, the nutter's first victim was walking down this same road at 8.20 when he was killed...20 mins later!! The police have now caught this sicko. Yesterday about 10mins down the road a shopkeeper was killed after chasing two guys who nicked two bottles of vodka from his shop. Killed for two bottles of vodka!!! Then another few minutes from there down the road there was a murder? & The next road from along from the murder their was an armed robbery in a shop. I'm actually used to the yellow signs the police put up now, they seem to be down almost every road. Time to move out of North London I think.
  10. I got a set of the 100mm Ring Angel lights for my Bomex, Got mine from Ebay for £50.00. They come with their own switch so you can turn just the outer ring on for an Angel eye effect or turn the driving lamp on too. They fit perfect & come with all the wiring, look really well made. You will need to make a bracket up though.
  11. Thanks asuparcar for the link, I tried what I could in that fault procedure. I ended up resetting the ECU went for a quick spin & it hasn’t showed up again, noticed my brake fluid was low so that’s properly why the red warning light was coming on under hard braking & acceleration. Ill try the engine diagnostic port again in a few days to see if the code comes back. Car feels more eager and responsive since resetting the ECU; I actually lost traction when the 2nd turbo came on a dry road!
  12. I'm getting the red warning triangle come on under boost for a few sec's then go off, This happens also if I brake hard. I done the engine diagnostics test & it threw back code 14 - Ignition signal circuit. Has anyone had this code? If so what did you do to rectify the problem. I had a quick glance round the plugs & ECU and general connections I could see on the Ignition loom but can’t see anything lose or damaged. The car runs fine, just keep getting the annoying warning light flashing on Any help would be mucho appreciated Cheers, Steve
  13. Cheers lads, Think Ill go for them then The rims are about a year old and I dont think their's a mark on them def no kerbing tyres are sweet at the front & about 50% worn on the rears. Dont like the idea of them being heavy though spent enough makeing her faster seems a bit silly to bolt on a set of heavy 19" rims now must be the Max power guy in me comeing out. Michel those OZ supraleggras look well trick and were my third choice of rim but I just love the look of the blitz rims & being the pimp that I am Im going for them. Maybe a illogical decision in terms of handling & power to weight ratio but hey its only a supra
  14. Hey Guys, Whats the going price for a set of used 19"Blitz Technospeeds with tyres? Been offerd a set for 2 k does this sound like a fair price ?
  15. Blue smoke on idle, no1used to spin fine even up to the day I took it back. Never herd any noises from it. I thought it would just be a seal that was slightly cracked or something. I had problems with no 2 not coming on song & thought this would be the problem turbo but I’m told no 2 is fine and the problem lies with no 1 turbo (actuator related). I had less than 1600 miles on the turbos & no1 boost was set at 0.8 bar.
  16. Terry Mine are the most recent set of failed turbos that have gone back. Could have been anytime in the last six weeks.
  17. The last set of turbos that went back were mine !! I was only told half of the story and that was "The turbo builder won’t warrantee the turbo because the actuator failed and will not repair/replace it" Wasn't told the actuators were then tested afterwards & were fine!!!!!!!!!!! So it appears the actuators did not cause this failure and the turbo builders just using this as an excuse. Meanwhile a new hybrid has been bought off him to get my car on the road & I’m supposed to foot the bill. All I can say is George you can stick your turbos where the sun doesn’t shine m8. Ill be ripping these hybrids out & putting a single on as soon as funds allow. Sorry to post such a negative 1st post but I needed to know what the situation was with these turbos. Don’t get me wrong, I think hybrids are a great idea & i'm sure theirs plenty of well built good ones out there but this George the professional turbo builder is obviously having some issues with regards to how his building them at the moment. I’m not going to be a happy bunny when I go to collect my car this weekend to say the least, have a lot of issues I need to address with my mechanic.
  18. Thanks for your posts guys - With regards to the VSV bypass modification I ran the car in stock sequential mode 99.9% of the time I had a problem with the 2nd turbo (when in stock sequential mode) not coming online at all. I quickly addressed the problem and booked it into my mechanics this was at about 1400 miles on the hybrids. A VSV was replaced I was told the old one was proberly sticking and that the 2nd turbo was now coming online fine. I was also told the car was smoking a little more than it should be on idle and that it could be a turbo problem maybe the carbon seals and if it continued to get worse book it straight back in and the turbos would have to be checked. On the way home when I hit the motorway & tried 2nd turbo & guess what still nothing but I did start to notice a little smoke. I called my mechanic the following day and re-booked 1. Because the 2nd turbo still wouldn’t spool up 2. Was worried about the smoke Before I took it back I bypassed 2 VSV's EGCV & IACV I did this to check if 2nd turbo would come online (To see if it was a VSV problem) This is the only time I changed from the stock sequential system. At no time have my turbos ever over boosted. People run theirs supras in TCC all the time my turbo problems started way before this. I know of a guy who run his j-spec with ceramic turbos all the time like this & has had no probs with his turbos in the last year. The fault lies with the turbo/actuator nothing to do with the TTC I wish it was.
  19. Thanks Darren you just confirmed what I thought. Everybody’s pointing the finger at each other & not taking responsibility for the turbo failure. (Especially the turbo builder) I've had a few PM's about this so it seems their clearly there is a problem with these turbos. What I can’t get believe is that even if the actuator on theses hybrid turbos could cause such an expensive piece of equipment to fail why leave an old one on it? Why is this not re-newed it’s no good just testing an old one to see if it’s ok & just leaving it on. A new one should be fitted when the turbos re-furbished I've been told these can’t be bought from Toyota but surely someone could fabricate one or use one from another turbo manufacture. It just seems that when you buy hybrid turbos its luck of the draw if you get good actuators or not. How was your problem resolved Darren did the turbo builder replace the turbo under warranty in the end?
  20. Hi m8, My car has had the following mods done to it - Stage 3 hybrid turbos Full decat Blitz Nur-spec exhaust 130 walbro fuel pump (12 volt all the time) FSE fuel regulator Blitz de-limiter HKS FCD Blitz SBC ID boost controller & powermeter HKS BOV HKS R type intercooler HKS cold spark plugs HKS air filter Greedy boost gauge Car was set up on a rolling road afer 1000 carefull miles of running in turbos at 0.9 bar max. Oil was changed also at this point. fueling was good, max boost was set at 1.3 bar never been above that as was warned not to on my standard injectors. I wouldnt mind if I blew them up going crazy at 1.6 bar or something and really booting it but I didnt. I run the turbos in carefully and never really got the chance to go silly in it I only use the car at the weekends. So is this a common problem with Hybrid turbos ? Did the others that have gone wrong have actuator problems?
  21. Hey guys, I have to say what a quality site you have here, been cruising round for a while with the search button and found some real good info on the supra which will definitely come in handy. I’m not a total newbie to the supra, had the car about 7 months & I’ve made quite a few mods to the engine including stage 3 hybrids turbos which I have a few questions about….. I had the hybrids fitted in January this year after the j-spec ones failed (a few weeks after buying the car) seemed a logical upgrade better spec & steel blades hence being stronger than the ceramics or so I thought till turbo no1 blew up again! The first turbo has recently failed and after being in the garage 5 weeks the guy that built the turbos has told my mechanic the actuator had burst caused a pipe to leak & overspun the turbo causing a bearing to come loose & destroy most of the internal housing. 1. Does this sound feasible & has anyone else had this problem with their hybrid turbos ?? 2. I thought the actuator was part of the turbo unit itself is this not the case? 3. Is it true you cannot purchase new actuators separately? 4. Would you expect this to be fixed under warrantee? The turbo builder has told the mechanic he will not warrantee the turbos because the actuator is at fault & caused the turbo failure. The mechanic who originally got the turbos for me and installed them has himself had to buy a new turbo unit off the turbo builder and wants to bill me for it! To say i'm gutted is an understatement 1,600 miles on the turbos and this happens.
