  1. Hi people Firstly festive tidings!!!! Secondly, I need help - big time!! My car decided to set itself on fire today in the car park at work. Got a call to say my car was smoking!!! Came out to find flames coming out of the drivers side wheel arch!!! Luckily had a fire extinguisher and managed to put it out hopefully before too much damage has been done and then disconnected the battery. The car is a 6speed TT Dec 1993 model. All of the wiring in and around the drivers side wing seems to be knackered. Will try and post pics tonight. This seems to be where the fire started. As you can imagine I am a little peeved but also relieved as the situation could have been a whole lot worse as I had just filled that bad boy to the brim with Optimax!!! What I now need to know, and would greatly appreciate your help with is a rough estimate as to how much it is going to cost to fix the wiring. It literally just seems to be in and around that wing. The fire brigade seem to think it wont cost that much, but they are paid to put out fires and not re-wire cars so I'm not gonna get my hopes up!!! Best and worse case scenarios are all welcome. Also does anybody know of a good person to carry out this work within the west yorkshire area? Sorry for the long winded post. Still a little shaken up! Cheers J4CK50N
  2. bet the electricity company is rubbing its hands with glee!!! :D
  3. Ah well #26 isn't too bad if you think of the company it is keeping!! Much higher than the Ferrari F40!! The reason no-one will have heard of the reviewer is because he gives sh*t reviews on Men & Motors! I dont really recall any grounds for his statements. Just random waffling!! Just my 2p worth!
  4. 88.9 pence per litre in Wakefield. Highway bloody robbery!!!
  5. Very Funny!!!! Felt sorry for the presenter!!! Vintage JC
  6. Yeah mate, I think it looks pretty good! Something a bit different.
  7. I tried L & V, got three different answers on three seperate occassions. I think alot of the time it depends who you speak to. Oh and the reason i tried three times was coz people kept telling me that 'it depends who you speak to!' In the end just insured with someone else Cheers J4CK50N
  8. Yeah I get it quite alot too. Quite flattering really!! I have also found that I dont get as many dirty looks in this one as opposed to the other performance cars that I have owned!! Cheers J4CK50N
  9. Slow Dog Cheers mate Are we talking about over a prolonged period of time that this will happen, coz if so, I will hopefully have another one by then! Cheers Martyn

  11. cheers mate!!!! So now its superglued back down it should be fine???? I dont think it will be totally air tight coz couldn't get to all of it as I didnt want to snap it off! Thanks a lot for the quick reply!! Feel much better now. Thought knowing my luck it would be expensive!! Thanks Martyn
  12. Ive broke something within the engine bay and dont even know what it is!!! I have taken a couple of pics. Feel free to help me as I need the car 2moz preferably and need to know what ive done http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/supraengine/images/1-picture1.jpg? http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/supraengine/images/1-picture2.jpg? Its one of the nipples that the pipe goes on to. It didnt snap off totally, but enough. I have superglued it back down very carefully. The reason it happened was because there was a funny ticking noise coming from it and i thought maybe something was escaping coz the pipe wasnt tight and as i went to check the damned thing came off. The thing is i need to know if it is safe to take to work And if i do that i wont mess anything up All help appreciated Cheers Martyn
  13. From cold it is fine, pretty much as you have described. It is just when it is up to temperature, both water and oil. It seems to just sit at around 1000 rpm. It really is quite odd. The car seems to be behaving exactly as is always has. This will be my last post until I can pay for my account as I dont have paypal!! Hopefully the info I have given will be sufficient, sorry if it seems a little hazy - stuff like this isn't my specialist area. Thanks J4CK50N
  14. Yes mate, It seems to be idling a little higher than it should once it is warmed up. Thanks J4CK50N
  15. Hiya Sorry for asking but I have tried search and am not having much luck!! I have been looking around the site for a while and have found it useful. I have a problem with the idling on my Mk IV Supra J-Spec TT 6 speed. When the car is sat in traffic after warming up the revs seem to sit at around the 1k mark. When it is warming up and just pottering around it seems fine. Mods include oil cooler, FMIC, induction kit, decat (both) full system, FCD, boost running at 1.1bar. Hope thats all the info needed, but if anything else is needed just let me know! Cheers J4CK50N Editted because I can't spell the difference between 4 & 6!!
  16. Alrite mate Sussed it then. When I had the car, it used to scare the bejesus out of people. I even convinced one of our receptionists that it drove itself too!!! She once went to the bathroom and I nipped outside, turned it round and she thought it had done it itself ready for the journey home! PRICELESS!! Glad its all sorted!! That Supra is a thristy bugger!! Enjoying it though!! Cheers J4CK50N
