  1. Hi Everyone. This is coming over on the boat right now, but I dont recognise the manifold on the air intake/turbo side of things... I need some help and thought some of you guys my know this stuff by sight. It's running; HKS fcon V, not sure if pro or s (anyone tell me?) HKS EVC (new style) FMIC and the auction sheet said something we translated (perhaps very poorly) as; HKS T7-7-7. Now I have found a vague refrence to an HKS T7 turbo on a numpty website somewhere, but no official ref from HKS, so I think this may be something completely different. Anybody see anything obvious? Oh, and thanks for noticing the stylish steering wheel. Anyone got anything tasteful to put in it's place?
  2. How's this as sign of the nice area in which I live - Coming home with the chinki on the passenger seat (sweet and sour not the human kind) I see 5 kids looking at me at the edge of the 30 to 60 limit. As I get closer one kid actually pushes another into the road, falling over, right in my path! Full brakes - nice hot dry day, stopped about 5 meters away, but I woundn't have liked to have been in anything else but a sup with F1-s, Kids start fighting, I rescue the chinki from the footwell and life goes on. As they say - it's all a bit of fun till someone looses an eye!
  3. Yeah, that was classic - at least they tried to use the same coloured tape as the bodywork. If I hadn't driven all the way there (and the place is about as inacessible as they get) I'd have spent my whole time laughing. There was also an evo with the wing-miror missing and the bare wires hanging out of the casing - they should have used the gaffer tape on the bare wires instead! I saw some cars there that I wouldn't have dared turn over for fear of exploding. I'd have had him start it and I'd be behind a wall on one leg with fingers in ears!
  4. I've been there twice in the last few months and every time I go I still can't believe the cars look so bad. cars with paint jobs sanded with 40 grit paper and then sparyed over raw, just increadible. I saw one sup with a busted out passenger airbag - it had been fixed back in place by wire, stitched through the dashboard and through the cover, just hanging like a flap. For someone not 110% clued up on everything sup (and that includes me) I'd say the cars were a potential diasaster in the waiting. They don't really say much when asked questions. I guess the less said the better as far as they are concerned! After I bought my first sup I saw some single T78's go through for 11 and 12. Maybe there will be a bargin going through there one day - although all the good evos are expensive, so probably not. People do buy them though, although many have been there for 4 months +.
  5. I have to say that Jurgen is the most professional, intelectually alert and jolly chap at a sober 3am in the morning. I think I would be more along the lines of "well, do you wan it or not?" Well worth the comission - I highly recommend him to anyone think of doing anything similar - it's a lot more fun, with a lot more choice, and dare I say cheaper... Cheers Jurgen.
  6. Yeah I know, I had thought of that - Terry said the 5 is a bit troublesome, the pro is good, I'll have to see what it is, but at the end of the day I can get it sorted. I know TDI work with the HKS. Good excuse for a road trip!
  7. Nah, I don't think jurgen will, no one does...do they? I'm thinking of letting terry at it when it comes, see what the cost of putting a sensible single on it may be... depends what it is like in real life - seems strange to have evc and fcon-v on it with stock turbos.... My last car was never remapped - it should be ok on optimax before I decide what to do with it.
  8. That's what I like to hear!!!! 450 for the wheels on ebay... Did you hear that Jurgen!!? I've hit the jackpot Anyway - there may be some bits and pices up for sale. I have to put a roll cage in it, to keep the family happy, (I'll post a picture of my old sup - it's not a pretty sight, or rather it was until last november) and the wing is up for grabs, possibly even the bonnet if it is a bit too much to much in real life - never can tell until you see it in the flesh!
  9. Thanks for that, It's what I've heard. Having had a scoob explode on me at 38k I am hyper sensitive to the subject - and one of the reasons I got itnto soops in the first place.. Thanks for the info, .. appreciated!
  10. Thanks for that, I've seen the compression testers, I may invest in one, but here is the obvious next question - what are acceptable values for a TT!!
  11. Thanks for that, the link is a real resource for buying, but more importantly does anyone have any real reasons for not buying a high miler - any horror stories out there - or words from the wise...? Do you traders have any reason for not buying over 80k? do they go pop at all with age?
  12. Hi Everyone. Had one sup, looking for another. Have been told that TT's are very strong, and have been very impressed by my last, but my question is do these things have any specific issues when they reach high miles (80,000 +)? I have friends running big turbos on high mileage and they say they are extremely stong cars - no problems. Should I be worried buying a Sup with 90k on the clock and expecting years more trouble free use or is there more to it than that? If I am looking at a high miler is there anything serious or specific to check, aside service and expecting turbos to go one day..? all comments greatly received! Mike
  13. Just read through that thread, thanks scooter for pointing it out, no I hadn't seen it, very informative. Sounds like a refurb on the rear shocks may be the best option if it is possible in the UK. I really don't fancy stripping one of those thing to investigate, but the noise is annoying - kind of spoils the car, which is a fantastic piece of kit otherwise. I'm a convert... Mike
  14. Thanks for that guys, I could get a hold of the rear wheel and physically feel movement in the control arm, and having them replaced made so much difference to the precision of the handling. I've always suspected the shocks, I heard you can get the Apexi N1's rebuilt, does anyone know if there is a UK service point? and I also suspected the top joint, that seems to be closest to the noise, maybe I could try a hard rubber lining between joint and body. I need to raise the ride height a bit too - I tried to get it on a ramp to have the camber and alignment checked and there was no chance! Maybe a different ride height would help cure the noise too. Thanks for you info,
  15. Hi Everyone, Newbie question, I've searched for an answer but and getting conflicting reports. Running a J ppsec '96 manual and I'm getting a lot of noise from the rear suspension. Just had the link arms changed, which made a massive difference to the handling, but didn't help the knocking over rough ground. Although the car is low milage, it is running Apexi N1 suspension, which is firm to say the least. I've been told that you can't change the bushes - have to change the whole arm units, is this true? Can you get new bushes, are they easy to fit? help needed please! Mike
  16. I've had mine off an on trying to get it to fit over an intercooler and it ssems to attatch only at ther front, just under the bonnet and with two more screws on the sides. seems a lot easier to deal with than the stock one that looked like it has 20 attatchments all over it. should be easy!
