Not at all, box is fine, no issues at all.... I'm hoping... It's a ferra metallic fella, not sure the make, but it's been silent until now. A little grabby but I can drive it smooth as silk with practice. Thing is that the clutch was silent.. now it's noisy which suggests that something is about to let go, and vibrations through the clutch pedal is a bad sign in my book!! lol I fancy a new selector fork in the box as well, so I may have it all opened up and sorted... Terry bent the selector fork on a strip run, and the stick has never been as precise as it could be.. hope we can get some spares for the getrag.

That's good to hear. I'm familiar with the box, had a good look round, but appearances, I have learned, can often be deceptive!! Good stuff.. lol I guarantee I'll spray it on the clutch face.

No noise at idle... when the car gets warm I get an intermediate rattle or knocking, noise changes when I depress the clutch but it is still there when in and out. I had thought release bearing, but as the noise is there in and out it may not be; however I feel the clutch is adjusted poorly, so it may be still touching the bearing when the clutch is up. could be flywheel (stock on a ferra metallic clutch) or release bearing How hard is it to get this clutch apart? Is it something a half decent toolbox can do? or is it a Gearbox out job?

I was sold it as a TO4Z.. I'll have to change it when it's removed and sent back to the supplier. As far as I can see everything is the same aside the label on the compressor housing. The older to4z's have the same anti surge porting as these. See what my supplier says.

Boost solenoid, as suggested.,.. I'm using it on the T67, but it's a common part... In all honesty I put my lack of enthusiasm for this turbo down to the 1.00 divided housing. I had a 4088R with a .95 divided housing, it felt the same as the to4. I'll ask the guy I bought it from for clarification. If it had a .8 - .85 non divided housing I'd say it would feel the same as the T67, although it's noisy with that TO4 Z whistle. Exhaust housings make or break these turbo's and they all use the same garrett cartridges (although the gt4088R is the only rogue).

new install; HKS T04Z from a T67DBB first impressions

I'd say that on my setup I was hitting 1.4 bar by around 4.3 maybe in 3rd, dropping to 4 on 5th. Need to keep my eyes looking where I am going as I don't have the multitasking ability to do both! car has been in the garage for a while and i'm convinced the tyres have gone off. RLTC is getting a workout trying to clean them up -

Sounds like and interesting car to be fair... I'm actually impressed, as I have heard about people using nox to spool, but never met anyone who has done it. I could get 2 bar out of mine at 2.5k... with some semtex in the the manifold -

It's a bit rich coming from me who started this thread with a complete lack of data aside my bum dyno, but unless your friends car is using two rb26's on the same turbo I'm calling that full boost at 3k sounds very fishy!!! (unless full boost is 0'5 bar). would love to see the dyno though... if it's true I'll quite happily have a large slice of humble pie, and be so gobsmacked I doubt I'd be able to chew.. -

True the liners love em, but full boost by 3000 rpm, that's had to believe - and 600hp is a lot for a liner. I had an R34 and it's stockers would barely spool to that and it only made 400!! My 35R was full boost by 3.8 maybe in a big gear, but this to4 is unimpressive. I'll run it some more and change back, then I'll know for sure. -

True, numbers are always very popular.. I wish it could but Vpro will only log with the dealer softwear. I had Ryan on the phone, it's tempting to go solaris, as it does more than Vpro, and Ryan is on hand, although cheaper to swap than I thought the Vpro is still going strong. Maybe when I sell this amazing T04Z for mega bucks I can afford it! -

I get a stick for not getting it remapped every time, and I know it should... be to get the best from the setup, yet I have used 4 tubs on the vpro now and it adapts fine, Is your Vpro is using the same mao as mine? If so it's creator sits in Canada and is willing to come over and tweak it for a price. I have spoken to him a few times and he has upgrades to the original program, but they would need the next model Vpro... it all starts getting expensive... The Program is set to adjust fuelling 90% of it's map figure, which is pretty radical, as I found when my o2 sensor cracked off. It leaned out to the point it would barely run. I'm waiting for Ryan to get a Vpro hack, Essentially my fuelling is spot on and I have det monitors in the car which are fine. Im sure we could get it better, but I had no issues whatsoever. No det, egt low, throttle response good for such a big turbo - a lot better with the cast manifold too. The best analogy I can give is that it felt like the engine was trying to breathe through a straw. There were fractional spooling time gains in low rpm swith the '68 coming to pressure faster, ie put your foot down in 6th and the spool would build slightly quicker, but once at pressure the '86 had more, even at low revs... At the top end of the upper gears it was a different car. When I bought the T67 I had the forethought to buy the '68, '86 and '95 divided housings. I never got to the biggest housing as the '86 I felt was the answer. True it's slightly slower to spool, but only fractionally, and as soon as you push up the rev range the power increase (I felt) was dramatic. egt's dropped as well. I was running 1.5 bar and the car felt alive by comparison. With the CW suspension and geo I doubt the chassis could comfortably take much more. On the '68 the power didn't really fade like it did on the GT35R '68 housing combo, but certainly didn't climb with the revs.. the '86 housing felt like it had new lungs above 5k. It was a lot more powerful and ran cooler, a gentle power gain right up to the redline. When I bought the GT4088R it came with a '96 divided housing and the lag was laughable. True it went like the clappers when spooled, but you could make a cup of tea between gear changes. A smaller housing helped a lot but then it pushed the egt up, resulting in GT4088R nibbling at Marham. That's when I knew to start playing with housings as the difference was dramatic. Ha ha... I have been through a lot of tubbies and housings lately, so have a fair bit of comparison knowledge I guess. The fact the Vpro cuts down the mapping costs helps. The To4Z feels like a very late spooling version of the T67 with the '68 housing on. Go on Ian, swap that housing.. I think you'll find a big difference!! Cheap mod to do for a possible big gain, and if you are not happy sell it on and put the old map back on -

not a lag monster? after the TO4Z I'd be keen to see if BL did a bigger tubby than the T67, have a go at that with a few different housings. -

Ah ha... Custom front bumper based on the Do-luck - got it in primer now and I think it looks awesome. Also give full frontal to the fmic. New bootlid with the rear lip removed and sloped down in the centre as low as it will go. Need to fit this before I decide it's good, but it's looking like it might work so far. New custom rear spoiler, and I think this is going to be the best piece, not overstated but really clean. Half way between a motorsport spoiler and a spoiler for look. Had 3 goes at making spoiler shapes before settling on this one. The whole idea was to bring some slightly harder lines to the sup, which is a beautiful body generally, just needing some cleaner, leff fussy lines. Not keen on posting any photos of the bits until she's painted, as if it looks as good as I think they will I may mould and make some copies. -
I have had Supy off the road for for the past few months, installing bits and bobs as well as working on a custom bodykit. I have finally got her running again and she's been out on the road for the past few days. The only powertrain modification I have done to the car is fitting an HKS T04Z instead of the T67 DBB, as I had heard that the HKS is quite a special turbo, and as I understand it a slight power increase from the T67, so I was eager to have a go with one. Turbo is a T04Z with a 1.0ar divided housing... the turbo I'm comparing it to is a T67DBB with a '86 non divided housing. I've also had a GT4088R and a GT35R, all with varous exhaust ar's. Now I know there are people who say that my setup is unique, and also it has to be put on a rolling road to varify true results, and I agree, but for me it's how the car feels and to that end it's my opinion I'm intereted in more than numbers. I have to say this T04Z is not going to make it anywhere near the dyno, it's coming off and the T67 is going back on It provides a reasonable spool low down, but then fails to build.. it then gets a power spike around 4.5K but then tails off to the redline. It's also not that powerful IMHO, even at 1.45 bar it feels lazy. It could be a mapping issue, and I'm sure if I got a bespoke hks mapping for this one turbo then it would improve, but all the experience of all the turbo's I have used (all the same way) tell me that this tubby is slow spooling, and needs a bigger ar to be competivive top end, which would destroy the spool it does have. It's noisy, lethargic and doesn't flow gas very well in this tune. Very dissapointed to be honest. So there we go, of all the turbos I have had, the two winners are GT35R with a '68 non divided housing - fantastic response but slighty asthmatic over 6.5k. T67DBB with a '86 housing - decent response, tons of power, huge powerband and free breathing top end right through to 8k. I tried the '68 housing on this tubby and it was not happy. So ends the turbo hunt, I'm going to the T67 and staying put. It's a very, very good turbo. Full respray booked after Marham....

Terry S had T500 BAD on mine. I couldn't live with it!

getting mine sprayed too. looked through all the swatches in the paint shop. bmw carbon black looked the best in real life, else i would go gunmetal or dark racing green...
