  1. If you were using a bi-hexagonal socket of the right size then it wouldn't have slipped, 16mm must be too large. See if you can measure the size of the nut, across the flats. You'll have to use a conventional hex socket on any nuts that you've damaged. If you get the right size you'll be confident that you can knock it on with a hammer and it will turn without causing any undue damage.
  2. A good programme on channel four started at nine, they're digging up a First World War bunker. The Lost WWI Bunker: A Time Team Special Monday 10 November 9:00pm - 10:35pm Channel 4 Archaeological series. Marking the 90th anniversary of the end of World War I, Tony Robinson joins an unprecedented archaeological expedition in search of a perfectly preserved bunker, or dugout, called the Vampir. Beneath the paralysed front in Belgium, elite tunnelling companies created a deep maze of tunnels and dugouts, which was the only safe place to hide when shelling made the surface hell above.
  3. Have you tried a conventional hexagonal socket like the one above, it's less likely to slip than the bi-hexagonal socket below? If you've damaged the nuts you'll probably have to tap the socket on with a hammer.
  4. I've got the 4D Maglite, the build quality is good but the light output isn't really anything special at all. I was having a look on the Autoexpress website last night and they tested some torches. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/211282/torches.html
  5. Are they conventional hexagonal nuts and are locking nuts fitted aswell? A close up picture would be helpful.
  6. I fitted a Cobra alarm to my van over five years ago and it's never done that.
  7. You're not kidding, it appears so simple.
  8. Just like what Mike has said, one of the nuts on the front cat is more awkward than the other two. You'll need a decent socket set with some long extensions. You don't need to use the o ring type seal at all. Use sufficient exhaust assembly paste to give a good seal, if some squeezes out when you're tightening the bolts it doesn't matter at all. To be honest you're probably better off getting someone else to fit the decat pipe, if you have very little or no experience of working on cars you'll more than likely wish you had got someone else to do it in the first place.
  9. Yep, only kidding. I'll have to have a look if I go to the shops.
  10. I think there's a o ring type seal in one of the joints but I can't remember which. Just buy some exhaust assembly paste type stuff . It's a paste that you put in the exhaust joins, you then fit exhaust/decat etc together and it fills any gaps. It hardens with heat going through the exhaust, use it liberally. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_164909_langId_-1_categoryId_165625_partNumber_741520 Cheaper at your local car accessory shop, just ask for some exhaust assembly paste.
  11. 1. As small as possible so they can get it parked inbetween the white lines at the shops. 2. A seat so they can put it forward enough to make the airbag ineffective aswell as being able to see over the dashboard. 3. Massive rearview mirror for applying the cover all makeup stuff. Ford Focus TDCI Diesel, Ford make extremely good cars nowadays
  12. Ha ha, at first I thought you said life expectancy not experience. I had a picture of an old woman in my head. I'm pleased that you have some good things happening.
  13. There's nothing unusual at all about the Supra when it comes to working on them, if you're father in law is a mechanic then he'll have no trouble at all. The FCD is wired in close to the ecu which is in the passenger footwell, nothing difficult and there's a wiring diagram on here somewhere. Fitting the fuel pump is straighforward too, there're are threads on here that will help. If you're father in law can't manage it then he's no mechanic.
  14. What exactly will you be doing in Iraq?

    Ahh, so cute

Looks like a photoshop to me.
  16. I always prefer to use this for outside stuff. I buy the heat shrink with the adhesive inside from Maplins, it's thicker than the normal stuff and has a higher shrink ratio too. Time to buy a trickle charger I think as the car doesn't get used often.
  17. Lovely car. It's a pity they didn't talk to you on camera or did they as I didn't watch the whole show?

    Free Stuff

I've just received my free wind up radio. I'm always a little enquisitive when I get stuff like this, I pulled of the cover where the bulbs go to have a look and I've pulled loose the green wire where it's soldered on to the circuit board. I'll have to have a good look with a magnifying glass as it's not obvious where it goes. How irresponsible it was of that newspaper to hand out free codes. Imagine all of the free items they'll have to manufacture and post, it's not exactly very good for our carbon footprints.
  19. Thanks, that's going to be fun.
  20. Posted recently. I think the consensus was that it was fake. When you look at the last bit when it lands it would be impossible to go from flying on it's side to a horizontal position for landing.
  21. Hello and welcome, sorry I can't help as my car is an import
  22. Didn't it end up being the clutch release bearing fork, I think it was bent? I'm not sure how obvious that would've been.
