  1. I don't have cruise control , so their is just the one cable. There does seem to be excessive play in the cable. Nearly all of the adjustment has been taken up and their is still over 10mm of play. Maybe to have a little is okay but this is reflected in pedal play- the feel of it just doesn't seem right, feels loose. I cannot imagine Toyota would design it to give this much slackness in the pedal.
  2. I'm new to this aswell so not 100% Basic Performance Upgrade. An aftermarket exhaust and a decat(removing one or both catalysts and replacing them with straight through pipe). At least one cat will have to go back on temporarily so the exhaust emissions aren't too high for the MOT. You could need a restrictor ring in the decat pipes to stop the boost creeping up if you have the TT. I'm sure others members can advise you more. Using the Search button will give you all your answers.
  3. Anyone bought one of those Workshop manuals on Cd from Ebay? Even if they aren't brilliant they must be value for money at such a cheap price.
  4. Although I'm biased I'm glad I got a red one, no hint of orange. Most photo's are deceptive. They are a fairly dark red which shines up a treat.

    What's This

Trying to figure out how to put the mesh in the front bumper. This thing is hanging down at the front right corner of the radiator. It should be fixed somewhere, it has a mounting plug which will push into a hole. Two wire's go into it. What is it, where does it go?

    Tyre Split

Put the Supe up on the ramps for the first time. There is a split about 3-4mm deep and 80mm long running along one of the ribs left by the manufacturing process. They are Googyear F1's with about 4mm left. I think I'll contact GoodYear's Technical Support. Anyone else with similar experience.

    Got My Car

I'm from Hebburn James. I think I'll have to get some mesh in the front bumper like yours when I've got some cash to spare.

    Got My Car

Thought it was about time I posted a Pic of my car. Two week's since I picked it up. 97 VVTI Manual http://img2.imageshack.us/my.php?loc=img2&image=NEWCAR.JPG Very difficult to stop grinning when you go for a drive. Cannot resist blasting past everyone at the start of the dual-carriageway or motorway. :D Before you know it your doing 110. Afterwards when I get home I say to myself - I'll have to stop doing that - must be a gut wrenching feeling to see the blue lights in the mirror. The next time out I do exactly the same.
  9. It would be far too costly for wheel manufacturers to make their wheels to fit cars without using hub centric rings. It is perfectly okay to use the hub centric rings but you have to make sure they are a good fit so they do the job they are designed for. Aluminium or plastic are fine, the plastic ones have a high compressive strength and work perfectly. So don't just limit yourself to buying wheels that don't use the hub centric ring. From an engineering point of view they are fine- just make sure they are the correct ones.
  10. Much rather listen to the turbo's whistle and the sound of the exhaust. Just bought my TT a couple of weeks ago and it came with a £1100 7" DVD Multimedia Centre - it hardly gets used. It's hard to take the grin off my face when I go for a drive. :D I was looking to get a BMW 540 manual, I'm sure it's a good car but I'm glad I got the Supe. Maybe on the motorway or sitting in a carpark I would listen to the radio.

    Misfire

I bought my first Supra last week, it's a 97 J Spec TT . I'm getting an intermittent misfire when I accelerate hard. It's happened about 3 times in the last 5 days. The previous owner was putting 4 Star petrol in now and again because of it's higher octane rating.I'm not sure if this is advisable because of the possible damage to the cats. I have used Optimax since. Anyone have any ideas. Cheers
  12. Thanks albundy68 I'll contact Dude
  13. Cheers Castle The aerial won't go down the last 6" or so. There is no apparent damage to the mast, after taking it to bits and looking at the mechanism their wasn't anything obvious. I then looked at the bottom section of the mast- it is buckled, someone must have tried to force it down. It needs a new mast, I am reluctant to just replace it because I don't know why it wouldn't go down in the first place. I think it would be better to replace the whole unit. Got a shock when I rang two Toyota Dealers. £30 for the mast. £178 for the whole aerial unit What a rip off!
  14. Anyone know anything about the electric aerial. I need to get a replacement for my 1997 J Spec TT. Surely it will be the same as the one on the UK car. Prefer to get an original Toyota part as it will be easier to fit with the same connections etc. Are the Toyota Parts Depts any good? Is there anywhere else I can get an original aerial? Thanks
  15. Hi Just got an insurance quote through Elephant for a J spec TT.(This is my first Supra which I will be picking up tomorrow) It is £1038 for a ten month policy and is £100 more because it doesn't have the standard alloys. I don't know if I should tell them about the different front bumper and the side skirts. Do you think it will cost much more? Cheers:music:
  16. Most of them don't give you an online quote. I'll probably give Tesco a ring tomorrow. I didn't realise there would be such a difference in insurance between the Uk and J spec cars. Why? p.s. I'm also going bald. Taking propecia for about 5 years, the worst thing is you don't really know if it works. You are scared to stop because if you do you are supposed to lose any hair that you might have retained.
  17. Hi Quite a few of you recommend Elephant insurance. You can get a quote online for a Uk car but not for an Import, they say you have to phone them. I gave them a ring but they said they wouldn't insure a TT import. I have 3 years no claims on my van but I will have to start afresh with zero no claims for an additional vehicle. I was quoted £670 fully comp for the Uk car. Norwich Union is £1847 fully comp for the import. Can anyone recommend any other insurance companies. Cheers
  18. Hi paul I have already arranged to see two cars on Saturday, one of them is a UK spec car. But thanks for asking . Cheers Hopefully it won't be too long before I get mine.
  19. Hello Looking for a TT , my first choice would be a UK car but there aren't many about. I am looking for one in red or black with manual gearbox and full leather if possible and I am prepared to pay upto 14k. I would rather have one that is not modified so I can have the satisfaction. What is the general condition of the J spec cars compared to the Uk models? (engine and body corrosion etc). This car is for sale in the National Exchange and Mart: 96 TOYOTA SUPRA 3.0 Litre Twin Turbo 6speed, 38,000 miles black £12,995 (Worldwide Motors) - £12,995 Anyone seen this car or know of any others? Any help much appreciated.
  20. Hi Does anyone know where to get a workshop manual for a TT Uk spec car. Are the manuals in CD form on EBay any good? I haven't bought it yet but I am interested in a red 96 TT uk car with 80k on the clock. What sort of condition should I expect, is the mileage too high? It has red/cream leather, I haven't seen any like this yet. I will do a HPI check and also confirm the service history. Any other advice would be appreciated. Cheers
