  1. Don't be such a pessimist! In the last 5 months I've looked at loads of previous posts and haven't seen any regarding the turbo seals!
  2. New Intercooler : Not much change from £1000 - Toyota:eek: Here's the good news, there is a group buy of these happening soon and the price should be less than £400 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25339
  3. http://img83.exs.cx/img83/8710/boost.jpg The tube marked in red goes to my boost gauge. The sensor with the green label on top(turbo pressure sensor), I pulled the tube from this and connected a couple of inches of new tube onto the sensor. Connect all 3 ends with a T piece. I fitted an electronic gauge , there's a wiring loom going through the left side of the bulk head next to the wing. I fed my wires through there and they came out nicely below the glovebox.
  4. I would replace both front tyres, but it is dependant on how much you have left on the good tyre. I had a split on the inside of my front tyre which turned out to be a manufacturing fault. The tyres were about half worn but Goodyear actually gave me an allowance of 65 % to replace both front tyres even though just one was faulty. Your council should do the same and pay for both tyres, it can be dangerous to have a brand new tyre with plenty of tread on one side and one with little tread on the other. Through no fault of your own you shouldn't have to pay a penny!!!!
  5. I've got the spats fiited to my car and the stone chipping on the offside has removed alot of the paint which doesn't look good. Can you get anything to protect the paintwork from stone chipping. I read somewhere a while back about a clear plastic film but cannot find it now. Any ideas?

    manual vs auto

Do they? Proper sports cars all have manual gearboxes! If you want reduced driver involvement then get an auto. I would never get an auto, in my opinion a manual is much more satisfying to drive.
  7. What a load of bollocks! No need to have the same tyres all round, the levels of grip from the front to rear are going to vary anyhow because of the balance of the car and in your case the rear tyres are wider than the front.
  8. According to an earlier poll most of prefer to use Shell Optimax which isn't cheap!
  9. It is okay to put different tyres on the back or front. It's best not to mix tyres on the same axle though.
  10. The blade on the driver's side has a spoiler which is metal and must help it stay against the windscreen! I was going to replace the whole thing but I though It would be better to keep this so I just replaced the rubbers.
  11. Look at the last letter where it says Trans/Axle:) Differential Type A (Std diff), B (Torsen LSD) Auto's can also have a LSD
  12. Do a search for Chris Wilson, he does the decat pipes which are very popular.
  13. I agree with Jake, I fitted all of the above and the car runs really nice! I bought a Nur Spec R, Chris Wilson decat pipes, a TRL Fuel cut defender. I fitted them all myself , it's a bit awkward removing the first cat . You can fit them all yourself if you have a bit of experience with working on cars though.
  14. From Stu's description of the problem it doesn't appear to be fuel cut, but as SkyJawa say's it could be a misfire caused by the plugs. The Denso IK 24's are supposed to be good. I was getting a misfire after doing my decat and I bought some NGK BKR7E plugs - these are also recommended highly but are much cheaper than the Denso plugs. My car now runs perfectly. You can get some at Brown Brothers, 19 Brough Park Way in Newcastle, NE62YT. They're only £10.43 for a set of 6 compared to about £70 for the Denso plugs .
  15. Fair enough! As you say, there are various levels of technical abilities on here. I can think of a few people in my family that would need some guidance too.
  16. You are joking, aren't you? It's pretty obvious how to fit them.
  17. Really nice looking seats, I'm jealous:) Great looking car! Do you mind me asking what the total price for the seats was?
  18. I tried to get a pump for filling the gearbox with the new oil. the bloke at the local car shop didn't even no they existed! I bought a 5 foot length of clear plastic tubing (B&Q), pushed one end in the filler hole and ran it up against the side of the car and fitted a funnel in the end. Just gently filled it this way, worked a treat. The part number for V160 gearbox oil is "08885-01306" £30.95 per litre You'll need just less than 2 litres
  19. For those of you that might not be aware I wanted to draw your attention to the fact that your intercooler might need replacing. With salty moist air rushing through them in the winter they will corrode. I've got a 97 car and the front of the intercooler is starting to crumble and fall apart. This will have an impact on the efficiency and the intercooler will not be performing like it should and could need replacing especially on the early cars. An original replacement from Toyota would be approx £1000 Lovatt is kindly organising a group buy and they will be a fraction of this cost. Click Here
  20. Fair enough! I didn't realise you were getting rid of the door handle aswell!. Must admit it does look good.
  21. Must have money to burn! Spend your money on something worthwhile instead!
  22. Don't really understand your values. Here's a copy of the values for my car when tested.(1997 VVTI) Fast Idle Test (2500-3000rpm) CO 0.30 %vol .................... actual value 0.00% HC 200ppm vol.................... actual value 35ppm vol Lambda 0.970-1.030 ............ actual value 1.025 I'm not sure what the nitrous oxides are.
  23. Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 These must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side. Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens. Lamps incorporating a side repeater are marked either with an 'E' mark in a circle or an 'e' mark in a rectangle above which is a number 5. Some vehicles are fitted with a wraparound lens with no European approval markings. These can be tested by standing approximately 1000mm to the side of the vehicles rear bumper with indicator on. If amber light can be seen coming through the front lens (not a reflection) this is acceptable.
  24. There's been a white one on Autotrader for a while now which is much cheaper than the rest. Most of the white ones that I've seen have been dirty, but I've also seen pic's of ones in the states that have been clean and shiny and they do look nice! Don't like people slagging off the red ones, there definately isn't one colour better than another for this car it's just personal preference. I preferred to get the red car but would have been happy to get one in another colour aswell!
  25. Jake Cannot believe you're serious! The only ones I've noticed being cheaper are the white cars.
