  1. I had 5 numbers three years ago £2100 It's cost me a lot more though since it started.
  2. I cannot see any markings on mine! Surely there would be some on original Philips parts. No problems fitting the kit to the car. I was expecting them to be much brighter than they are though.
  3. I got mine last Monday. Nice quality, easy to use. Had to wait about 5 weeks though as there was a shortage. Got mine on contract, Orange OVP 200 anytime minutes - £30/month, 3 months half price. Cost £15 to keep the same number. I'm going to terminate the contract after 12 months and get a Virgin Pay as You Go Sim Card.
  4. I've just emailed Philips to ask if the parts can be identified as being original. Philips web site: http://www.lighting.philips.com/in_en/consumer/carlighting/products/for_your_car/xenon/xenon.php?main=gb_en&parent=1_3&id=in_en_car_lighting&lang=en
  5. I would like to find out if Philips HID bulbs can be identified as being original ! Mine don't have any markings on them at all, just a sticky label on the plastic box. I think I'll do a bit of research.
  6. I agree, they're crap! Like to see the results from others that bought them from the Group buy.
  7. When you put them against the wall you can notice the cut off, when driving I can only see the cut off on the off side. I would say I've got a marginal improvement but nowhere near as good as I expected. The kerb is lit up pretty well but hardly any improvement looking forward. When you look at Terminators there's such an obvious difference between the normal bulb and the HID, not with mine!
  8. Here's a pic of my HID lights. Taken at 20m then zoomed in to compare with "Terminators " Hope you don't mind, a good comparison OS - Normal bulb NS - HID http://img54.exs.cx/img54/2245/mycraplights9fb.jpg Terminators lights http://img54.exs.cx/img54/2325/oshidnsstockjdmbulb20m2ap.jpg What do think of mine , honest opinions appreciated.

    HID Lights

The only part I'm not sure about is the bulb, they came in a plastic box with a sticker on the front. There were no markings on the bulb at all which doesn't look right for genuine Philips parts. I'll try adjusting them when it gets dark. Here are some pics I took the other day. :eek2: http://img54.exs.cx/img54/5503/bulbcase2wb.jpg http://img54.exs.cx/img54/8482/bulbjpg5bn.jpg http://img54.exs.cx/img54/7828/ballastjpg1qs.jpg
  10. Just found a MKIV electric aerial on Ebay. They are quite rare and expensive. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10428&item=4525572220&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

    HID Lights

I know, the light design isn't very good though for your main driving lights. I couldn't find much on the adjustment: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=15631&highlight=headlamp+alignment

    HID Lights

The bulbs came with two "0" rings fitted so they'll fit the facelift lights aswell which have a smaller aperture in the headlamp housing , you just remove one of the "0" rings. The remaining "0" ring was a little fat so I replaced it with one off the original bulb. They aren't quite as snug a fit but they are okay. The kit was part of the recent group buy, all the components are Philips. I can only put it down to the allignment, everything else appears to be okay. Hope I can get them setup and working good like yours.

    HID Lights

Sorry, I have got the 5000K version. I'm sure the kit will be okay, I've just done a search and someone else fitted these and their alignment was way out. I'm going to try and adjust them later on. For the facelift lights it's best to remove both "O" rings and fit the one from the original bulb.

    HID Lights

It might be the alignment of my lights, like to hear from anyone else who's fitted the kit. I cannot take any pics at the moment as someones borrowed the camera. I should have taken the before and after shots. When I said the light beam was pathetic, It's just the same as before which you would expect as the reflector in the lamp is just the same.

    HID Lights

Just fitted my 5000K HID system that I received earlier in the week. The bulbs are fitted with two "O" rings, you have to remove the outer one when fitting to the facelift car. I found the "O" ring was just too thick and the fit would have been far too tight , best to take the "O" ring off the original bulbs and fit to the HID units. Everything else was okay and was easy enough to install. I went out for a drive last night along a particularly bad lit road, I must admit I was very disappointed with the performance. The colour of the HID units makes the view clearer but they don't penetrate into the darkness any further than the original lights. I think this is down to the bad design of the dipped beam lense and not the HID kit. I had the car parked on the drive with the headlights on and the beam of light is absolutely pathetic, maybe 4" wide . Thinking about putting them in the main beam lenses instead and adjusting the beam if I need too.
  16. PMSL Just like being at school again. I think it is a technical question, I'm sure Lee didn't just want a Yes or No answer. He must have wanted an insight into how difficult it is and any problems you might encounter.
  17. I'm in the process of fitting the ballast units for my HID lights, on the offside of the car there isn't so much room to fit the unit. I've found a reasonable place to put it but it will be very close , if not touching the underside of the headlamp. Does anyone know if they get hot, I wouldn't want it to melt the headlamp? Cheers
  18. My car is a Oct 97 VVTI, it's got the side repeaters on the front bumper. Have you got the three separate dials for temp, boost and fuel?
  19. It is possible, I've been fitting a new Cat 1 alarm to the car over Christmas. I started the car to move it a little and found I had zero power steering , this was totally unexpected. All was well when I fiited the alarm . I cannot be 100% but I think it was one of the ignition wires that the alarm immobilises! The old alarm didn't have it's immobiliser circuits wired up correctly, one of the circuits when immobilised didn't prevent the engine from starting or running. Thinking back, this was the one which stopped the power steering.
  20. Have a look at the attachments http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:CTFVBApHx-0J:www.odpm.gov.uk/stellent/groups/odpm_buildreg/documents/page/odpm_breg_033480.hcsp+electrical+work+in+your+home&hl=en
